No, I turned my in Blue M3 convertible early on its lease and the other M3, a white convertible, it's lease was up or something........

Also had the pleasure of owning a 2001 Z8, but traded that on the Maranello.

What do you normally use as a determinaiton whether you lease or outright purchase a car?

This is a topic that has always fascinated me - what drives people to "rent" vs own various cars etc.

I always thought the norm was "rent/lease" the commuter vcar. buy the keeper - but I have seen and heard many varied answers to the quesiton.

REDBARON, Your reply to me is a perfect example of what I wanted to achieve in my life. People that like me for WHAT I am..... not WHO I am. Believe it or not, it came to me when I went to private school in the early 60s. There was on 13 year old kid there who was a very good athlete and had a good, strong physique. Of course you didn't have to ask him how good he was..... he was always more than willing tell you.... to the point where you just wanted to puke! :puke: He was what I refer to 'as a legend in his own mind'! I told myself, I never want to be like that!

On top of that, coming from a person your age sure makes a 58 year old dude feel like he's on top of the world. :D (I wanted to say young kid who is still wet behind his ears but I didn't want you to take it the wrong way!) In America, we have that saying for someone who is still very young and has a ton of experiences in life to behold! I hope you understand what I mean and take no offense! It's just unbelieveable to have someone so young appreciate you efforts nowadays!

Thank you again for the compliments and I want you to know that I took a ton of pictures of the Ford GT tonight and hopefully I'll be able to assemble the review and put it on JabbasWorld later on tonight. Hi RC45, Just playing with you! Hey, I've always had the same idea on leasing vs buying as you stated. I had always leased all my other previous cars (my leases were always for two years) and even the GT2. But when I bought the Ford GT and then the rest, I felt that I would hold on to them for a least three years or more and they're residual value would stay high. I was hoping they would hold their value more than the 'normal' type car. I'll find out in a couple years whether I made the right decision or not. Michael

If my name was Bill Gates, Ruppert Murdock, Donald Trump or Richard Branson. But my last name doesn't even come close to a match of any of theirs and I don't have the financial where with all that those mega buck guys do. I'm just a small country boy who got lucky!

OK everyone, Here we are. The Rambo, Chuck Norris and possibly the greatest American Supercar of all, the 'Good ole American made, American muscle, the FORD GT. So let's Rock and Roll!

It's January 14, 2005 and I'm on my way home from the office, it's 3 p.m. or so and I'm minding my own business looking forward to a nice dinner. I get home and let the dogs out, come back in and see there's a message or two on the answering machine. Check a couple out and then finally get to this one...... "Hello, my name is Frank (so and so) from Donnel Ford in Boardman, Ohio, and I've been told by someone who knows you that you're into 'exotic cars' and I have something here you might want to look at. It's called a Ford GT. Please give me a call so we can make an appointment because I'd love to show you the car. You can call me at 758-_ _ _ _."

I turn to my girlfriend Euni, of 5 years (now) and say "What the heck is he talking about? I heard about the Ford GT from a dealer friend of mine, an absolutely unreal car from what I've read, and I've also heard that they're sold out from now until the end of the world and there's even a waiting list after that! Why on earth is he calling me? Besides, what's the gag with me liking 'exotic cars'. I got a few BMWs and the Porsche GT2 and a couple of Range Rovers. What's so 'exotic'? Yeah maybe the GT2, but when I hear the word 'exotic', I think Ferrari, Lamborghini, ummmm what else? See, I don't even know what's 'exotic' and heck, I have a hard time even spelling Lamborghini!

OK..... I'll bite!! I tell Euni, let's hurry up and eat and we'll go up to the dealership and check out this Ford GT. We'll just look it over and then go home. Yeah... sure! Somehow I think I've said that before ... a million times! I call this guy Frank and tell him we're coming up to see the car and he tells me he'll be waiting for me. Yeah..... I'll just bet you will! My mind is spinning with an attack plan just in case I like the car and may try to work out a deal, WHAT?..... Wait a minute, how the hell am I going to be able to buy the Ford GT. I just spent $215K on the Porsche GT2! WHAT am I thinking? I gotta see a shrink.... soon!

We get there around six or so and start walking forward to see the GT which is sitting in the middle of their showroom. Frank hasn't found us yet. From a 30 or 40 foot distance, it's an outrageous red, with white stripes at the bottom, sits lower than ants eating crumbs on the ground from a picnic and looks like it could be 'faster than a speeding bullet'..... sorry Superman, but this thing looks even faster than you!

