The 360 spider review was very nice. It's nice to see Vicky and nice to hera the spider (same roads as Turbo Fr I think...). What to say about the 360? I prefere the F355 spider, but it's an incredible car. LOOOVE

Ok the AMS video is in the vault :D thanks Alien :D
Thanks TT! For those without access to the vault, the DivX (slightly lower quality) version will be available soon...

In the mean time, I've uploaded a few other videos to zippo (http://users.pandora.be/cgt/)'s site:

Auto Motor und Sport - Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI.avi
It’s like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, the new Ibiza Cupra TDI. Powered by a 160 horsepower diesel engine, the little Spanish car sets new standards in the compact class in terms of driving dynamics and agility.

The close-spaced ratios of the 6-speed transmission and the firm tuning of the chassis make the Ibiza a fun car to drive. It only uses 5.4 liters of fuel to cover 100 kilometers and is quite affordable with a price tag of 20 thousand Euros in Germany.

Autovision - Jaguar XJ6.avi
The review is in french (from Belgium) so I'm not too sure what they're talking about. Some nice sideway action near the end though.. I love seeing jags going sideway so I had to cap it ;)

Motoring 2004 - Smart Car Crash Test.avi
Want to see what happens when you crash a Smart car into a mercedes?

Polizia Lambo Gallardo.mpg
A repost of the news clip as requested by robruf.

AlienDB7
07-06-2004, 11:23 PM
Thanks draak for changing the url, hopefully the new one won't get posted on other forums for a while.

As promised, I've uploaded the Nardo AMS clip together with another Vicki Top Gear video to draak's webspace.

Auto Motor und Sport - Nardo High-Speed Track Test Part I.avi
An exclusive club with strict rules: No one below a speed of 300 kilometres per hour is admitted. Those admitted this time: the Aston Martin DB9, the Bentley Continental GT, the Mercedes SLR McLaren, the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Porsche Carrera GT and the Enzo Ferrari . Each member is out to prove it’s the fastest. The favorite: the Ferrari. At the high-speed track in Nardo, Italy the test candidates find exactly what they need. A 12.6 kilometre slightly banked track that allows drivers to speed around the circuit literally free of any lateral g forces.

Top Gear - Brands Hatch Day Out (Vicki).wmv
Another classic Top Gear clip with Vicki talking about track day at Brands Hatch. A must for Vicki fans!

I must confess i haven't visited this thread for a while because there are too many of the videos :P

I tried the old webspaces (which took me a while to find) and they didn't work, so.... i trawled through all 39 pages of the thread, and found the names had been changed, because of people posting outside of JW

And what a time to re-visit the thread 8) ... the Nardo video is amazing, and i cannot wait for parts 2 & 3 :P

Thanks for the support guys! I got a PM from Bilal786 about the incidence. Although it's not his first time posting zippo/draak's url on mbworld, we should give him a second chance ;)

For those of you who are planning on giving out the link to friends and other forums. Please upload the video to your own webspace. Like ARMAN said, it's okay to share as long as you're using your own webspace and bandwidth. This is essential for the survival of this thread. We can't afford to have people from every forum downloading from zippo and draak's webspaces. zippo already lost one of his webspaces, we don't want that to happen to the current one!

I was just watching AMS (english version) on TV and they had a review of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, which was great and I recorded it.

I have it on VHS tape but I'm unsure how I can upload it if it is new and of interest to other members.

Another 3 good features on todays AMS-TV for you to capture:

1. Fuore Black Jag: A feature about the Jaguar supercar prototype.
2. Brabus SLK K4: Only 192hp but looks great in silver.
3. Fort Mustang History: Nice feature about the Ford Mustang. Also features the chase scenes from Bullit and offers footage of the 2005 Ford Mustang GTR.

For next week a Audi RS6 plus review is announced

Racingflix limits it's download for no-paying members to 5kbps.... most other websites host for much higher speeds. EG - The Video Vault at JW will allow a 400kbps download (if your connection allows it  )

The VCD cap of the Nardo Speed-test part 2 is being uploaded to the vault, so it should available soon (*hint* TT ). The DivX version and other AMS clips will be available soon, they're being encoded at the moment.

