I'll put some pics of my cars on probably sometime this afternoon along with a little more of my demo ride in the McLaren SLR and some pics of it (under a separate topic as suggested- is that a good idea)? I have to do some odds and ends this morning cause the girlfriend is out of town and now I'm the go-for for a few days!

Edit by TT, custom shots overload :!::

CGT, F430, F575M, Ford GT, Gallardo and Murcielago, all verified :good:

The pics need to be put in the "What you drive" forum which is under the "Dedicated car sections". A few custom pics will be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance.

wow if u really have those cars in ur sig, plz put up anything u have of it...just make sure u include a custom pic of each of em :) btw do u also have an every-day user? I'll be more than happy to put some pics on later. You just got to realize I not a professional photographer but they're not too bad. For everyday use, the girlfriend and I both have 2005 Range Rovers. It's a little tough driving one of the others in Ohio during the Winter with 6-10 inches of snow on the ground! We'll be getting 07s in the Fall. I've been real lucky in life having a Father that was very successful in business and this is the ONLY reason that I'm able to buy and enjoy the cars that I have!!!

Let me answer several of the questions or replys all at once here. I just got back from doing my to do list and as soon as I can resize the pics, I'll enter them plus... on the SLR.. should I start a new topic with the pics and impressions? jabba, Who is budgaboys? He ain't gonna come looking for me is he? :( twboy1999 Thanks for your confirmation! DrijF360 My Father was in the construction business and he built apartments and some small shopping plazas. We then owned and managed all of them. Later in his career, he became involved in gas and oil wells (not like in Texas cause in Ohio, gas is what you get most instead of oil) But it's still a pretty decent business... I can go to McDonalds and pay cash! (I know, I know... everyone likes a little ass but nobody likes a smart ass! :slap: By the way, Hovik in a later post here knows me and knows what a chump I am for women!! Which car do you want for the girl in your post! Wutputt I try and drive each one in turn so that they're all exercised equally. Of course that depends on our weather situation! ARMAN Thanks for your welcome and the pics are coming soon.... half hour or an hour. Hovik, Sure, go ahead and post whatever you would like! Thanks guys and now I'l get to work and do the pics for you.

... just one more question - with this current line-up... what cars have you previously owned?? :D Can I please do that tomorrow. I'm freaking out over here trying to figure what's the best way to post the pictures I have to show you guys. About 29 in all for the time being. Can anyone give me some advice? I know some of you did before and I can't find out what you said. I'm flattered with all the kind remarks you all have been saying and I really want to answer them all. Right now, I have my head in a brown paper bag taking deep breathes! Also, what is the max size of pic I can post and what is the size you all would recommend? I'll wait about 10 minutes or so before I just post them categorically car by car in this area. Is that bad? The SLR story is going to have to wait until I'm done with the first job assignment you've given me!!!

Sorry guys, but stop looking, there is NO attach function on JW ;)

And now I have to play the badmin role for once, but even if it's just amazing to have such a car collection on JW, with no custom shots this topic has to be closed.

magwheel, whenver you have time/will to take them you can send them to me via PM or email.. untill then, I am sorry to put a stop to the fun for everybody, but that's a pretty "imprtant" rule on JW since a while now :bah:

I still don't believe it. I want to see Magwheel in front of each car, standing on his head, while wearing a dress! Holding the registration for each car, between his thumb and pinky, showing the same address for each car's registration.

Excellent collection by the way...I used to have a collection that bad-ass, but I totally misplaced all my Hotwheels.

TT, I use a 8 mb Sony and the default dimensions are 3200 x 2400 pixels and 45 x 34 inches. Are those dimensions too high and if they are, what size is the limit? Thanks again for working with me to get me straightened out and back online with everyone. Michael :D

StanAE86, You're a real ball buster. But... I got you beat! I just bought a black, red and yellow Enzo, a lime green Miura, 2 red F50s and a F40!! Course like yours, they're all from the Mattel Hot Wheels collection in 1/18 scale and they look real neat on my desk at work and at home. I coulda shaved a ton of money if I would have bought these in the first place instead of the real things but somehow I don't think I would have had as much fun pushing them around as I would have riding in some of them. p.s. Well, 3200 is indeed a bit too much, usually a good size when ppl want high-res is something like 1600x1200, but if you don't have time to do the resize you just email the pics as they are and I can do some quick editing ;)

thanks for sharing your enthusiasm, and passion for these rare exotic cars magwheel! it is truly an honor to have such a great guy here on Jabbasworld :) i cant begin to express my excitement when coming down to meet you and your fine ladies in the not so distant future.

its a rare thing anywhere to see such a vast array of exotic cars; particularly owned by one man; and driven :) just based on my reading; each car is each its own monster in a lot of differing ways... I am cerious about the qualities you see in them, and what car fits various purposes to you. so far, the only car in your collection i've had a chance in behind the wheel was the Ford GT... a mind blowing car compared to the best of everything else ive ever been in... but your garage houses the best the rest of the world has to offer.

i guess to keep it as simple as i can; what does the Ford do that sets it apart from the others?

nthfinity , I just came up with a new thought and at my age that's something special! What would you and the other guys think about doing a pic post of each car individually (4 to 5 pics) and a little evaluation (IMO) of what I think of each car. I could do at least one car a day and maybe two. Should I just continue in this thread area or open up a new topic area each time I do the car evaluation? Talking about dizzy! :silly:

Thanks for the pics Magwheel, you have an awesome collection. I bet it must be a difficult decision to figure out which car to take out on a beautiful weekend.

Welcome to JW as I mentioned earlier and pls post your comments comparing these cars. Most of us have our opinions of these supercars totally dependent on magazine reviews that are not reliable. It'll be refreshing to get a first person account of these fine cars and how they match up.

Thanks in advance.

Fantastic Collection of Supercars!!!!

Cant wait to read your experiences with them all.

I'd love to hear about the idiosyncrasies of all these cars too. The funny little things like, which one is the hardest to get in and out of and park. Has anything fallen off of the interior like switches or gear knobs etc, which one gets stuck the most on the carpark humps all those kinda things.

I know my bosses Alfa GTV has had 2 or 3 of the switches just pop out onto the floor of their own accord. hehe

Hope the cars get driven like they were ment to.....above 6k rpm

Glad to be back on the topic and talking to all of you. HOVIK, If you keep that up with all the compliments, I'll have to give you one of the cars just to repay you because you've been so kind! SPANKY, That's why I thought if I do a pic insert of each car and tell you what I love about it and what I'd like to see the manufacturer change. It will be easier to follow. MIHALS, As I siad before, I love picking plates out that will make people laugh with me. The one on the Gallardo, FUZY NVL, I though was appropriate because of the color. One night I was pulling out of a restaurant that I frequent, and an older couple (older than me), saw the plate on the car, and they were laughing their asses off. They didn't know it but they just made my night! CORVETTE97 and BMWMPOWER and INSANE , I'm asked that a lot and my response is, everytime I get in any one of the cars, I just sit there with a huge smile on my face, because I'm in seventh heaven again. It's like I just got the car and I feel like a kid in a candy shop! HONESTLY! I'm not a traveler, because I haven't been in a plane since 1977 (I'm afraid to fly!) so I just stay around my territory and play with my 'matchboxes'! SAADIE, Ugly Green? Didn't you ever have the desire as a kid to be Superman, Spiderman or the HULK? Well maybe I can't be the Hulk but I'm in the HULK'S car! BMAGNI, The plate was HT 2MOLI (only allowed 7 digits in Ohio) but I didn't like it so I changed it to X HIPPIE because I kinda was back in the 60s and 70s but not full fledged. TAYGUNHO, I had an 2006 M5 ordered and then I started in heat for a Ferrari. I bought the Maranello and canceled the M5. I have had a lot of BMWs and they're excellent cars. In fact, I traded a Z8 on the Maranello! Ironically, one of my sons bought the M5 I canceled a couple months ago! Now back to the topic. TT and Jabba have been great helping me get my act together and the first thing I want to do this afternoon is my Demo ride post about the McLaren SLR. Then, if you guys can please wait, I'd like to open the engine hoods on each car and include that shot along with the other pics. There's some pretty fascinating stuff under each hood. Thanks again. You've all been great. Michael

Incredible collection magwheel, I can say I have all but one of the same cars in my collection as well. Unfortunately they're all 1:18 scale and rather static display pieces, definitely not in driveable condition. At any rate, your taste in cars is obviously excellent and I love that you still take great pleasure in merely driving them. If you're ever in the Bloomfield or Ann Arbor areas in Michigan, shoot me a PM! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your stay here on JW and as for image-hosting, I find that imageshack.us is an excellent way to go about it except for the fact that they have a 1mb upload limit per file (and yours are 2.2mb as I recall).

st-A Hi, I think I have around 700-800 miles on her. It's a little tough to get a lot of miles on any of the cars because between the weather conditions here in Ohio and wanting to drive each one equally, the miles on them will stay kinda low. The only quirk I can say about the Carrera is the clutch. I'm sure youi've heard this before, but she's a pain in the rear. I guess being ceramic and real light, it's a little hairy starting out in first gear. You really got to slip the clutch or you'll stall the car. I did it 2 or 3 times in heavy traffic making a turn. OHHH, that's real exciting. But... I've got it down pretty good now. More on her later when I do the individual IMOs. Michael

Cheers :)

Yeah, sometimes it's kind of sad, but roughly half of my friends, even though they come from relatively wealthly (or in some cases, from very wealthy families), have their lives goind down the gutter because they're irresponsible. Also, in Switzerland (at least if you spent your life in an international school like I did), it's not difficult at all to end up having a fair amount of rich friends.

In general, my friends back in school were slightly younger then me (I tend to hang out with the younger crowd). Although I've been working for several years now, many of these people are only now at an age where they should be thinking very carefully at the kind of life they want to live. Instead, some of them have dropped from university/college and chose to take up booze, weed, or worse... and those who's daddies gave them cars, promptly crashed their 200,000chf beauties with little remorse, bragging about their next car they will get in order to replace the trashed one.

It's just a shame to think everything is there on a golden plate, you respect the life you've been given (and the chance) all that little bit less as each day goes by. I don't think most of these people will be as succesful as their parents were, they just won't have the smart business sense...

Good thing this is not the case with everyone. Just had a drink last thursday with an old friend of mine who in turn is taking over his dads work (he has just a week left of university, and then he's "free" so as to speak). Hid dad has two Ferrari's, plus another 8 cars (Audi's and stuff). But this guy too is extremely modest about it all, and I'm really proud of him for pursuing his dad's business.