I remember my Dealer friend telling me that the car was going to sell for around $150K or so. Still don't understand why they're calling me though? We walk closer to the car to check out the sticker...... sure enough it reads $155K and change. What's going on here? Wait a minute..... there's some kind of piece of paper or sign taped on the front window. Ahhhh..... NOW I understand why they called me! That little piece of paper on the front windows says 'OUR PRICE $250,000. I turn again to Euni and say wait a minute, I gotta go to the restroom, throw-up and then check my forehead out. I think a-hole or s_ _t head must be embossed on it!! Of course she's laughing her little ass off at me (she loves doing that you know)!

I regain my composure and start talking to Frank who has just come over after he sees me turning around in circles, mumbling! Frank says hi and I say "Frank..... what's all this special pricing about? Are you guys trying to pay the dealership mortgage off with this sale?" Frank says "calm down.... Do you like the car? Good, let's see if we can work out some kind of deal." Frank asks if I want him to start it up and I say OK. He starts the car and revs it up and now I know for sure that I'm screwed!! I say to Euni... "This should be good. They'll probably knock a couple thou off and think they got my ass! Heck, I don't NEED or really WANT it that bad....... the HELL I DON'T!!" I WANT THIS CAR! I can see it now, LeMans, Laguna Seca, Monaco..... maybe the Indy 500. There's no end to what I can do with this 'bolt of lightning'.

So we sit down, start massaging numbers, the General Manager, Donnie comes over (he's been trying to sell me a car for years but their price has never turned me on) , enters the conversation and we finally come up with a number, $216K plus I tell them they have to make the first two payments, and he says he has to get it OKd by the owner (another decent friend of mine). Dave, the owner, OKs the deal and, and.... I've got my first 'exotic supercar'! Damn, I feel good!

The reason I made them make the first two payments was because there was a recall on all of the Ford GTs due to control arm problems. Why? Because as I was told and read about later on, there were hairline cracks appearing in them from being made with a new process called ' injection casting process' or something like that. They then tell me they're not even sure when I'll be able to take possession of the GT but it could be as long as a month or two. Are you kiddin?

So after agreeing on the deal, I get my financing approved in a day or two and they tell me they'll keep me up to date on when the control arm replacements will be shipped. I wait and wait and wait! It's now early March and I'm getting 'ants in my pants' psycho. So I call Donnie and he says he'll check and see what's going on. He calls me a day or two later and says Dave called Ford, supposedly bitched them out saying I bought the GT on January 15th, I'm a very good customer and it's to the point of being ridiculous and they say OK, they'll ship them out immediately, ahead of all others on their schedule! Not too shabby!

The control arms finallt come in on March 16th. They begin work immediately. Meanwhile, I decide to make a trip to the dealership cause I want to see what all this fuss is about. I get there the next day and their mechanic shows me the old and new arms. The old ones are nice but the new ones are a work of art. FORGED! SHINY! BEAUTIFUL! He says he had to take an old one off, put it in the special box and then put the new ones on and repeat the process all around the car. They have to pack up all the old ones and send them back to Ford! Donnie and Dave tell me that the whole exchange is costing Ford around $8000 per car! Ouch! Later on, I read or hear that the actual figure is near $15,000 or so!

It's Thursday, March 17th, 2005, St. Patrick's Day. Too bad the car's not Electric Green! Eunice drops me off at the dealership and I'm about to come home in my new FORD GT. Donnie and the mechanic show me the ins and outs of the car and I start her up and almost have an orgasm! As I begin pulling out of the dealership, there's a couple dozen or so employees and spectators waving and smiling to me! Whoa Daddy! I cruise home and park her in the garage and just look and look. It's mine..... all mine!

A couple days later, I get a call from Frank and he asks me if everything is OK with the GT? He then tells me, he, his wife and his kids want to thank me for buying the Ford GT. He's very happy now and has enough money to buy school clothes for all his 5 or 7 kids. I thank him for his concern and say I'm glad to have supported his family in school this year. Later on that month after talking to Donnie and Dave (who is one of my new drinking partners at the local restaurant where we all go to) explain to me that they gave Frank a commission of $30K! They say that they were not going to take advantage of the sale but were going to offer a fantastic commission to the seller of the car. Jeez... that really makes me feel good! Yeah right!

I suppose you would like to hear a little about the mechanics of the car now, Huh? All right, here we go.