From the preview clips of next week's episode, looks like Part 3 of Nardo test will be very interesting.

3 new videos have been uploaded to zippo's (http://users.pandora.be/cgt/) and draak's (http://users.pandora.be/draak999/) webspaces:

Auto Motor und Sport - Nardo High-Speed Track Test Part 2.avi
The Aston Martin DB9, the Bentley Continental GT, the Mercedes SLR McLaren, the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Porsche Carrera GT and the Enzo Ferrari take part in night-time speed trials around the high-speed track in Nardo, Italy. At night the temperatures are more stable for comparison. The victor records a speed of 355 kmh. Find out who that is in this report.

Auto Motor und Sport - Jaguar XKR.mpg
Breathtaking acceleration. Handling, precision and road-holding that defy the laws of physics. This is part of the marketing text for Jaguar’s new XKR convertible. More than nice-sounding advertising slogans reveal the true facts. 5.6 seconds go by and the convertible sprints from rest to 100. Its 4.2 liter V8 supercharged engine produces 395 horsepower. Whether that’s enough to take one’s breath away, find out in this report.

Due to limited disk space and bandwidth, there is no official archive of the videos. So you really have to look around for them. As for the nardo test part 1, you can find it in the video vault. But since you're a new member, you probably have to wait ;)

I'll do what I can do get the GT2 video, can't promise though. Never know what they put on the DW version of AMS. Are they showing the uncut version of each feature?

Anyhow, part 3 of the Nardo test is here! Together with other AMS clips, they're uploaded to draak (http://users.pandora.be/draak999/)'s and zippo (http://users.pandora.be/cgt/)'s webspaces. A higher quality (VCD) version of the nardo test has been uploaded to the video vault so hopefully it'll be available soon ;)

Auto Motor und Sport - Nardo High-Speed Track Test Part 3.avi
Find out which of our six candidates from Bentley, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari wins the acceleration contest from 0 to 300 kilometers per hour and which has the best driving qualities not only on a high-speed racetrack but also for daily use.

Auto Motor und Sport - Cargofun.avi
A New Beetle turned into a pickup. Heiko Böhringer engineered the vehicle and found two craftsmen to help him build his prototype. Their Cargofun is intended to bridge the gap between the XXL-sized American pickups and the smaller ones used by tradesmen in Europe. There are hopes that at VW, they might even take it into serial production. If not they’re willing to produce it as a kit vehicle.

Auto Motor und Sport - Chrysler 300C.avi
It’s the new flagship at Chrysler. A real head-turner. One that is unmistakable. A car like a fortress. And also typical American. Everything’s a bit bigger. Chrysler hopes the 300 C will pull them out of their current crisis.

Auto Motor und Sport - BMW 1 Series.avi
BMW is starting up a campaign to rock the domain of the VW Golf. The 1 Series goes full throttle in opposition to the Golf class. In that segment it’s mainly practical values that count. Yet, the Bavarians are relying less on those and more on the familiar BMW virtues like driving pleasure and image.

Just watched the 120i review. Nice one! I like it, but it is pretty expensive and all reviewers say they prefer the 2.0d above the 2.0i. And I used to dislike the looks but now I think they're not so bad at all. At least it's something different! Too many cars in that segment look alike IMO.

Thanks AlienDB7, great vids!!

/\/\ Cuz it's from ze Germans and not the italians :?: Or maybe cuz it has less coats of paint on it :? Mmmmmm The driver in the enzo had prolly a big big lunch right b4 the test? :P What really impressed me is the DB9 time on the track... I'm also impressed that a Bentley could stay on the track! Can't think of driving with a cactus by your right hand... imagine the possibilities if it gets loose :x  THANK YOU AlienDB7 and 1zippo1 and draaks and martin... :D

That's what I used to feel too. Until this video, I thought the 1 series is ugly. But after watching the AMS review, I actually begin to like the 1 series. The proportion is just right. Instead of following the trend of building taller, fatter cars, bmw decided to go with a completely different direction. Although I'm not sure if the 1 series is really worth the price...