Ah well... that's mankind for you and me, some know how to appreciate it, others don't *shrug*

Magwheel: Is that your dog next to your Murc?

http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/3935/11ye3.th.jpg (http://img226.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11ye3.jpg) Yep, that's one of my 5 dogs. His name is Whizzer and he's an English Labrador (I have 2 other Labs) and he's my Lambo guard dog. Like his brothers and sisters, they don't bite much, but they'll sure as hell lick you to death!

That's quite a claim you have there...FIVE dogs. If this is in fact true, I'd ask that you put up some custom pics of your dogs:

you know I will be, Michael; really, it can be a chore to do up the photos and thoughts on the car; and every effort is definately appreciated :)

about your dogs; they are great, arent they! right now, where i'm at right now, we have a Great Dane, about 18 months old, and a Chocolate Lab; both are great dogs :) but the dane isn't like my last entirely... either my last Dane was incredibly smart, or this one is the real version of Marmaduke  still a great people dog.

I took a McLaren SLR for a demo ride last Friday, St. Patty's Day. I had looked at it Thursday and was fairly interested in it but the main problem was that I would have had to get rid of one of my cars, most likely the Maranello because they're both considered to be GT Touring type cars. They wanted me to take it for a demo ride which I really didn't feel good about because my interest was questionable. But I caved in after several of them assured me it was OK to put 5-10 miles on her.

The following is my impression or opinion which me not being Jeremy Clarkson or equivalent, may not be worth two bits! Anyhow, while driving her the 5-10 miles, it seemed to have heavy steering (not as nimble as the Maranello) and IMO wanted to wander a little. In other words, if I took my hands off the wheel, I didn't think she would track a straight line for too long. I drove it like a Grandma would (only had her up to 75 or 80) out of respect for the dealer whose was kind enough to let me take it for a test ride. I just felt a little guilty because I didn't want to put any excess miles or stress on the car in case somebody else was going to buy it and my interest in it wasn't that hot and heavy.

It's a beautiful looking coupe and the Silver paint (metalflake or firemist - whichever you prefer) was unbelieveable in the sun. It was like a 2 bit whore at the White House! It really stood out!! The ride was real firm though, I guess because the body is mounted directly to the frame and not rubber mounted on the frame (that's what they told me) and every expansion strip on the highway was felt. But.... you could feel the power! Push the throttle down a little bit and she wants to rip it up... bad! It looks like a super technological achievement while looking over the car's interior and exterior. Trick stuff everywhere.

The doors were Gull Wing type (300 SL?) not like the Murcielago doors that go straight up but the SLRs open outward and then up making entry easier than the Murcie doors. The hood was like the vault at Fort Knox. All kinds of mechanical and suspended stuff. Once the initial latch was released, a secondary latch was pushed and then you merely pushed down on the nose and it tilted up and forward with ease. There was a word of caution not to be too aggressive at any point. The LED rear turn signal lights in the rear were neat as hell. Really bright and in a backward C pattern. And the rear air-brake spoiler, what can I say... damn, if I would have played with it anymore, I might have talked myself into buying the car!

I love gimmicks on cars. I once bought a 545i BMW over the others because it had the beeping back-up sensors! This particular car had two options. One was red painted brake calipers ($800 - just like my Maranello) and they really looked sharp against the silver paint. The second option was a special super soft leather interior (a $10,000 hit - can't remember it's name) and it was really pretty soft and luxurious. And there were these elaborate tire pressure sensors mounted on the inner fenders. I could just see it now.... One salesman is opening and closing the hood and showing me how easy and trick it is, another salesman is running his hands over the interior and saying it was a soft as a newborn baby's butt , another salesman is working the rear turn signals telling me they're brighter than a lighthouse and the other salesperson is working the rear spoiler up and down and up and down and my head is spinning and all I can say is take my money.... give me the keys and take my money.. please!! And then, thank God I wake up!! Phew.... what a dream!

Seriously, I think it is very hard to justify the SLR price in my opinion. I'd love to own her but I don't think I'd be able to talk myself in getting rid of the Maranello for it even if it was half the price. To be fair, I absolutely love the car, but comparing it to the Maranello, I think I got the better of the two! But ohhhhh that rear air-brake spoiler!!!

p.s. The pic of the engine compartment was not taken by me. Somehow, in all the excitement, I forgot to take a picture of the engine. The one here is one I BORROWED from an internet site. I hope you all will forgive me!

p.s.s. I pulled up to the dealership in the Lime Green Murcie. Got 2 or 3 looks (dozen that is!) What better car than the HULKSTR to be riding around in on St. Patty's Day! Heh... heh... heh... Pics will be added shortly.... right TT and Jabba?

thanks for the write up![/quote] nthfinity, I think I'd love to, but for right now, I'm done for at least 2 years (so he says.... hmmmm)! Plus, then I got to go through the so called waiting list and then the price extortion routine because there is that 2-3 year waiting list. If I get or have gotten lucky, maybe I can get a break from a dealer because I just bought 2 new Ferraris and somehow I'm considered an easy target. I'd like to see the car in person first, but I bought both the other two and only saw digital pics of them. The dang salesman didn't even have to shake my hand and I still had to listen to their sales pitch over the phone! Which quote do you think best fits me? PT Barnum's "There a sucker born every minute" or W.C. Fields' quote of: "Don't smarten up a chump and never give a sucker an even break!" :silly: Why is this the smilee I use so often?

My Father left me a house in West Palm Beach, Florida but since I don't travel, just my kids use it and I let other relatives in Dad's immediate family use it if they want. Her's my review or impression of my 2005 6-speed Gallardo. I got the car in the Fall of 2005 and traded a 2004 Dodge SRT 10 (Viper engine-500 hp) 1/2 ton pickup truck on it. I need a pickup truck because I buy bird seed and shelled corn in large quantities to feed all the birds and deer that come and visit us every day. So after I got rid of the SRT10, I had to go buy a F150 to replace it! Brilliant!

Anyhow, the day Nelson Auto Group (Lamborghini Ohio-excellent transaction by the way with Harvey Ford) delivered it around 9 p.m. on a weekday night in a large car hauler with a beautiful Murcielago painted on the side, tons of people were stopping to see what was to come out of the truck. After unloading her, a group of 3 young girls from our local High School, were talking to the delivery driver and then they shouted over to me... "Hey mister, you got the finest car of all anywhere around!" Somehow, I was already in love with the car and I hadn't even driven it yet!

Driving it home was a real thrill. The next night we took it to our favorite restaurant, had dinner and were trying to leave but had one slight problem. I couldn't get her to go into reverse! I tried everything, rocking the car, turning it on and off and of course my girlfriend has to chime in when she could have fried eggs on my forehead! She says, "Maybe you have to push down or something"..... yeah right! What the hell does she know..... she's a blonde. I don't know why but I tried it and damn, it went into reverse. Well after straightening up from being bent over after she kicked me in the ass, we drove home but it was pretty quiet except for her laughter under her breathe!

OK, enough of the funny stuff. Obviously, being my first Lamborghini, I was freaking out. The Pearl Orange color is absolutely awesome and people see it coming for miles. I was going down one of our main drags and this young kid coming the other way had his head hanging out his car window looking at me and he still had it out as I passed him and beyond. Laughed my ass off! It's very comfortable and the seats give me plenty of butt room. The heating and air conditioning system function excellent and are laid out real well probably because I've been told it is essentially Audi's system. Ditto on the radio.... Audi too so I've been told. Controls and digits are easily read even if you're like me and not wearing your reading glasses. The two-tone interior, black and beige leather is sweet. Great combo!

The six speed is the cat's ass! When I first got it, when shifting (the finger gate is really easy and smooth shifting) from 2nd to 3rd, it would make a noise like I was loading a 30.06 round into a bolt action rifle. Really turned me on. Kinda felt like Rambo ready for a fight! The trunk has a decent amount of room for small packages or clothes. Open the engine compartment and it automatically produces a huge smile on your face. I also have the glass bonnet for outside lookers.

I love the lines of the car. The sharp angles and flat areas really stand out after having cars that are curves all over the place. Driving the car.... what can I say? Again, I'm not Mario Andretti, so when I get on it even a little, the engine has this LOUD deep drone sound! Awesome! Sounds like a bull in battle! I love going back and forth on our freeways because I can pretend to play a little 'Gumball' and not get into too much trouble.

At this point, the only thing I'd like to see improved or changed is the brake pads. Why? Both the Gallardo and the Murcie and even the Maranello (the Lambos more so) squeal a little when you come to a stop sign! It's a little embarrassing to be in such a fine car and then have your arrival at a stop sign be announced by the shrill of brakes. Minor, but it would be nice if they used a different compound.

I'm sure I'll really enjoy this fantastic car for a few years and then guaranteed I'll be getting a new one! If I left anything out, just ask me. Michael :D Hi-Res pics to follow!

SPANKY, I've never had the Rs up that high..... remember there is a break in period. 4000 rpm for the first 500 miles, 5000 rpm for the next 250 I think and the 6000 for the next 250 or so. That's what the salesman said to me. I don't know why but I didn't check the manual! DEMON, No I haven't even seen one (McLaren F1) in person. i dont know if it is rude but ignore if it is but, why do you have to get rid of the maranello? space? Your question insn't taken to be rude by any means. You can only stretch rubber so far and the same goes for a person's financial capability no matter what bracket you're in. For me, to buy the McLaren SLR outright without a trade of the Maranello would be stupid financially on my part. I'd be stretching myself and my bank account a little thin. Hopefully just a temporary glitch. Michael 8)

Did any of the car companies invite you to go to their factories to watch your car being built?

Or give you advanced driving courses with a racing driver for the model you were buying?

having two lambos, I would go to Italy and ask Valentino to show me how to drive a lambo  :D
but as you said, you are scarred of flying.... mybe you just hate sitting in something, what has way more breathtaking take off :prr:  (don't take me seriously Mike  )

wow, the reviews are great, thanx for putting them up magwheel.

I know we will all be waiting for the other ones anxiously.

I loved the Gallardo review, I felt like I was actually driving it, and I also can't wait to see the pics.

Like many said before, I want to say thanks again for putting your time into writing these reviews, we are a car fan community here who love these exoticars, and its a thrill and great pleasure to have a member like you here that can provide us with such entertainment of talking about these cars as a user and an owner of these fine exotics.