Your at the car and open the door and..... wow.... that door really opens wide. Wonder why? I start to get in and whack! Now I know why the door opens so wide. There's this thing attached to the door and it's part of it. It hangs over the door edge about a foot or so. Crazy, but wild design. I sneak into the driver's seat finally and freak out over the interior and all the neat looking toggle switches and retro gauges and seats with holes the size of nickles in them. It's really comfortable and everything is within easy reach. The radio is decent, a McIntosh, but the buttons are small, confusing and tricky to change bands and modes. I check to see how to set the clock and can't find it. I look in the manual, find out how, set the time and everything is OK...... except it defaults to the radio station preset every time you restart the car. I have only had the clock on one or two other times since. It ain't worth the hassle. Bad design!

There's no storage space in the interior. No glovebox, no console, no anything! Whatever you want to carry in the car will have to sit on the floor between your legs. Oh yeah, no drink or coffee cup holders either. You better have a lot of close friends who are willing to sit next to you to hold your coffee or you're SOL! No ashtray..... GOOD! No change tray..... BAD! No Cruise Control....... hey, how come none of my supercars have that? Maybe their theory is that your not supposed to be cruising around but instead should be going through the gears taking full advantage of the cars capabilities instead of driving them around like Grandma used to!

Taking the car for a drive goes as follows: Get in without tearing your head off (it really isn't that bad.... it just sounds good saying that), put the key in the ignition, push in the clutch, turn the key to start.... hey, I can't turn the key to start..... oh yeah, you don't turn the key to start! You push this little red button on the dash that says 'start'..... I knew that! The car starts with ease and seems to say, "I'm ready, willing and able..... let's go get em kid!" I put her in reverse, in reverse, in reverse..... reverse is a little tricky here. You kinda have to smack the stick a little to convince it to go left and into 'R'. You start backing up and you have no idea what the hell is behind you! I go to get back out of the car to see if there is anything behind me and smack.... yep,you got it, I nailed the door overhang with my head! This is for real! Getting out is really the hairiest part of ingress and egress. You have to put your right arm on the windshield pillar and push up slowly and backward to avoid the overhang. After 3 conks on the head, (Euni had 4 or 5), I learned real fast! But this is what makes this and the other cars I own so nice. They're different is so many ways from 'normal' cars, that you feel special just to be able to manage the special tricks of driving them.

Well, were going down my drive which is about 2500 ft. long and I can keep her in 1st gear and not even hit 1000 rpm or so. In the Carrera GT, I have to shift to 2nd and she's still doing better than 2000 rpm. On the road now and she feels great. This car has the long legs of a 8' basketball player. It just cruises along so mellow that it's unreal. Push down on the throttle anywhere, in almost any gear and pow, bang, boom, she rockets off into the sunset. The torque on this machine is like that of a bulldozer because of it's supercharger. I probably could pull out some old stumps from my fields if necessary!

There's lots of people out there with some sore necks from jerking them all over the place looking at the GT. Boy does she draw attention and comments. What the heck is it? Waddya mean it's a Ford? You trying to be funny boy? No honestly... Ford made this car! After I finally convince them and walk away in one piece, they're still looking with amazement. I get her out on 680, our local freeway, and give her some gas to let her stretch out. It's 3 to 4 miles before the next exit and I'll bet I could keep it in 4th gear doing 70 or so. The power of this car is unreal. You punch the throttle and you feel like you can reel in any car on the road like a 8" fish on shark tested line.

Filling her up with gas is fairly easy although you have to use your key to unlock one of the side latches to pop the cap. The latch on the other side pops open the trunk hatch lid. Oh, there's a little space there but not too much. The engine latch is above the driver's head near the rear window. What's funny is, today when I went to take the pictures of her, I forgot where the latch was. Had to look for 3-5 minutes to find it. The clam shell engine cover is huge but super impressive. I won't have to tell you about the engine cause the pictures will do that for me. Plus, I'm not totally sure what everything is back there anyway. There's space age stuff all over. Almost looks like a mini space shuttle!

What's really wild is when you look over your shoulder while driving and see this huge (well it looks like that when you in the driver's seat) supercharger with it's belts and pulleys just spinning wildly behind you! If she ever blows, you can kiss your ass goodbye! And there's that sound! Pure American Muscle Car kinda sound. Just like in the 'good ole days'. You know, 427 Corvettes, 454 Chevelles, 426 Hemis, 455 4-4-2s, 428 Ford Mustangs and GTO Judges all making ground pounding horsepower and earthquake torque! This is just like all of those and more. Trust me.... I had three of the five I mentioned. I was lucky as heck to live in the era of the 'true American Muscle Cars'. It's something I will never forget.