Just saw the 3rd part, how are the results in complete contrast with top gear's stig tests? The SLR lost only to the CGT on top gear's track but the margin was so small! I wonder why the SLR was so slow in the AMS test.

I don't have the DivX for it anymore, only the VCD I made for archival purpose. Basically I make a VCD and a DivX for each of the caps I made (I know, I like wasting CPU power). The DivX gets posted to zippo and draak's webspace and the VCD gets burned to CD. The file is rather big and probably won't fit on the webspace (50M limit). Your best bet is to get it from someone else in the forum.

There probably won't be any new videos beside the weekly AMS feature. Most north american shows seem to be on rerun right now... and I'm a bit lazy in finding new ones ;)

This week's Auto Motor und Sport episode was very interesting, featuring cars from a tuned chrysler crossfire with V8 brabus engine to porsche 911 carrera S (997) and ford gt. The clips have been uploaded to zippo and draak's webspaces as usual.

Auto Motor und Sport - Startech Coupe V8.avi
Startech is affiliated with Brabus and is in charge of customizing the Chrysler models. For the Crossfire it dug down deep into its magic hat to come up with some outstanding specs: a top speed of 300 kilometres per hour and a 0 to 100 speed in 4.7 seconds. The reason for so much power: the original 6 cylinder engine was replaced by a V8. They call it the Startech Coupé V8.

Auto Motor und Sport - Hand-made Rolls Royce Hood Ornaments.avi
The famous hood ornament for Rolls Royce called the Spirit of Ecstasy or Emily is lovingly made by hand at a factory in Goodwood, England. This story reports on the history of the good old girl, how she's made and how she's changed over the years.

Auto Motor und Sport - Porsche Carrera 911 S.avi
Tested on Germany's fairy-tale route, the new Porsche Carrerra Type 997 is the latest generation of the 911 series. How it differs from the former model and what it has going for it, especially in the engine compartment is the theme of this story.

Auto Motor und Sport - Ford GT.avi
It's the revival of the racing legend from LeMans, the Ford GT 40 from the 1960s. Three times back to back the GT 40 won the world's most popular 24-hour race and triumphed over its arch rivals from Ferrari. With this GT, Ford is not heading for the racetrack but for regular roads.

140 000 EU$ for a 300C... HOT DAM :!: The counters are made of crystal or what :?: The original piece of 300crap is worth what... 40, 45 000 EU$... Ok it's tuned by Brabus +10, 15 000. Ok it has a v8 + 20, 25 000... That adds up to mmmm, let see: 85 000, at most. So that leaves 55 000 for the interior alone. WTF :?:  It's the shifting knob, it's must be like a mini silicon titty with live skin and optional nipple for the overdrive... Anyhow, 2 new AMS clips on draak's webspace, enjoy!

Auto Motor und Sport - Mazda 6 vs Opel Vectra vs Peugeot 407.avi
In the mid-range the newcomer, the Peugeot 407, is trying to make a good impression with its good looks. Whether that impression will be a lasting one will also be decided by a comparison with two well known opponents: the Opel Vectra and the Mazda 6.

Auto Motor und Sport - Fuore Black Jag.avi
The unveiling of a small sensation. A super sports car wearing the Jaguar emblem. Something we haven’t seen for a long time.
Sad that it’s a car we shall never see on the road.
Fuore Design International is located on the Calle Teodor Roviralta in a posh section of Barcelona. Here, in a stylish setting, surrounded by palm trees and stunning architecture, is where the idea of the Black Jag was born.

Have both good and bad news (don't we all hate that?)

Yes, Auto Motor und Sport was on TV tonight (even though the schedule said something different). They had a great review of the Lotus Exige with some nice driving.

Here comes the bad news, I didn't start the capping program in time and missed most of the Exige review  Hopefully someone out there got the segment capped. The rest of the program was capped however. Will have them posted soon...

A race car for the road - that’s what many cars aspire to be, only few ever make it. The Lotus Exige is one of those. Light, hard and brutal. It weighs 916 kilograms and symbolises a pure and genuine sports car. Adequate power plus low weight - that’s the formula Lotus has been using for a long time to construct its cars. One of the most uncompromising ways Lotus has applied this to a street-legal car is in the case of the Exige.