WOW, what great collection you have again...

I was also wondering if you ever had a Diablo in your collection, and if you did what you thought of it.

excellent reviews of the SLR and the Gallardo. It's quite rare to get a review made by a "regular" driver and not by a journalistes. It was interesting to read your thoughts about "is it worth to replace it...", " do I need these features" , "is it worth the prize" on one side and the "just love the rear-air-brake-spoiler *dream* :D" - on the other side. :D

About the Gallardo: one feature I could listen to forever is: the engine start, this wiiiiiiiii- tone just before the engines awakes ....:love:  :D 8)

Thanks Michael for the review!

nice collection you have there, and to vertify if they all belong to one guy, ill have a cop i know run the plates!! not that i dont believe you!! :P

personally, i would get rid of the Ford GT and get a F40 ro F50 granted they cost more but they would def be worth it.

as for the Lambo's i would of rather gotten a Zonda!!

and instead of the SLR, a Enzo would be the way to go but ofcourse money talks!!

so, all in all in stead of having 6 cars, i would of gone with 4, F40, F50, Zonda, 959!!

and Welcome to JW, this place will become a 2nd home for you in no time!!

EDIT - oh and did i miss the post where you mention which previous cars you have owned or did you not mention that yet?? :drinking: Oh,Oh, Oh..... Thanks a lot. Now when I go to sleep tonight , all I'll be thinking about is a F430, Zonda, 959 and whatever!! It ain't bad enough I've become a JabbasWorld junkie, my finger tips are bleeding, my nose is running, my ass is sore and the cars are bitching me out for staying in the house and not exercising them. My girlfriend is due back home this afternoon from Las Vegas and I'm sure I'll greet her with a kiss and say HI JABBAS HONEY, HOW YA DOING! ***** Seriously, I love the F40 and would take one right now for the..... well you know! I'm superstitious so I'm not going to mention the car or else it probably won't start the next time I go to take it for a ride. The F50 is OK but it doesn't put me in heat like the F40 or Zonda does! The 959, nice, but I'll stay with the Carrera GT. Glad you all enjoyed the reviews. Michael

How much was the dealer asking for the SLR? I hope it wasn't 600k or something like that...

If you search, some are selling it for around 400k according to other owners. Perhaps even less if you take it with a few extra miles on the clock... Still, a very expensive car. 2-4 times as expensive as a Maranello, but not 2-4 times as good.

It's often the case with the supercars... something cheaper does the trick almost as well (or sometimes even better).

Eh eh, my "baby" SLR does just fine for me now :p

You can only stretch rubber so far and the same goes for a person's financial capability no matter what bracket you're in. For me, to buy the McLaren SLR outright without a trade of the Maranello would be stupid financially on my part. I'd be stretching myself and my bank account a little thin. Remember, my last name isn't Trump, Gates or Murdock!!
Even then, I think one should also ask themselves the simple question of being able to devote enough time for each car

I think having 3-4 "supercars" is already great, and if you double that, you're halving the time spent with each one of them.

I drive approximately 20,000km's a year, and if I had 4 awesome cars I'd be spending only on avera 5000km's (a hair over 3000miles) on each of them, a year....

That's just not enough, you know, to correctly keep the engine and vehicle in general happy and in form  (well, you gotta give them their daily/weekly exersize, no ;) ).

As much as I'd like to dream of owning a 10 car garage, I think realistically, I'd just end up driving 2 or 3 cars regularly. That story of the Sultan's Nephews (or Brothers... forgot which), that would buy a new supercar on an almost weekly basis, trash it around and then leave it in one of their huge hangars once they got bored with it, just goes to show how quickly we lose the interest... a shame really.

Anyway, forgot to say thank you for the review of the SLR! Splendid =)

Even the owner whom I've known for years came over and told me 'how nice the car would look in my garage next to the others!' Heck yeah, at that price it would look good even by itself!

Or give you advanced driving courses with a racing driver for the model you were buying? No, not really but (MAG - Midwestern Auto Group - the Maranello) or Byers Auto Goup (the Carrera GT) both located in Columbus, Ohio, one of them offered me a trip to Germany for something, can't remember what because the thought of flying to Germany made my palms start sweating. Besides, all these cars were in stock at the various dealers. Wasn't I a lucky stiff! What's funny about my fear of flying was that my Dad used to tease the hell out of me. He said "Listen you dumb ass (affectionately), you don't make sense. You say you're afraid to fly in an airplane but you ride around everywhere on those damn motorcycles in all that traffic with those crazy drivers. Explain that to me?" You know what... Dad was hardly ever wrong! I couldn't argue with him.

Just wanna see what chances I have to have a collection of this kind of cars in the future :) If you don't mind, give me a couple days to figure that out. I'll start with my first car ever which was a 1956 Chevy 2-door 265 c.i. 2 barrel with a Hurst 3-speed shifter on the floor! Isn't it funny how I think we all remember the first car we ever owned possibly the best of all our previous cars even if the memories were good or bad? I've got a pretty neat list. Remember, I probably fit in the category of a 'spoiled brat'! I think the brat part was only for several years. OK, now it's time for the Murcielago. First let me say, back in I think July, after I got the Red F430 from Arizona and was infatuated with the car, I started thinking about buying a 6-speed coupe in a different color. I found a Burgundy 6-speed Coupe in Nevada or California on eBay and called the guy to chat. Really nice guy and he happened to mention he also had a Gallardo for sale. When asked if I was interested, I said that I had heard Lambos were not as reliable as a Ferrari. He immediately said that a Gallardo was an excellent car but the Murcie was just OK in his opinion. Probably said that cause he had the Gallardo for sale. Anyhow, I starting getting into heat for a Lambo shortly after talking to him.

At that time, my budget would only let me chase the Gallardo. So after calling all around, I found the car I wanted in Columbus, Ohio at the Nelson Auto Group (Lamborghini, Ohio). Made the deal, got the car, loved it and then started foaming at the mouth for the Murcielago. Well, my financial situation changed in early January and I had set a goal on getting the Murcie before or on my 58th birthday in February. I called the Nelson Auto Group where I bought my Gallardo, (Harvey Ford-excellent salesman and transaction) and told him I wanted a Green Murcie coupe. I like the Roadster but the top just makes the car look unfinished to me. Harvey was looking all over for my Green Murcie and meanwhile, I started searching on my own at dealers all over the U.S. Guess what I found in Dallas, Texas. Yep, my Green Murcie was there and waiting for me at Lamborghini Dallas.

I started working on a deal with Scott (their salesman-also excellent to work with) and over here in Ohio, Harvey and the gang were busting their rear to try and sell me a Yellow 06 Murcie they had in stock. Well, I wanted the Pearl Green more than the Yellow so I made a deal at a even better price than the Yellow one in Ohio. I was very, very happy. Car was delivered February 9th, one day after a new 2 car heated garage I had being built was finished. How's that for timing? The car is absolutely beautiful and that Pearl Green color is just unreal! Scott convinced me to get the E-gear because he said there's too much going on in the interior and I think he's right. The black interior with the green stitching is super fine.

One nice thing about the Lambos is the ability to push a button and the nose of the car raises about one and a half inches. Nice when you have to drive over speed bumps or mildly angled driveway entrances. Another nice feature is the electrically folding side view mirrors. Especially nice if you build a garage that's not wide enough for a Murcie and a Carrera GT in the same garage. What a dumb ass I am! The E-gear really shifts nice and smooth BUT.... you have to manually shift when going up in gears. It will downshift by itself when gradually coming to stop. A minor hassle since both my F1 Ferraris shift by themselves in their automatic mode. Full Auto-Mode is nice when you eating a burger or playing with you wife or girlfriend or both!! The dash is laid out nice and the heating system will blow you out of the car and I'm not kiddn! The radio doesn't have any preset buttons but it's east to operate. You choose the band you want, preset your channels and then just rotate the right knob left or right to find your station. I'm just use to preset buttons so it was a little confusing at first.

Rear view visibility is a little better than in the Carrera GT or Ford GT cause they suck in that category. There's plenty of decent seating room and leg room for me. Outside the lines of the car are fabulous! Just like the Gallardo, it's wild to see all those angles and edges instead of curves everywhere. The slats in the rear window are really trick looking. One bummer is that you can't manually raise the two upper engine side scoops and keep them UP all the time! They look vicious just like the mouth of JAWS when they're up but they depend on engine temperature to raise and lower. Somebody on LamboPower.com said if I raise them manually with the car running and then shut the car off, they will stay up.... ALL THE TIME - You have to take the car to a dealer to reset them to go down! Yeah, that really sounds like a great idea!

The car is wide.... kinda like the fat lady at the circus. You have to be careful with the lower rear side scoops if you go through drive-thrus so that you don't nail them on curbs. The engine.... the sound of those twelve cylinders will give you goose bumps all the time. She doesn't seem as loud as the Gallardo but very healthy, indeed! I'm not into aftermarket stuff, exhausts, wheels, wings etc., so she'll stay unadulterated till it's time to get a new one. The Murcie is sneaky fast. You'll be out on the freeway, look down at the speedo and DAMN, I'm really doing 85 or 90? You better have a Valentine One or you're going to be 'up the creek' real quick.

I'll tell you this, cruise around in a Murcie and people look at it like it's a Flying Saucer! Plus with that nice and subtle Pearl Green color, the 'HULKSTR' could get me into trouble real fast if my girlfriend keeps going out of town!! TT and Jabba are helping me with the pics so they'll be on tomorrow I hope. If you're ever in need of help here on JW, give one of them a PM, they're really two great guys.

Hey TT, did my DNA and blood tests come back yet?

p.s.s. I forgot to let you know about my 58th birthday and the cake my girlfriend had made for me. It was fantastic but the funny part was the dye the baker use was so strong, after eating a bite or two, your teeth would turn green. Her sister took a bite and I told her she looked like she just gave the 'Incredible Hulk' a blowjob (I was a little drunk at the time so it seemed the right thing to say!) She and her sister both laughed their asses off! Had a great time!