I just happened to cruise down a 4 lane highway last summer in the Ford GT when we had a annaul National Hot Rod Show and Meet. It was lined with people for a mile or so. As I went down the road, there were thumbs up everywhere and tons of people taking pictures just like if the President of the United States was visiting our town!

I bring her back home and slip her into the garage while remembering that door that seems to swing open 50 feet or so. I get out making sure not to wind up needing stitches in my head and close the door. I step back and gaze at her with complete amazement. She's beautiful, awesome, unreal, ground shaking and boy does she sit low. Wait a minute..... isn't this almost the same car, the Ford GT, (albiet a slight variation of the original car the GT40) who 's historic 1-2-3 sweep at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and its consecutive wins over the next three years beating the hell out of Ferrari? That's right, she is! And they say American ingenuity is dead. Are they kidding me! U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A.

p.s. Please check out the one pic looking out the rear window from inside and you'll get an idea of what the driver is really able to see. Hardly anything! I told you I can't see squat!!

p.s.s. I've included pics of the Ford GT in front of my house. I can't prove it's my house cause I can't find the owner's manual or the keys. I hope Jabba and TT will believe me or I guess my ass will be banned! I hope I find the keys and manual soon so I can prove I own a house and don't live out of one of my cars. Heh.... heh..... heh.....

thanks again Micahel; i read your review on the way to the Office of Comerce here in Michigan; and it was shorter then the trip there (not me driving) so it definately wasn't too long by my skewed view :lol:

when you saw your GT being worked on; were there some interesting blocks it was set up on? :wink: i could've sworn the replacement parts were Billit, just like the pre-prod mules were... and yes, they were quite expensive per/gt built... im guessing they also put the speedi sleve on at the same time, to prevent oil leaks.

I will always be hugely impressed with the GT... and by the sound of it, you still are too... interesting comparison of gear ratios to the CGTerminator... still, there are an extra 1600 or so RPM to play with in that beast.

Yep TT, that's me. Kinda wish I looked a little thinner but at my age it's a bitch. Also had some minor medical problems where I have to take 'catabolic steroids' to stop some of the pain and I've been told they make you gain some wait.

I'm hoping to do the reviews of the Z8, M5 and GT2 in a couple days or two. It's really been fun and some responses sure make me feel great and know that is was well worth the time and effort.

Michael, What can i saw, Great collection Most of which i would own myself. I hate doing this but REALLY reccomend you go check out the new Z06. Had the chance tonight to chat up someone who owned one and i was very impressed. The owner has quite a few exotics and told me the Z06 is just astonishing. Have another friend out in Cali who might be getting one through a contact at Dealer price however he is no longer sure. If he backs out of the deal and your interested i could maybe help ya out with a contact because Chevy seems to have learnt "the game" with the new Z06 if you get my drift :)

Anyhow one question i really have is Why the CGT? Of all your cars it is my least favorite.....I find it really grossly priced for what it offers but i see them being sold fast. Saw one too and im a tiny guy at 5"8 120 pounds and thought it would be small in there for me and a passenger.

Oh and as for the next daily driver you should reallllly look into the new Supercharged range rovers. I absolutely LOVE them and they ride great i hear. Dont bother with the Cayenne turbo, its cool, its fast but i wouldnt its too much money and frankly i find my father's touareg way better looking. If you do love the cayenne and have that "oh no not again" feeling. there is the new Cayenne turbo S model out. This is not to be confused with the cayenne S (V8) its a uprated version of the Cayenne turbo with 521 HP :)

:lol: Absolutely no offense taken but I think somehow, somewhere you've misunderstood me. I DON'T buy cars at random...... I spend a lot of time on the internet researching a car that I might have an interest in. I obviously won't buy a car if some people tell me they've had problems with certain mechanical areas of a car or if the manufacturer doesn't stand behind their product.

Sure someone might tell me about a new car they've seen or heard about, but that doesn't mean I run right out and buy it. I only have so much financial capabiliity or I would have never got gotten rid of the Porsche GT2 and maybe some of the others. I wish I could buy an ENZO, but sorry to disappoint you, it would be necessary for me to sell at least three or four of the cars I have to buy one. They're selling for about 1.2 to 1.3 mil. That's heavy duty money! To me, even an Enzo wouldn't be worth giving up 3 or 4 of my others to have it. Plus, I only have garage space now for the cars I have. I really don't think you would want me to keep some new ones outside would you?