How unlucky? Won't they do reruns later during the week?
Unfortunately, not for the channel I'm getting AMS from :(

A few new AMS clips have been uploaded to zippo's (http://users.pandora.be/p997s/) webspace:

Auto Motor und Sport - Lotus Exige Snippet.mpg
(Yes, only the last 30sec of the review.. the remaining was at least 10x better)

Auto Motor und Sport - Audi S4 Cabriolet vs BMW M3 SMG Cabrio.avi
When the sun is out and tickles your nose without it burning, that’s when driving a convertible is great fun. For those who want even more there are two very seductive German convertibles on the market: the Audi S4 and the BMW M3 both more than just cars for fresh-air fans but also loaded with power - more than 340 horses to be exact.

Auto Motor und Sport - Chrysler Crossfire Roadster.avi
The pop-up wing is an old familiar face. The same as its becoming front section. And people have slowly grown used to its sculpted hood. That’s all part of Chrysler’s big hope, the Crossfire. But this one is new. Now the Crossfire is offered as a roadster. That allows it to get closer to its roots, namely the Mercedes SLK, the car the Crossfire is technically based on. But this roadster is a very unique car. A true Chrysler.

And one on draak's (http://users.pandora.be/draak999/) webspace:

Excellent selection of video's from AMS! Thanks AlienDB7.

I think the roadster version of the Crossfire looks much better because you don't have that arched back any more when you drop the hood.

I'll send that BMW M3 Cabrio vs Audi S4 to my uncle if you don't mind. He currently has a 330Ci and thinks the M3 is to close to his current car to buy sell the 330.

Just uploaded a SFV file so you guys can verify the rar files. If a number of you are having problem with a certain rar file, I can repost it later in the week.

Yes, the rars check out fine on my PC ;)

I just watched the Exige S2 review on AMS on local TV, what a great little car. The way he was driving through the woods was sensational, though that noisy Celica engine might get a bit irritating.
I thought that was one of the better AMS reviews, with plenty of engine noise and tire squeeling...something they often lack. :D

Total agree with you. It almost reminds me of the Motorvision handling track testing with their in car shots. Wonder if anyone out there got it capped

Since each of you is having problem with a different rar file, I'll probably be posting PAR2 files sometime next week. PAR2 files can be used to "fix" corrupted or missing file(s) using QuickPar. You can download QuickPar from http://www.quickpar.org.uk/

Not too push you or something, but it would really be nice, powerslides or not :D

EDIT: the review of the Z4 was pretty positive. Vicky didn't like the electronic guizmoses but I fear she'll have to get used to that since more and more cars will be equipped with those things.

Yes I do have the episode. I've been making svcds of 5th Gear episodes ever since they started showing them in North America. Each episode is about 350-375MB. Unfortunately, I don't have the Tiff review on DivX so I'll have to rip it from the svcd.

I agree with you on the electronic trend. It's the information age so everything's filled with electronics nowadays. Some electronics are useful and can save your life but others are just plain distracting.

Anyway, that makes it all the more exiting to return and find some excellent fresh videos. :D Vicky in the Z4 was nice, but the Exige video was the best. Just happen to be sorting out Jabba's 5th Gear caps last night and guess what I've found... the S2 PR4 of 5th Gear! It's only 58M so I can send it to you if you want.

As it turns out, the episodes airred on Channel 5 are different from the ones on the Discovery Channel. I compared old (channel 5) and new caps (discovery) of Jabba's and basically they're showing features in different order / episodes. Strangely enough, Speed Channel in NA seems to be showing the discovery channel edit

Akshay: I usually time record the shows using my TV Tuner to AVI. Then I have to edit the video and encode it to DivX/VCD/SVCD.

http://www.leadtek.com/multimedia/winfast_tv2000xp_deluxe_1.html
This is the TV Tuner I have, not the best but it works and doesn't break the wallet. There're much better ones out there.

draak: welcome back! I've been missing quite a bit of stuff too. Constantly running low in disk space and don't have enough time to catch up :( Time to pick up more blanks and start burning.