Thanks for yet another write up! The Murci is such a sexy car and so desirable! I totally agree about the air intakes, but well, I am not sure what the guy said to make them stay up all the time is correct: when I shoot this Murcielago: http://www.swisscarsightings.com/indepth/pages/indepthlamborghinimurcielago.html in one of the last locations I asked the owner to open them (3rd row). He turned on the car, manually opened them and switched off the car.. they closed down LOL, so we had to keep the car running to have them open :bah:

you know, if i had such a beast... i dont doubt i'd stop for some fast food somewhere with it  i'd be a tad worried about the ultra-wide body; and ride hight... right now, that is definately not a care in the world in my mind with a Jeep

its also good you got the better deal ;) i haven't sat in a Murci yet, but i do agree the FGT has terrible rear visibility. I guess i wouldn't have thought the V12 sounds more understated then the Gallardo's V10.

Nice review of the Murcie and Gallardo. Looking forward to the rest.

I am sure the moment you step inside a car showroom, the salesmen put on their best impression of Pavlovian dogs salivating uncontrollably with the sound of cash registers Ka-ching-ing in the background :)

I know it is isnt my place to offer a suggestion about the SLR but I think you should keep the Maranello - it is a much better car in my humble opinion.

I know it is isnt my place to offer a suggestion about the SLR but I think you should keep the Maranello - it is a much better car in my humble opinion. Ditto on the Maranello! I totally agree. It seems easier and more fun to drive. And it's amazing how many young kids (16 to early 20s) gawk at the car when I drive by. I'm not putting the SLR down in any way, I'm just saying I prefer the Maranello. True about the salesmen. They're like flies on dog poop when they see my mug! What's really strange though, and my girlfriend and I talk about this all the time, is that once the sale is over, I usually get a call a few weeks later asking how I like the car and if there is anything they can do. And then...... they disappear! I haven't heard from any salesman yet that sold me one of those cars asking me months later if everything is OK and would I like to buy something else. Although the F430 salesman in Scottdale, Arizona had a person from the dealership call and ask me if I was interested in a Super America. Beautiful car!!! When I asked how much, he said $375K. After I got up off the floor, I told him thanks for the call but a the present time, I really wasn't interested. My girlfriend says that she'd call me once a month (of course she does that now!) just to check in with me and MAKE SURE everything was OK. She said if she was my salesperson, she'd be my best friend for the rest of my life. It is very puzzling to me especially since they don't have to pay for their calls or mail. Strange!!

^^ True it is not for nothing that Evo magazine named the 550 the best car of the decade.

We all live vicariously thru you man! Keep on trucking!! Let me honestly say something. When I bought the first car I ever owned , a 1956 Chevy 2 door, it was the most valuable thing in my life at 16. I loved and still love that car. It was the first of a long line of cars I owned but I truely remember tons of things about that car. I've been very fortunate in life being adopted by two loving parents and then having a Father who busted his ass his whole life working and creating a very successful company to make sure he, my mother and sister and myself had a wonderful life. Everybody can't be as lucky as I was but they can have a car that means everything in the world to them just like my 56 Chevy meant to me when I was young. I respect every person for who they are and not what they have. As long as they're a decent and respectable person, they're my friend and their car to me is as good as ANY one of my cars! Friends are hard to find and even harder to keep. If you have a 1961 Volkswagen, to me that car is great and i'll recall stories when I was a kid about how neat that car was. Thank you for your compliment and that's why I enjoy doing these reviews and sharing pictures of my cars with all of you. I want you as my friend as much as I NEED YOU AS MY FRIEND!!!!! :D

I think we have enough "proof" and honesty that has been displayed to accept mag as a new honourable member in good standing.

Afterall, if someone went to these lengths just to "fool" us then it wouldn't be us that are the "Internet losers". :)

So, I say lets just relax and enjoy the cars for what they are, and mag as a new JW'er.

:)

Besides 2300 views in 3 days for a post with no porn must be close to a JW record... :P ;) Heck, I almost had to dial 911 when I got this post from RC. He really tore me a new a-hole the first time I chimed in to JW forum. But as you can see, he can be a good kid! Maybe his shoes are just too tight somedays and he takes it out on us! The Z06... I want one pretty bad but I can't because they don't come with an automatic and I would love to get it for my girlfriend to cruise around in but she can't drive stick. Hell, she can't even spell stick! Remember...... she's a Blonde. Unless the guys on CorvetteForum.com are humongus bullshitters, they're talking about low 11s in the quarter mile. That's some serious E.T. for a street legal machine! I've had several Corvettes in my life and they are excellent sports cars for the money. The second car I ever owned was a brand new 1966, 427 c.i., 425 h.p. 4-speed Corvette convertible. I don't need to tell you what they're worth today. Remember what I said about other people's cars. As long as their good people, their cars are great and you should tell them so. Jagging back and forth is fun though!!

I can't say I blame you. From my perspective, one only really needs to worry about the gas mileage if you're tight on cash and need a car that's economical to drive. I realize that sounds like a rather asshole-ic thing to say but I am currently in such a position, so it pays for me to keep tabs and baby the car. On the other hand, if you've got cars that you drive purely for the enjoyment of driving, as you obviously do mag, then the pleasure of driving is payment enough for the amount of fuel consumed. I've been driving an RX8 for the last year and while it's no supercar, it's got a brilliantly balanced chassis and is extremely chuckable, unlike most other cars I've driven so far. I drove it like it was meant to be driven and put nearly 21k on it while getting regular mileage of around 17mpg...no comparison for your beasts I'm sure, but not so great for an RX8 which when babied can return mid-twenties.

At any rate, I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that if you're having fun driving then I figure that the money you spend on gas is money you're spending on entertainment, money that would be spent on other forms of entertainment anyway. Again, thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and cars with us, you've got a fab collection to which I hope to aspire one day :-)

Since there seems to be a lot of various people from all over the world on this JW forum thread, I was wondering if some of you could give me your opinions or first hand knowledge of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I just read somewhere that they boosted the HP up to 520 hp and it's second in hp to only the 997 Turbo. Did I read that right? Secondly, how does the car drive, does it have a decent amount of room in the interior, how are the other ammenities and do you think it would be a better, more fun SUV than the Range Rover? I've had Range Rovers since the late 80s and I love them. Very minor problems every once in a while and I was just wondering if it's time for a change? I've never really looked at a Cayenne to closely because I think in looks it's just OK and I've been totally satisfied with the Range Rover. Should I just stay where I'm at? Thanks guys, Michael :D

the looks of the Cayenne/Toureg have been growing on me as of late. its still not as good as what Land rovers look IMO... but everything i hear first had about the Cayenne Turbo (the s isn't available til fall 06 as a MY07 i think) points to it being both a capable SUV; and amazing on paved surfaces concidering its hight, and bulk.... this is only coming from men so far... the women i've seen driving the Cayenne turbo seem to almost always have a cell in thier ear

there is already a powerkit option for the 955; i think it bumps it near 500 hp; and the S is 520 hp running a few more bar.

and yes, it's the new Turbo S which has 520hp, second powerful Porsche after the CarreraGT :D

Personally I never drove a Cayenne :bah:, I can't give you a review. From the reviews, car magazines etc. the Cayenne gets good critics. For sure you'll get Porsche quality :good:, maybe the car is less "offroad"-oriented than a Range Rover <-- maybe because I never saw a Cayenne in the mud so far  .

I see a lot of Cayennes in St.Moritz (if you don't know St.Moritz, it's called the Aspen of the Alps or vice versa  , and there one can spot many Cayennes :) .
Among the regular Porsche models, there are mainly two tuners which have the Cayenne in their brochures.

I guess you are not interested in a tuned Cayenne: just in case you would like to browse their sites

the question is more New RangeRover or Cayenne ? Now....now....now kids.... let's not fight. I really need an SUV because of Winters here in Ohio. If we didn't have all the snow and such, I'd probably buy an Aston Martin DB9 and pretend to be James Bond for a while! When I had the BMW Z8, because of the Bond movie, I think my plate on that read 'NOT BOND'! I really appreciate all your suggestions. I guess I'm really trying to ascertain (I love big words - just wish I knew what the hell they meant) if the Cayenne Turbo S is a lot more fun for the $20K or more sticker.

The Range Rovers have been.... berry....berry.... good to me! One advantage of the Range Rovers is that the Ohio dealership comes and picks the car up and takes it back to Akron, Ohio when any kind of service is needed and doesn't even charge me for the loaner they leave. I'll be leasing 3 this Fall .... Oh yeah, of course, I forgot to mention that I get the 'EX' a new Range Rover every two years too. I had been with her for a total of 30 years between dating and then marriage and she gave me four beautiful children and took good care of me for most of those 30 years...... so I feel a strong moral obligation to continue to take care of her in return! The Porsche dealer whom I would get the Turbo S off of, in Sewickly, Pennsylvania, (had a bad experience from the local dealer here in Boardman, Ohio when I bought the GT2),I don't think does that kind of service ammentity. That means a lot to me! So this is my present quandary. Help guys! I need your input on looks (the car - not me!), the performance, every day versatility and personal driving pleasure. :?

The only thing I can honestly lay claim to is that I loved my Father and Mother very much and would have taken a bullet for them any time in my life!! ^^

Well...from what I've read, the Cayenne is quite capable both on and off-road, but has a harsher ride than the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The 4.5L V8 is a gem especially in turbo form, but several reviews I've read of the new Turbo S make it out to be a marketing exercise more than anything else. Truly, a large SUV that'll tackle the 0-60mph dash in around 5-and-a-half seconds is quite nippy especially if it tops out at 165mph. The S's performance gains for the 70bhp advantage aren't that spectacular and probably aren't worth the extra money.

Then there's the styling. I may well be exposing myself for some flamage here, but I don't particularly care for the Cayenne's looks. To me it looks a bit like Porsche tried to lay the "fried egg" headlights and swoopy bodywork of the 996 on an SUV and it's not very effective. The rear end is alright I suppose, rather bland actually, but the nose is pretty hideous IMHO. The interior quality will likely be quite good and functional, but nothing to write home about whereas, I'm sure you feel like you're sitting in the lap of luxury in the Rangies you've got at the moment. The interior accoutrements in the Range Rover product line is substantially superior.

In addition, it sounds like you've had a wonderful ownership experience with the Range Rovers you've got now, especially with customer service, and that in and of itself is an important consideration from my point of view, as if a company doesn't want to deal with you as a customer, then it's probably best to avoid giving them your business...(rule 1: The Customer is always right. rule 2: If the customer's wrong, see rule #1 etc...etc...)

Anyway, I've been spouting magazine-like opinions, but hopefully they're at least somewhat helpful. Your best shot would probably be talking to st-anger, he's our resident Porschephile and has had some experience with the 955.