I'm interested in and love ALL my cars equally..... I say I don't have a favorite because it's true. Everytime I get in a car, that's the car I love for the day and I'm totally into that car and the thrill it gives me.

I'm sorry that you got the feeling I don't care about my cars. That's the farthest thing from the truth!! All you would have to do is be around me when talking to people and answering questions about a car and you would truly see my love for each and every car I own.

I have a little story that I thought you all would get a kick out of.

:mrgreen: I was in my Pearl Green 06 Murcielago yesterday because it was finally beautiful outside for once here in northeastern Ohio. I had to go to our local post office yesterday to pick up my McLaren F1...... unfortunately it was a Maistro 1:18 scale die cast that I bought off eBay!

As I was coming out of the building and heading for my car, I hear "Hey Sir.... Hey Sir!" I turn around and it's this older man walking briskly towards me. As he approached, he was saying to me, "I saw your car and I wanted to come over and get a better look." He then asks me if I mind some questions and I say absolutely not. We started talking about the car and he says he is a car lover too and shows me his windbreaker with a 'Corvair' patch on the chest and says he belongs to the 'Corvair Club of America.'

He's freaking out over the car and asking me all kinds of questions. He says, "How much does it cost... $175.000?" No I told him, a little bit more to which his eyebrows raise. He drops that subject of price for a while and asks me about the engine, how many cylinders and what's the horsepower?

He then starts on the paint and says how much he really loves the color and how he bets I can be seen for miles away. I laugh at all the excitement the Lambo is giving him.

We then begin talking about Corvairs and I mention to him my parents had a 1964 Corvair station wagon that we all really liked but I ran it into a bridge one snowy day (slow speed - 15-20 mph cause of heavy snow) on my way home from some girls house after making out with her for an hour or so. I guess she really got me excited..... gimme a break......I was only 16 you know!

He was really great to talk to and very appreciative of my spending some time with him. He told me so.... several times! We must have talked for at least 20-30 minutes. A few other people came over too while we were talking.

Well, finally it seemed like he was ready to go but not without a few more questions and some pictures from every angle with his instamatic camera. He must have taken 8 - 10. I asked him if he wanted to sit inside the car but he declined because IMO, I think he was afraid he couldn't get back out! I offered to help him get inside but he declined again. Although he did bend over and look all around the interior and out the back window to which he said "you got to be kidding!"

He got back on the price of the car.... "$225K.. no?.. how about 275K?... no?....How about $300K?" I told him almost but the actual sticker was $308K. Phew! he said and then asked whether I owned any others and I told him what I had. He then pulled out a pen and a little scrap of paper and starting asking me to repeat all the specs, $308K, E-gear 6 speed, 580 HP, the name of the company and the name of the model of the car, etc. He's writing this down with the enthusiasm of a guy writing down the number of a beautiful blonde giving him her telephone number.

When he finished his questions, I had one for him. I figured him to be around 70. I asked..."I hope you don't mind but could you tell me how old you are?" "Sure he said, I'm 80!" He's 80 years old and is as excited about the car as I am! Unbelieveable!

He finally thanked me for the last time and went on his way but not without asking me if I could do him one more favor..... come down the street in front of him getting on the gas a little bit! How could I refuse this wonderful 'old man'.... could you? He didn't know it, but he had just made my day as much as I apparently made his. Thank you Ferruccio Lamborghini!! Michael :lol:

I don't think it was my 575 you saw because I hardly ever get over to Liberty township. I do travel 442 in Girard though going back and forth to work. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't my Murcie either because I just got it February 9th and haven't had it out that much.

I tried buying the CGT that Fred Baker had (in fact that is where I got my first look of the car) but they couldn't meet the price Byers Auto in Columbus, Ohio gave me. Michael :|

Thanks TaZ, If you read this thread from the first post of mine, you'll just see how lucky I am and how I have acknowledged the person responsible for my good fortune. My Father!!

TT said I could post some pictures of Eunice, my girlfriend, and and I will, but if he and Jabba don't mind, I would also like you all to get a glimpse of my Father. I have pictures of he and Eunice and he and I before he went to Texas in August of 2003. He had to go there because he was dignosed with lung and brain cancer in July of 2003 and went through 4 weeks of radiation on his head to try and help. At the end of August, he was going down to Texas to a special Cancer Clinic to receive his chemotherapy to finish his treatment. This hurts..... I couldn't go with him cause I am afraid to fly! He knew and understood and wasn't worried cause his female companion of years went with him. He only had two treatments, had a heart attack and then went into a coma only 4 or 5 days after being there. But... we did fly him home in a private jet to Youngstown, Ohio and I got to see and be with him before he passed away that night. That was one of the saddest days of my life!