My living experience with the 2005 Ferrari F1 F430. After I purchased the 575 Maranello in late June of last year, 2005, I immediately fell in love with Ferrari. I originally wanted a F430 but when I asked the salesman (Mike Finneran of MAG - Midwestern Auto Group in Columbus, Ohio) if I could get one of them, he chuckled politely and said there was at least a 2-3 year waiting list. But then he mentioned that they had a brand new 2004 Ferrari Maranello demo with only 110 miles on it. I asked why such low mileage and he said the owner was driving it as his demo and since they had 15 other brands of cars, he changed demos brands frequently, thus the low mileage. So we struck up a deal and I had my first Ferrari. Whoa Daddy!! It was all downhill from there! I was instantly a Ferrari addict! That's when I knew I had to have the F430! So my search began.

Since I didn't know where to look first, I thought, how about eBay? Well..... isn't that where you find everything you always wanted? After a couple weeks of searching, I found one at Scottsdale Ferrari in Arizona. She only had 117 miles on her but it was listed as used.... not a demo. This is where I begin to have trouble with Ferrari. They are SO much in demand that there's this outrageous game the dealers play. The following statement is MY belief and NOT a substantiated fact! They get someone to buy the car new and put say 200-400 miles on it. Then this person brings it back to the dealer who in turn buys it back (I'm guessing after giving the first owner the FULL purchase price AND a couple extra K dollars for his trouble). Don't you feel sorry for this poor guy? The dealership then sets the price to whatever the market will command because it is now a used car (usually something insane)! I've been told that Ferrari Proper does not allow Dealers to sell their cars above the Factory sticker. Thus the GAME! The sticker on my car read $187K but I had (well, they really weren't holding a gun to my head!) to pay $260K or else buy a Mattel Hot Wheels F430 model. You just can't get them unless you're on the 'so called list'! As the great comedian W.C. Fields once said: "Sometimes a man has to grab the bull by the tail and face the situation!"

I picked this particular F430 because of its low mileage (all the others on eBay had at least 400 miles or more). It also had the F-1 Transmission, Ferrari Red brake calipers, the Scuderia Shields, Carbon Fiber interior trim panels, rear Leather Shelf, the Leather Headliner, CD changer and the leather seats also had Red stitching AND Red piping to match. I actually didn't buy t it off eBay auction but called the dealer and hammered (yeah...RIGHT) out a deal. After closing the purchase, they arranged the shipping and I waited and waited and waited. Then I was told, all of a sudden, that the shipping was going to be a little more. All in all, it took close to a month to get my F430.

I had the trucker bring it to a small plaza in Poland because there was plenty of room for him to unload the car. BUT... the room wasn't the big problem.... the car's dead battery was! We couldn't even start the car to back it off the truck since it did have a dead battery. Wonderful! After much brainstorming and lots of swear words, we decided to manually push it back a few feet so he could open the side door of the car hauler and I was able to open the passenger door of the F430 and crawl into the car and take the passenger firewall kick plate off so we could get to the dead battery. Good thing he had one of those portable self contained battery chargers. I then touched the cables to the battery posts and BAM... a few sparks flew. Scared the hell out of me! Well, we got it started and backed it out of the truck. Then a small surprise arose..... the speedo was screwed up! It read 55.555 miles or something crazy like that. I was afraid that I had just zapped the electrical system! Great, just great!

I got her home that night, put a Battery Tender on and two days later after the battery came back to full charge, I read the owners manual and decided to try and reset the car's security system code. Bingo, the speedo was back to normal! Phew!

The F430 is absolutely the easiest of all my cars to drive. It's almost idiot proof (perfect for me!) You turn the key, put your foot on the brake, push the red start button, push the reverse R button on the console, back her out of the garage, touch the right upshift paddle for first gear and you're off and running! I like to keep her in the Automatic Mode. It's comfortable as heck and there's plenty of interior shoulder and leg room and the rear visibility is near excellent (probably the best of all the cars I have). The F1 shifts pretty smooth but sometimes in the AUTO mode, it tends to hold on to the Rs a little too long. The interior leather quality makes you feel like you're sitting on a King's throne! Absolutely stunning workmanship! The dash is laid out beautifully with red stitching everywhere and very easy to read gauges and a huge Yellow (in my car) RPM gauge. The radio is fairly easy to operate but the station digits and setting buttons are a little too small to see if you wear reading glasses (like ME) and don't have them with you. I also have the leather rear shelf and headliner plus the carbon fiber dash panels which really help to dress up the interior even more.

Then there's that that ENGINE..... oh my God!! It screams like a dozen hornets nests that were just broke open and they're all right behind your head chasing you ass wherever you go! Even if you get on it just a little, she whines and screams with an intensity that's hard to imagine. You absolutely have to hear it to believe it! There have been several posts elsewhere on the web that have said "forget the Tubi and other aftermarket exhaust systems, the F430 factory exhaust is absolutely perfect." Boy are they right and not kiddin a bit! Not only does she sound great, she flies with the 'greatest of ease'. The F430 just wants to try and chew up anything in its way. Touch the throttle and she jumps like a beautiful woman that's just been goosed! I'm telling you, this car is a rocket ship in the true sense of the word!

I've read various road tests all over about how fast the Murcie , the Carrera GT and the Ford GT are and you and I both know they're true. BUT, I think the F430 may be able to tickle their asses a little and give them a surprise. One thing you must remember: I personally haven't thrashed any of my cars yet because of needed break-in mileage. Although in reality, I usually don't try to set any Land Speed records anyway. IMHO, the F430 is a fantastic car that any owner would be proud of and never regret purchasing. Plus, I'm pretty sure their resale value will retain the highest percentage of the purchase price of all the supercars I own. That's certainly worth a little smile anyway.

There may be SLIGHTLY faster supercars cars (acceleration and top speed) around, but none that I think are so easy to drive and enjoy. The F430 is the true meaning of the phrase 'Let's Rock and Roll!' p.s. I accidentally forgot to put on pictures of any of the previous car interiors. Starting with this F430, I will do so and hopefully I can send the other interior pics to TT and he will put them on for me in the Gallardo and Murcielago reviews. Sorry about that! I hope you enjoy this review and the others (the Ford GT, the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Maranello) will follow shortly in a day or two.

I forgot to mention the rear picture of her with the license plate X HIPPIE. I purposely took it with the car running and the exhaust smoke surrounding the plate. Kinda looks a little psychedelic, doesn't it? Now you know why I picked that plate!

Yeah the game that you mentioned is a well known fact where certain buyers flip their cars after driving it for <1000 miles and sell it at cost to the dealer who then can sell it at a mark-up to other buyers. The flippers are favored by dealers and always land up early in the waiting list of every new model that comes out.

There are three ways to handle the Ferrari situation, buy new at MSRP but be prepared to wait for X years - in the meantime by a older model to keep you satisfied till the new one arrives or Option B, bite the bullet and buy a flipped car at a premium, or lastly option C, wait 2-3 years till there is a hint of the new model coming out and then pick up the current car at a depreciated price.

The 360 Modena is a good example. When it came out it was flipping at 250K for some time - people who bought the Spider paid 300K for it which is a amazing 100K premium. But now you can pick it for 150K for car in really good condition.

Whether one chooses option A,B,C it doesn't matter - you get a fabulous car and that is all that is important.

The good news is that the flipping premium on the 430 coupe and spider has deflated a bit now. So that is good for future buyers.

Great review of your 430 BTW ...

^ maybe you missed that he's driving a Range Rover as a daily car ...
the question is more New RangeRover or Cayenne ?
No, I didn't miss that bit. But I think that boosting power to 520 will make the Cayenne into an enjoyable ride for me.

It's a good relaxed pimp mobile, but... I just don't find it exciting like a two seater does.

sorry  , got your sentence wrong...

totally agred with saadie. Thanks for reviews and waiting for others.Last year I watched a Fifth Gear episode about Vicky Butler Henderson's mom drived a Murcielago with E-gear and she drived very well for a supercar virgin. And Vicky said "Yes it is too easier to drive this e-gear murcielago than old manual gerbox lamborghinis" . Your Gallardo has e-gear.What are you saying about that is this is to drive gallardo too?

You know what's nice is that I appreciate reading your responses to my reviews of the cars as much as you enjoy reading the little 'stories' themselves. Every purchase of those cars actually did have some small drama and a little bit of comedy behind them. Now I think I know how 'Dear Abbey' felt reading all the letters and answering them. For me it's really exciting 'talking' to people all over the world!

Now I have to claim the title 'Dummy of the Day!' Our friend, TT, has been the one responsible for uploading or downloading or sideloading or whatever the proper term is for inserting the pictures of my cars. Maybe he can answer the question of yours about having the pics as 'zip files'. I tried for days, even with all their help (Jabba too), to learn how to do it and I flunked the course. It's almost the same scenario as when I first went to college at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio U.S.A. After only spending two quarters there, do you believe they kicked me out of college with a three five average? Of course it was a .35 average!!! Yeah... the second quarter I didn't even buy the books for classes. I used the money for all night carousing and eating hamburgers and drinking Coca Cola every night at a famous (all night-I think) restaurant called the 'CHAR BAR.' Had a great time though! It was a little tough coming home to Mom and Dad and trying to explain what happened. See.... I told you I was kinda a 'little spoiled brat' at ONE time in my life.

Honestly, thanks guys for all the compliments and I kook forward to doing the next car review. How about the Porsche Carrera GT sometime today? As the Terminator once said, "Hasta la Vista . . . baby!" and "I'll be back". You'll see why I used these famous Terminator's quotes in the next installment! Michael

In my review of the Gallardo and Murcielago, I hope that I mentioned the Gallardo is a 6 speed and the Murcie is a E-gear. It's really nice to have the different transmissions for comparison sake. The Gallardo being a little smaller and more nimble, seems to be a perfect fit for the 6 speed. The Murcie's E-gear is a real pleasure to drive and makes it a easier to hook up with those 'millions and millions' of horsepower under the hood!

I'm with you on that, really liked to know what it's like to live with and defenetly how difficult it was to obtain.

All your reviews are a pretty good read, maybe you should become a car journalist. :D It's never too late you know! Thanks for you're suggestion but I really don't seem to have such a good history in "Institutions of Higher Education'! They just can't 'learn' me anything. See... see what I mean!

Didn't do too much better job wise. Once had a job at Lordstown, Ohio which is a GM manufacturing plant. After a week on the assembly line, I almost had a nervous breakdowm trying to stay up with the line output. I'm still convinced all those other guys on the line with me were really robots cause they just hummed along like nothing was bothering them, My Father once jokingly (I think) accused me of being a lazy bum and said that he thought that I thought 'Manual Labor was the President of Puerto Rico'! Dad was always good at busting my ass and calling it like it was. Think he was right?? :silly:

BTW do your parents still with us? Just curious  I'm glad you can feel yourself in the Ferrari F430. That makes me feel that at least I can do something halfway right. Dad would be proud of me! No, unfortunately, Mom passed away in 1987. She came here as a young immigrant from Russia as did her whole family. My Father just, and I say just cause it feels like only several months ago, passed away in September of 2003 only 3 months after being diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. But, I can thank God that he didn't suffer at all! It was all so quick. He was 84 and lived a very good life. He certainly deserved it. It's unreal. Every time I talk about or mention my Mother nad Father, tears of love come to my eyes. Kinda like now and in a post I made a few days ago. I guess it means I loved them more than anything is this world. Thank you very much for asking about them. Michael

p.s. I just backed the Carerra GT and the F430 out of the garage and took some more exterior and interior pictues of them. I think you're really going to enjoy the review of the Carrera GT which I'm going to start on very shortly today after I send the F430 pictures to TT so he can put them on the F430 post.

how you speak of your parents, and in particular, your father... it reminds me quite dearly of my own grandfather, who passed away in October of 2003 @ 83 years old. The man had not one single bone in his body that could harbor ill feelings about another; he was always trying to help... even as he grew older, and more feeble. we were extremely close... and unfortunate family circumstances allowed that to happen when i was growing up. Everybody loved him, and looked to him for guidance; and like you... it still feels like it was only a few months back.

your buying experience of the F430 seems very much like how I have heard its' done; even here in MI where people know exactly how much thier cars are worth; Ferrari's dont exactly follow suite. the few times i've seen an F430 on the road (twice so far) the sound was spectacular; and seemed to crave revs... even at downtown speeds of 25 or so MPH... the car commands presence, like not even the 360 can... if only by its engine note.

by your review, it seems ferrari really did re-create "the greatest car in the world" that many reviewers thought the 360 modena failed at being.

thanks for the review :D

Ahhh, now it's time for the Terminator, the fabulous Porsche Carrera GT. Here's the story. I had just purchased the Ford GT in January of 2005. I was very happy, sitting at home and quite satisfied with the Ford GT and my ass kickin 2003 Yellow Porsche GT2.

So, one day I'm talking to a friend of mine at a restaurant and he mentions that he just saw an outrageous car up in Cleveland at a Porsche dealer. He says it's a called a Carrera GT and it's unreal. Oh yeah, I tell him, I've seen that car online and in magazine pictures. It looks like a spaceship on wheels. He gives me the dealers name and I tell my girlfriend that night that she and I are going to go to Cleveland one day to JUST look at it. Yeah right! Why is it that every time somebody mentions a neat car to me, I hear a lot of oh damn, look at his eyes!

Well, I was eating my guts out wanting to see the car so guess what? We went up two days later. The salesman takes us over to see the CGT and UH O...... I'm in trouble! There's drool running down my face, my girlfriend's talking to me and I don't even know she's there and on top of that, I just wet my pants! You gotta be kiddin me! Is this thing real or is it a concept car that NASA developed?

He sits down inside the car and starts it up. Revs it up and up and up and then asks me what I think? Huhhh.....? I'm busy catching flies with my mouth wide open. I close my eyes and imagine that I'm in the movie 'Grand Prix' with James Garner and Yves Montand or in 'LeMans' with Steve McQueen!!!

My head is spinning and I got this s _ _ t eating grin on my face. How the hell can I somehow manage to buy this car? He asks me if I would like to sit down and try and work out a deal (we drove the 03 GT2 up there to show them we weren't pulling their chains about being serious on the car). Nah, I don't want to try and work out a deal just like I don't want to make love to Pam Anderson, Elle McPherson, Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba all at the same time!

So we sit down and pound numbers and then I say the heck with it. I give him a number I think is right and tell him if he can get the deal to that number, he's got a sale. He asks me to give him a day and he'll get back to me. I'm waiting the next day with my head down on my desk crying cause he hasn't called me back yet.

OK, well then I'll just call other dealers to get a quote and to keep him honest on top of that. I call Columbus, Ohio, Byers Automotive Group, talk to Michael Kirkham and he along with his GM are pounding numbers left and right. They get within a few dollars of where I want to be and I say I have to give the Cleveland dealer one last chance to give me his price. Just for the heck of it, I also called the Cincinnati Porsche dealer and they want time to work out a deal. I DON"T have time..... I want that car RIGHT NOW! You guys know what I mean, don't you?

That afternoon, Cleveland calls and gives me a price. Good but not there yet. Anyhow, to make a long story short, Cleveland and Columbus are battling it out to make the sale. Columbus gets to the price and even below and I'm happy. Cleveland ain't and they try and make another offer. I'm having a mental breakdown answering my cell phone every 5-10 minutes. Finally, I tell my girlfriend I'm done, I can't take it any more. You make the final deal. Whatever it is, I'm OK with it. I not talking to anyone else! Honest!

She makes the deal at 3 or 4 that afternoon and Columbus wants to deliver it that night! Huh? OK with me!

They deliver her in an enclosed trailer around 7 p.m. that night. I guess they were worried I might change my mind. Felt good though getting approved on a $443,800 car in only an hour or so..... Thanks again DAD!!

Well, we're trying to unload her with regular aluminum ramps and 12-14 ft wooden extension 2 x 12s. First try, craaaack, the wooden boards break in half. After close to an hour or so, we finally get her off the trailer. Damn does she sits so lowwww. Anything taller than an ANT on the road better get the hell out of the way!

This machine is unreal, honestly! It really IS a race car on the street. You try and get in.... of course it's easier if your related to Harry Houdini cause you have to be a contortionist to have a chance of sitting down. Well almost.... I have the XT or XL seats which means they're made for us fat ass Americans. I almost fit... just gotta lose 50 or 75 lbs. Just kiddin...... they really hug your butt. If you're claustrophobic, this is not the car for you. If you and a passenger are in the car, don't both of you turn toward each other at the same time or one of you will wind up with a broken nose! I guess I'm trying to say, the cabin is certainly cozy. The gearshift lever in the middle of the upright console is surprisingly easy to operate and has a great feel.

The instruments are easy to read. The radio is pretty good, but unless you've got reading glasses of about 5x, you've got no chance of seeing what the hell you're doing or what station you're listening to. The car's leather seats and dash are of excellent quality. Great seating position. You put the key in, start the car (hope I remembered to wear my diaper) and ohhh my good God! What I have I got in my hands. Darth Vader doesn't have anything on this ride.

You start to back her out of the garage and then hey..... what's going on. There's nothing behind me. That's because you can't SEE squat behind you! The only car with worse rear vision is the Ford GT. Women, children and pets, run for your lives!

When I first tried to drive the car, I remember reviews telling me not to give it gas at first but to just slip the clutch and as she starts rolling, then give her some fuel. They were right! 2 to 3 times in the first few weeks that I drove her, I stalled it in heavy traffic making a turn. Really makes you look like an ass and scares the hell out of you! I think I've finally got it down pat now, but it's still in the back of my mind and haunts me. The gas and brake pedals are floor mounted, which may contribute to the lack of ease starting out because it's a different feeling for me.

The ride is pretty firm and the first time we took it on the road, we both looked over at each other because neither of us could hear the radio and had to speak fairly loud to be heard owing to the fact of the road noise and engine whine. I guess we're use to it now.

This car is 'stupid fast'. If you're an idiot you'll be in trouble very quickly! One night coming home from our restaurant, some jerk off was playing with me and since I had a few drinks in me, I said like in the movie 'Network', "I'm not going to take it anymore." We're going over a freeway bridge at the time and I goose it and she starts going sideways a little. Whoaa Daddy! Brilliant! That took care of my desire to be Evil Knievel.

As you'll see in the pics, there's carbon fiber everywhere. Seats, door sills, dash, rear wing struts and the complete belly pan. They said don't run over anything bigger than a pebble or your insurance company is not going to be too happy replacing the belly pan to the tune of $30-40K! (That's what the dealer told me)

Other than the clutch, the only other minor pain seems to be that the transmission is a cold bugger.... especially in Winter. She takes at least 2-3 miles or more to warm up so you don't have to granny shift to avoid grinding some gears.

Probably the funniest thing I've been told is this girl that I eventually met at a later time said she saw and heard me coming down the street in her Porsche Boxster's rear view mirror and didn't know what the heck it was. She said as I flew past her, she STILL didn't know what the hell just zoomed by.... but she told me she definitely heard it! This CGT sounds just like a F1 in the right rev zone at speed or when revved up at a stand still. Wanna be just like Michael Schumaker someday? Start saving your shekels cause this is the car you want!

I think the plate ' ILL B BAC' fits her perfectly...... how about you? Michael

p.s. Couple things I forgot to mention. First the letter T on the back of the car is off. I was drying the car off one day and a string on the towel snagged the letter and pulled it off. It's stuck on with something like double sided tape. You'd think they would mount it better. Cheap ass car!!

Secondly, The lugs that hold the wheel on are spinoffs. Notice the difference in the color of the spinoff on the right vs the left. Again this is so dumb asses like me don't screw things up.

Lastly, TT had asked me to send some cutom pics to verify I was a true owner of these cars. After we got things straightened out, I started thinking..... hmmmm..... custom pic. Well, you'll see one pic of 'the Terminator' between trees to kind of give it that artistic look. What do you think? Let's see now..... if I buy another dozen cars or so and do write-ups and pics of them all, I'll bet I could get pretty good at my literary skills and my photography excellence. Ernest Hemmingway and Ansel Adams...... lookout ! 8)

You have great cars, you have time to share your passion and you are posting like mad on a new forum you just discovered! We can't ask for more honestly :D

Waiting for the pics BTW :)

Oh yes, I have a question: even if you don't drive them a lot, do you take part in meetings/drives/etc? Do you have pics of your cars elsewhere? :) not that the driveway pics aren't my likings, but I am a real pictures freak, so the more, the better ;)

TT, I'm kinda a homebody. I don't like to fly because I'm afraid and I have 5 dogs, a cat and a wild rabbit (broken legs) that I saved from the hawks flying around. I usually can go anywhere where I can be back in 4 or 5 hours at the most because of my dedication to my pets. It males it tough to go the large meets in major cites. That is something I do miss though. Michael :(

What about putting together a meeting like the Crystal Cover car show in your driveway? So ppl will come at you and you won't have to move at all :P

If Michael is ok with it; once some of this warmer weather heads to the Mid-West; I'll be more then happy to do a barage of photos, both for Michael, and JW; and work some Video footage in... its been since high school; but i still know a few tricks of shooting video, and editing.

obviously, the video would take more time to complete then the pictures.