On a lighter note, you'll see he had a full head of hair at his age even at the age 84 before he passed away. I, on the other hand, have wavy hair..... it's waving good-bye! The pic of Eunice and he at his condo was in September of 03 just before he started his radiation therapy. I asked Pop to let me take a pic of him with his bad habits, cigarettes and a glass of Scotch and as you can see, he gladly accepted and even smiled! He was an absolutely unbelieveable man and even a more fantastic Father.

When you say I'm lucky, you're right ..... You just really don't know how lucky I really was to have him as my Father!!

p.s. TT also said I could include pics of my crib but I think Mom and Dad sold that before I was one year old! :lol: :lol: :lol:

If you want though, I can include pics of my house, our property, my dogs, and the deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, ground hogs and ducks that visit us every day! Thanks for enjoying some of my life stories, Michael :D

Sad story about your dad.. had a similar situation with grandpa myself last year and like you I was lucky enough to be there right at the end :| it's sad but much better than beeing far away...

One of the worst and unfortunetly unavoidable moments of our lives is when we lose our loved ones. I'm sorry for your loss. But be sure that he lives even closer to you now than he used to when he was alive - he's in your heart and he's in your thoughts, he lives through your appreciation of him and he lives through your kindness.

One of my very close friend's father passed away a week ago and he was in his mid 50s. My friend's mother had passed away about 3 years ago. So now he has no parents at the age of 24. I can't even imagine the pain and sorrow he's going through right now.

Sorry for the sad post... just vey emotional times for me too.

I can't exactly remember when I went into heat for a Porsche GT2. I was driving a 2001 BMW M5 that I was really enjoying. The BMW dealer in Akron, Ohio had taken care of me for over 18 years and I had taken care of him by buying (or should I say leasing) most of my BMWs for 2 years and then getting a new one. I once asked the General Manager if I was one of their better customers to which he laughed and said "You are our BEST customer!"

I just can't think of the reason why I wanted to see a GT2 but anyhow Eunice (my girlfriend) and I wound up going to the Porsche dealer in Sewickley, Pennsylvania about 50 or so miles away from us. They had two GT2s there. A used 2003 with around 1500 miles or less on the speedo. It was lowered, custom aftermarket exhaust, some interior work, wheels that were outlined in yellow and some other stuff that I'm probably forgetting. But, knowing that it had miles on it, wasn't a 'virgin' and had been 'hopped up', kinda turned me off for sure on this yellow one.

The red one was absolutely beautiful! Shined like an 'Army drill sergeants boots'! It had red gauges, red seat cover backs and all kinds of other stock stuff. But it didn't have some things I wanted, like carbon fiber dash and most of all, red seat belts. You put those red colored seat belts on and you feel like your in a fighter jet cockpit!

But the main reason I was hung up on my decision about buying the red one was the color. I had this hankering for a yellow GT2 after I saw the used yellow one in person. The color just screamed attention! So thus began my search for a yellow GT2.

I contacted my local Porsche dealer, Armando's Porsche in Boardman, Ohio and I sat down with the general manager one day shortly after my Sewickley visit, to do a search of what was available in GT2s across America. He found several but none that were totally decked out with all the options I wanted. He then searched some more and found a 2003 Yellow GT2 down in West Palm Beach, Florida at a Porsche dealer there and it only had 4 miles on her.

The car was absolutely loaded! It had carbon interior package, leather console and roof liner, carbon steering wheel, painted sport seats, chrome aluminum wheels and.... and..... my yellow seat belts! Yeeee haaaa!

Well, needless to say, my juices were flowing big time! I tell him to see what he can do to acquire this car and, believe it or not, he's trying to talk me out of it. He's saying I should get one up North! "What's the matter with a Southern car, I ask him?" What the heck..... I thought the Civil War was over! Besides, every one 'up North' had a sticker of around $189-193K. The one in Florida has a sticker of $205K..... meaning it had a lot more options..... including my Yellow (fighter jet) seat belts!

I told him, "Look, that's the one I want. If you don't want to get it for me, I'll go to Sewickley and I'll bet they won't have any trouble getting it for me.... real fast!" So he decides to make the call and said he'll call me after he talks to them. A couple hours later, he calls me at home and tells me to come on over. I get there and we start talking. He can get the car but that dealership won't do a dealer trade. So what... that's not my problem! Next he says they told him they have put a 'special wax' on the car because of the Florida atmosphere of salty air (if anything, it would probably be for keeping all the bulls _ _ t off the car) and they want $700 for the wax job. Yeah, right! Who getting the wax job.... me or the car? Then he tells me the battery is dead and they want the cost of replacing the battery. What happened to the new car warranty? I can see I've got two really honest dealers here!

I say, "Dave, tell them to stick the wax job and new battery charge where the sun don't shine or the deal is off! Can't remember if they gave me both or not. We finally manage to strike a deal. I'm trading in my leased BMW M5 and I decide to lease the GT2 as well. I want a 3 year lease. After checking with Porsche Credit, he tells me they'll only give me a 4 or 5 year lease. What is going on here? I ask him why and he can't explain. Great!

Anyway, Einstein orders the GT2 and several days later I get a call that she's here. I fly up to the dealership and there she is, in all her glory and that Yellow is so bright I almost need my sunglasses! We start her up and "Katie bar the door', I've got myself a cruise missile under my ass! After Mr. Personality (you'll see why I call him this later) shows me some little things about the car, I gently roll her to the exit of the dealership. I'm a little bit nervous knowing that I have 456hp in my hands but once I get on the 4 lane highway going home, all my fears melt away and I'm smiling so hard from pleasure, my face hurts!

I get her home, park her outside in the drive, get out and like the rest of my cars, I just keep walking around and around, looking every square inch of her over and over. I touch the outside of her and I think how she'll be able to slip through the air and that tail looks just like a shark's fin signaling that this 'little GT2' is ready to attack anything on the road. I get back inside checking out all the leather and take in deep breathes of the fine craftsmanship. Yellow stitching everywhere! Carbon fiber everywhere; the dash, steering wheel, door panels, console and even the gearshift knob! And the smell of pure speed is also everywhere to be had!

The next day, after all the initial excitement has gone down slightly, I take her out for our first casual drive around town. Leaving my drive and going down the street, the GT2 feel fantastic. Solid but very quick handling. I goose the throttle a little and she accelerates easily with the knowledge that there's plenty of throttle and speed left in her! She rides a little firm but not as firm as my present Carrera GT does. The shifts are positive and the clutch, unlike the CGT, is easy to let out in first gear with no fear of stalling the car.

By the way, did I tell you this car is fast? Oh yeah?..... you don't know how fast this car is! I've even seen reports that some journalists feel it's just as fast or almost as fast as the Carrera GT. This little GT2 is stupid fast. And if you're an idiot, you'll be in trouble so quick, nothing in this world will save you!! The brakes are super and if you hit them in a panic stop, your facial image will be part of the windshield if you don't have your seat belt on..... but again, if your a jerk, even these fantastic brakes won't save your derrière (French for butt)!

You have to forgive me for comparing the GT2 against the CGT, but I don't want to slam any of the other cars thus I feel it's OK to compare different models from the same company and avoid comparing Manufacturers.

My ONLY gripe about the car that I can remember is the feeling going around curves on roads or highways at speeds above, say 60 or 70 and more. When going through a curve, the car seems to like 'float' which to me feels like going up on an elevator at the start or if you can remember, going up and down a small, quick hill on the road pretty fast and your stomach goes up and down too. ALL my previous 911s gave me the same feeling but not a fast as this GT2 did.

I'm almost embarrassed to tell you this, but I never took any interior pictures of my GT2. I guess I was enjoying her so much, I never thought of it. Anyhow, the two pictures of the interior are from the used 2003 GT2 that was in Sewickley, Pa. It's the same interior as mine with all the carbon fiber treatments. The only difference I can see is, I didn't have the yellow console and I had stock GT2 floor mats. My apology for missing these pics. BTW..... make sure you check out the Yellow seat belts!

The interior controls are very good. The large Yellow (oh yeah!) tach is right in the middle of the gauge console so you can't miss it! The seats are very comfortable, a lot more so than the CGTs are. The radio is great, but like the CGTs, the damn station ID numbers, station buttons and mode selection buttons are too small for someone that doesn't have x-ray vision like Superman! There's plenty of volume for hard rockers and the sound coming from the speakers is very good. And if I remember correctly, the GT2 had cruise control unlike ALL the cars I have now. I really miss cruise control for all long my 5-10 mile trips (meaning I hardly ever go anywhere!) Seriously, it does come in handy when you want to maintain a certain speed in well known speed zone areas and for coming home at night after a couple drinks. I think most of you know that feeling after a couple drinks.... sometimes your dang foot gets a little heavy and can get you in trouble real quick!