BTW
I just read your review of the Terminator  god... that nearly is instant gratification; for such a profound beast... not to mention, those vultures we call "salesmen" seem to flock about hardly waiting for the kill

without a doubt, the Porsche CGT is my favorite car in production today... and i'm not embarrassed to say that i like it even more then the legendary F40, and F50 :-D

your review makes it feel as though i am in the drivers' seat; or recalling "network" (a well done movie BTW) when some wannabe is coaxing me to show what the CGT is really about. Porsche has such a strong racing heritage; their seemingly endless sprawl of victories in group C in the 80's; their rediculous outright victories at Le Mans... and of course... thier cars. The CGT is something i dont think i could ever think would get old... embarrased while turning, and stalling... well, i'd get over it :P

In my opinion, it is the car in your stable of many fine steads. thanks for sharing this passion :-D

Are you able to stretch your cars legs even in the Winter with out any problems? I'm sure you'll be out more once the summer months start coming a long.. i drive my cars all year long. In the Winter, obviously not in snow or as long as there's no salt dust or small gravel from snow removal. During the rest off the year, I won't drive them in the rain mainly because I don't like to get the undercarriage or engine compartment wet and dirty from road splash. Also, as I stated before, I take them out in order so each car gets it's share of road work just like 'Rocky'. Thanks :multi:

in digital format anyway  that is the largest i've printed from my own camera so far; and with how big that is, I dont really have a reason for going bigger  ... it is possible; but the faux resolution may start to suffer much beyond that... @ 20"X30" ITS 116.8 real DPI; and if they run at 300 dpi resolution, then there are 183.2 calculated DPI which still looks quite good. :) but i'm not sure how much larger it can go while still looking really sharp (i'll bring down an example or two to give you an idea).

i was wondering .... where ever supercars are involved ppl always talk about practaclity ... like Martin Brundle Supercars ... its complete bullshit imo .....
anyways ... since you are one of those owners who dont 'thrash' the car arround ... tell us ... which one of the cars that u've kept is most practical :)

magwheel
03-25-2006, 07:02 AM
 Hmmmmm? Practicality? Oh yeah! Had to look it up to make sure I knew what YOU meant. practical |ˈpraktikəl| adjective (1) of or concerned with the actual doing or use of something rather than with theory and ideas : there are two obvious practical applications of the research. • (of an idea, plan, or method) likely to succeed or be effective in real circumstances; feasible : neither of these strategies is practical for smaller businesses. • suitable for a particular purpose : a practical, stylish kitchen. • (of a person) sensible and realistic in their approach to a situation or problem : I'm not unfeeling, just trying to be practical. • (of a person) skilled at manual tasks : Steve'll fix it—he's quite practical.

I guess you're asking me, which car would I'd take to the grocery store to get 7 or 8 bags of groceries or to Lowes to pick up some plywood or to? to? to? I'm just being a smart ass! Absolutely none of them are practical unless I can park it where nobody can park next to me IMO. And, I won't carry any kinds of junk in them which might possibly damage those work of art interiors.

Whereever I go, I park in outer Siberia and on an angle, hoping everybody understands what I'm suggesting. Since I do park so far away, people usually don't get POd about my angles!

I guess the least practical is the Ford GT, Carrera GT and Murcielago ONLY because of their minimum, lack of or crappy rear visibility. It's a pain in the ass.... really. You're so damn concerned of what's behind you that you think you can't see, that it drives you nuts. The Maranello, Gallardo and F430 don't have that problem so you're more relaxed, BUT.... I would feel comfortable to take ANY of my cars anywhere (although, again remember my parking dilemma!) If I can keep an eye on them, then their safe to take. If I can't see them....... I can't take them. Kinda like a young baby, NO, not me! I mean the cars.

You wouldn't leave a very young child alone would you? Well, since my real kids are all grown up now, these are now my young kids (not forgetting about all my 5 dogs and cat and wild rabbit)! They're all easy to drive........ ummmm....... well except the CGT racecar. But that's what makes it nice and what makes each car exciting and such a thrill to get into every day. They all have slightly different personalities in certain ways. Whenever I get into a car for that day, I mumble the words of Austin Powers..... "Yeah Baby, let's get it on!"

Now you know why I say I won't really thrash one or any of my cars. I love them too much to beat em up! Like my children..... oh yeah.... already said that! Michael :silly:

I don't do the angle thing, but I always park miles away from all the other cars - hate dings.

Besides, it is good to get a bit of exercise.

As for practicality, what does that mean - we are a one car family - me, wife and 2 dogs. We have an S2000 and we cope! I can hire a pickup if I need to shift something, the 4 of us will just about fit in the car and it's comfy enough for a trip to walk the dogs or go to the vets.

Sidenote: We have a (wild) rabbit also, and a couple of toads - our dogs like to play with the toads but they soon hop off under the fence...You just don't see wild animals in the UK (I'm English BTW) as most residential areas are long-established and all the wildlife migrated years before I was born...

^^ 2 people and 2 dogs in a S2000 ... that's a picture I would like to see ... I can't believe it :)

I also park my car far away from the maddening crowd. This is an absolute must in crazy places like Walmart where there are so many beat up cars, rushed moms with 3 bawling kids for whom making sure that they dont bang that nice shiny car next to them is very low on their agenda.

I am a lot less paranoid about my car now. I used to go bonkers earlier if someone scratched it. Now I am a lot more peaceful about it. But I am sure if I had a Ferrari or something my paranoia will re-emerge. :)

Those reviews are super nice to read Michael. I almost always like a review of the actual owner over one done by a journalist. An owner's review is more 'down to earth', gives a more realistic and closer view. What I personally really like about your reviews is the fact you don't only post about driving the car, but also how you purchased it. This is stuff we normally don't get to hear, which makes it very interesting ;)

Don't stop posting these reviews, they make a great read!

Here's my review of the first Ferrari in my life, the 2004 Ferrari 575 Maranello. This review may not be as exciting or as long as the others, only because the transaction went through fairly smooth.

Well as you remember, I had bought the Ford GT in January of 2005 and was in pretty good shape with a Ford GT and a 2003 Porsche GT2 in my garage. But then I got the itchies for the Carrera GT and traded the GT2 on it in...... damn, do you believe that I can't remember off hand what month I got the Carrera? I think it was in April or May of 2005. Anyhow, I'm smiling even more than before when I get the Carrera and then I have this brilliant revelation come to me! I don't have a Ferrari!

But there's a big problem, the closest Ferrari dealer is in Columbus, Ohio, Midwestern Auto Group or as their affectionately known, MAG. Dang, that's a really far away to take a car in for an oil change or anything minor that may pop up. I think it's a 120 miles or so and about hour and a half driving time in freeway traffic from me. Wait a minute, isn't that where I bought the Carrera GT at, Columbus, Ohio? Oh yeah, OK, well then it must not be that far to have the pleasure of owning a Ferrari!

So now what do I do? Hmmmm, I've heard Ferraris may be a little temperamental. Do I want to possibly go through the hassle of owning a car and having to figure out how to get it back and forth, back and forth if the car's going to act up on me? Hell yeah..... It's a Ferrari!!

It's time to call the dealer and see what's going on. I give MAG a call and reach a salesman by the name of Mike Finneran. Really nice guy to talk to. I tell Mike I'm interested in a Ferrari F430 preferably cause I don't know anything about Ferraris or the various models and that's the only model I've really heard something about. He could of told me he had a 6 door coupe, 10 speed hatchback that had 10,000 HP, did 350 miles and hour and I probably would have believed him! That's how ignorant I was of my knowledge on Ferraris.

I ask Mike if he possibly has any sitting around? Mike? Mike? I'm not sure but I think I hear the sounds of muffled laughter and a chair being picked up off the floor! As Mike gains his composure, he says no Sir, I don't happen to have any F430s laying around (still that mysterious sound in the backround). He then starts to tell me that the F430s are sold out for at least 2 to 3 years and there are 'millions and millions' of people on a 'waiting list'. What waiting list? I've never seen it in a magazine or advertised anywhere. I could just see it now.... "How would you like a new Ferrari F430? Just fill in this form, send it in to us, and we'll call you in a couple years and let you know how many spots you've climbed up the list and when you'll be able to put your deposit down!" Thanks a lot Mike!

Of course, I let Mike know that I've just purchased a 2005 Ford GT and a new 2004 Carrera GT thinking maybe he'll think I'm not pulling his chain and hopefully move me up to spot 999 instead of 1000! Then Mike tells me he has a 2004 Ferrari Maranello that has 110 miles on it. Number one, it's used isn't it? Number two, it's a 2004 and were in the summer of 2005. Why would I buy a year old car? Number three, I don't even know what the heck a Maranello is. Sounds like a brand of Merlot wine or an Italian Pasta Speciality dish! When asked why such low mileage, he tells me it's the owners DEMO and since they have 15 brands or more of cars, the owner takes one here and takes one there. Ahhhh, now I understand the low mileage!

I don't want no Maranello or whatever it is. I want a Ferrari 'SUPERCAR' What's so hard about understanding that?

Mike calms me down and proceeds to tell me that he has an outrageous Saleen S7 'Supercar' with 500 or so horsepower that might fit my desire. Oh yeah, I've heard of that car. Wasn't it in a movie with..... who was it? Of course, Jim Carey in 'Bruce Almighty'. Hey, didn't he get to play God for a while doing all kinds of unreal stuff including enlarging his girlfriend's breasts and beating up punks all over the place? And he's gets to go cruising around in that rocket ship of a car. OK I tell Mike..... That's for me. How much is the car? HUH? WHAT? Did you just say $450K large ones or so? Jeez..... I just did that on the Carrera GT. Hey Mike...... I'm really not looking to see if I can go into Chapter 11 over here or anything!

As I start to simmer down from hearing that number, my mind swings back to the Ferrari Maranello. After all, it is a FERRARI! OK Mike, give me the details on the car. As Mike begins to explain the car's dynamics to me, he states that the real goal of any True Ferrari owner to be is to have the twelve cylinder Ferrari because that's the true engine of what Ferrari history is made of. OK, I'll buy into that. What else Mike? Well he says, "It has the F1 transmission which is a real pleasure to drive." F1 transmission? Isn't that just a fancy word for an automatic trans? "No says Mike. You have an Auto mode and you have a Manual mode. It's just like they use in Formula One racing. You know, Michael Schumaker, Kimi and Jacques and those other guys." Uh, yeah I say. We'll if it's good enough for whmoever those guys are, who am I to say otherwise!

Mike continues with spiel on how this is a GT Touring car, a real 'gentleman's ride'. It's very comfortable and luxurious inside and the outside is truly a work of art.

OK Mike, you've sold me. How much? Hey, I can live with that. And you'll even give me a slight discount because it's an 04? WOW! When was the last time you ever heard of anyone getting a discount on a brand new Ferrari?

Mike meanwhile sends me pictures of the Maranello parked next to a Bently parked on their dealership ramp. Damn, that IS a really sharp car after all! We work on a deal where I'm putting down some cash and I'm trading in my 2001 BMW Z8. Beautiful and fantastic car the Z8 is but give me a break....... I'm getting a new Ferrari! He checks my credit out and bingo, we set a delivery date and time. Mike says he going to be delivering the Maranello personally with the transport truck driver. Whoa..... how's has that for personal service?

My lucky day comes and I waiting in the drive of the house I purchased next door to me. I kinda had to buy it protect the land running along my main drive (2500 feet long- almost like a drive in a park lined with trees) or else someone could have bought that house and land and started cutting trees down to sell for cash. Other neighbors have done just that. Sick bastards! I love nature and animals. We call it our 'Vacation Villa'. Since I don't fly, we pretend to take vacations there. Real ball of fire, aren't I?

Here comes Mike and the truck and my new Ferrari down the street! Let me tell you, the picture didn't do it justice. It's beautiful! Sleek, small, sexy, fantastic, outrageous and much more all in one! They unload it and Mike goes over the car with me. Then we jump in the car and go down to the main house because Mike says he would like to see the Ford GT and the Carrera GT. (I hope not because he thinks I was bullshitting him!)

I open the garage doors and Mike is ecstatic. Tells me how nice it is to see both those cars next to each other. He then wants to take pictures of my two BMWs outside in my drive. One is a 04 645 convertible and the other is a 04 M3 convertible. Don't know why I buy convertibles, I hardly ever put the top down! He especially likes my license plates: 'DPRIVD' on the 645 and 'DMENTD' on the M3. 'DPRIVD' is a little pompous (don't have it anymore cause of that!) but it was fun for a while. I once had the same spelled plate on a 1991 Mercedes 430(?) and a photographer from the local newspaper came up behind me on the freeway and started laughing his off and took a couple of pictures of the car. Sure enough, a couple days later, it wound up on the front page on the 'local' second section with the headline reading 'WONDER WHAT THOSE NOT DEPRIVED DRIVE?' and the caption "Sometimes DPRIVD is the eyes of the beholder as the owner of this Mercedes demonstrates". Sorry if I ever offended anybody. It was only meant to be a joke son..... just a joke!

Now about driving the car. She wonderful. Easy to start, easy to back up (I can finally see out of this one) and the Daytona leather interior is 'classy as hell' and smells so sweet! I do wish the seating offered a little more leg stretch out room. The other little gripe is the rear view mirror. I can't adjust it up high enough (tilt it back) to please me. The wheels are the two piece ones and as you'll see in the pics are just amazing looking. Reverse gear is obtained by pulling a little lever on the console up and back and then you hear beeps. You have to hold your foot on the brake to start the car, just like the F430. The headlights are excellent offering all kinds of light for you to see. The F1 shifts nice and smooth and I just leave this one in Auto mode and cruise around pretending to be 'James, James Bond'!

One thing I do notice on this and the Lambos is that the tires seem like they're scrubbing or chattering when you back up. I dunno... someone said that's normal. OK, I believe him. Every once in a while, I'll get a little brake squeal now and then, but it's nothing to write home about.

I went down the street one time just to fill the car up with gas one day and bumped into a couple of my friends at the gas station. One of them said to me, "You're unreal! You may have been the only person in the United States to have filled his Ferrari up with his Carhart work jacket on!" What's did he mean by that? Was he calling me a Bum?

Cruising around in her is wonderful. She's quiet, rides nice and smooth and oh my God, does it get the looks..... from everybody. Hey what's going on here? I know it's a Ferrari but from far away, nobody (OK, maybe a few people know) you really can't tell what it is. That's what is so surprising! I'm getting tons of looks and gawkers from far away! Unreal! I can understand when I'm in all the others cause they're 'SUPERCARS' so that makes sense. But the Maranello?

One incident really freaked me out. We went to the local Ice Cream stand and were eating cones at the car. Three young teenage boys were driving out of the stand in a small, older pickup. As they started past, I saw one kid look and then I heard a screech of brakes. What the heck is that all about? They jump out of the car with they're mouths wide open and they're eyes all glassy. "A Ferrari?" Yep I say. "I don't believe it says another" I told them since they were so excited about the car, i would pop the hood open and show them the 12 cylinder.

After 20-30 minutes of talking and my girlfriend laughing her ass off from their amazement, I tell them since they're such extreme motorheads, I'm gonna give them a real experience. I give them my telephone number, ask them to give me a call in a couple of days, and I'm gonna take each one of them for a ride in the Carrera GT! Think they were happy? I got called several times before we could make a day and time. After taking the two of them for rides and having them almost crying with joy, I tell the 3rd kid let's go. He's hesitant. Why? I finally realize after talking to him, he's afraid I'm a suicidal maniac on the road. I tell him, don't worry, I'll go down the street at a certain speed, increase it slowly and if you're OK with that or if it's too fast, just let me know and I'll slow down. We come back, he's smiling and they're all saying I'm their new hero. They even offer to wash my cars for me, anytime, for FREE, just call! Damn did I feel good!! But, I know that if I was a kid sometime ago and someone had done that for me, I guess I would have felt the same way.

Back to the car. It's just amazing how many people smile with approval to the looks of the Maranello. Wherever I park, some even come up and strike up a conversation about her.

The engine sound is unreal. It has this deep and rich sound when you get on it a little. A lot of Ferrari owners like to put Tubi or some type of exhaust on their Ferraris but this particular model to me doesn't make sense to jazz up like a hot rod. It isn't one! It's a GT touring car. It's meant to be classy but sporty looking and fast but not in the category of the Enzo! I love her the way she is. How can you adulterate a lady? You don't! You love her the way she is and take good care of her. And that's exactly what I'm going to do!!

Obviously, after enjoying the pleasure of my first ever Ferrari, I then become a rabid fan of the 'Prancing Horse' and all he or 'she' stands for! I've got t-shirts, windbreakers and all kinds other paraphernalia up the wazoo! I guess know you also know why I had to have a F430 before I had a conniption fit. Don't worry..... I know..... I'm sick. But I'm taking my medicine religiously!!!! Michael

p.s. At the beginning, I stated the following, "This review may not be as exciting or as long as the others..." I guess I don't know the strength of my mind or my ability to :bs:

Well, I am sure nobody could decide not to buy a Maranello after having been close to one or having testdrove it! it's such a good car it aches!

What you did to those boys is pretty impressive! It's not so obvious to give away personal infos and shere your own cars with basically strangers!
Similar stuff happened to me too (in the position of the boys obviously) and it always felt too good to be true! Generous owners are really a gift from the sky ;)

Ford GT... Great!

The GT2 will be an interesting read. I'm sure they don't mind.

And if you don't mind I'd like a hear some about the Z8 too. Such a nice design and car that nobody talks about anymore... I rarely see them in any auto meets.

p.s. Couple things I forgot to mention. First the letter T on the back of the car is off. I was drying the car off one day and a string on the towel snagged the letter and pulled it off. It's stuck on with something like double sided tape. You'd think they would mount it better. Cheap ass car!!
It's like that on a lot of cars. The tape on the CGT might have been poorly placed or dirty, as usually the lettering sticks on quite well.

However, some people don't like any letters on their cars (since it spoils the look of the car for them), and so they use some piano wire or fishing line to remove them (or in some cases, heat up the letters with a hair dryer so that they can be easily pulled off). If this is the case, it's actually a good thing the letters are not screwed on, as it leaves the body perfectly straight once the badges are removed.

You win some, you lose some. Just get a dealer to put it back on or do it yourself, a 2 minute job ;)

Thanks for the review :D No, I turned my in Blue M3 convertible early on its lease and the other M3, a white convertible, it's lease was up or something..... I'm not sure what the case really was on that car. The BMW light gold mist 645 convertible, I traded on the F430 and the Black 645 coupe along with the GT2, were traded on the Carerra GT. Confusing? It is for me too!

BMWs? I absolutely love BMWs. Had a lot of them...... 5 different models in one year all at the same time. I was the first on the list at the Akron, Ohio dealership for the new 06 BMW M5, but had to cancel my spot when I decided to purchase the Ferrari Maranello. I was bummed out and of course so was the dealership cause they had lost my business. Also had the pleasure of owning a 2001 Z8, but traded that on the Maranello. I would be very happy to buy any BMW tomorrow if necessary!

but you are one strange dude!

And you are one banned dude for being a rude jealous little shit. Hi Jabba, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't ban him unless there's something else I don't know about him. He's entitled to his thinking. He may think I'm a little candy ass or sissy for always mentioning my Father but the reality of the situation is Dad busted his ass off making his business super succesful as I said before. I have what I have because of him. It's not because I invented the computer or electricity or the car! I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.... the hospital or birth center at the age of 6 days old when Mom and Dad adopted me.

If I didn't give credit to my Father for making it all happen, then I would be as phony as a $3 bill. And I think most, if not all of you know that by now. Especially after passing the scrutiny of the JW FBI, CIA, Interpol, Scotland Yard and every other agency in the world backround check!

So Jabba, please consider giving that guy another shot. I've had worse things said to me in my life. It looks like you're protecting my feelings (which I certainly appreciate) but at 58, I'm pretty sure I can handle it. Plus I think he was 48 or so himself. Making that kind of remark sounds more pathetic coming out of his mouth than anything I say about my good fortune! Plus, I've always been told that when you ignore an ignorant person, they usually just dry up and blow away!