The GT2 got a lot of looks and comments but surprisingly, and I hate to say this, not as many as the Ferrari Maranello I now have. Everybody knows the 911 Porsche profile so well that it's readily accepted by the general public even though most people don't realize that a GT2 is few and far between. But for car nuts like you and me, we know what it is and freak out because they're not an everyday sight. On the other hand, the Maranello's profile seems to be more unknown and apparently very well received by people of all ages even from a distance even before they actually realize it's a Ferrari. This is not a knock on the GT2, it's a magnificent car! The 911 is beautiful in it's own right and a very well selling design or else it wouldn't still be here after, what is it by now, a thousand years or so.

Now back to the reason I called the GM, Mr. Personality. After a week or two, I started thinking why would I be approved for a 4 or 5 year lease and not a 3 year lease. So, out of curiosity, I place a call to Porsche Credit, and finally reach a gentleman who answers the phone. I say hi, tell him my name, tell him I just bought a new GT2 and ask why did I got refused a 3 year lease but a 4 or 5 year lease was alright. He says to me, "Michael, you aren't going to believe this, but I'm the one who actually approved your lease. I told the GM at Armandos that he could lease you the car for any amount of time you wanted!!" "What...." I scream! "Then why the hell did the GM say that you only OKd the 4 or 5 one?" He says, "Michael, I'm sorry. They're a smaller Porsche dealer and it's harder for us to control every little thing they do." I ask him if the reason is because the dealership and the GM will make more money from a longer lease and he hesitantly agrees with me. I ask if there's anything I can do to remedy this and he suggests talking to the owner who I know very well but was out of the country when I bought the car. OK..... I thank him very much for his time and now I'm POd at the GM! Now for the real kicker here...... the GM has been a decent friend of mine for years. I knew him from being at several car dealerships in various positions. I now understand why he didn't last too long in one place. As a side note...... I heard last week he just got fired a week or so ago from his last job of being a GM at a Toyota dealership about 15 miles from me. I guess his salary of approximately $150,000 wasn't enough to keep him from continuing his unscrupulous ways!

I'm sorry if I left anything out of my review of the GT2 but you must realize it's been almost a year since she was in my hands....... and believe me, I honestly miss the hell out of her. p.s. Just to show you how nice a person I really am (just in case there were any doubters), the Columbus, Ohio dealer who I traded the GT2 for the CGT, sold the GT2 to a Porsche dealer in Illinois. I got a call from Farris, a salesman at that dealership, who told me he sold the car to a man in California and the buyer asked him if I still had the original window sticker. I told Farris that indeed, I still had the original sticker, but I was not going to part with it. But what I would do is go to KInkos and have them do a color copy of the window sticker and build sheet and send them to him so he could forward them to the buyer. Farris thanked me and said the buyer would really appreciate it. Got the copies made, sent them out , and a week or so later, I get a little package from that Porsche dealership. Inside was a thank you note and a little gift of a Porsche wheel-tire-disc brake key chain! I was certainly surprised. I guess I made a couple of new friends....... just like I hopefully have with all you guys (and girls)!

One little final note..... "Thank you my little Yellow Porsche GT2 with your Yellow seat belts. You gave me 2 and 1/2 years of sheer excitement and pleasure. I'll really miss you! I hope your new owner loves you as much as I did. Take care little buddy and many years of happy motoring to you!

"our best costomer" i can imagine them marking the callendar for when your next trade in was due :lol:

the dealer experience on your side is something else entirely compared to what most of us live; so its quite interesting to hear these experiences.... yet at the same time, so much still holds true no matter what car you are shopping for.

about the 'floating feeling' do you mean a similar feeling as when you are cresting a hill, and you dont have as much control... like the steering goes light?

The custom plates in Ohio use to cost, I think, $55 or $60 bucks at the most (which is $20 more than the state standard issue plate.) Then they raised Personalized Plates $20 last year so now they're $75 or $80. I've changes plates on a couple cars 2 or 3 times a year when I didn't like the plate (if it wasn't funny enough or if I thought it was maybe bragging in some way.) The F430 first had SURF CTY on it, then I changed it to HT 2MOLI and now it has X HIPPIE, all since last July. I really like X HIPPIE because I was kinda one back in the 60s and early 70s. Not full blown, just a little enough to fit in with most of the crowd!

My Ford F150 has GUNSMOK and my Range Rover has DRAGNET, all as a tribute to those old time radio & TV shows. Thanks for asking. Michael

Thanks for the writeup on the 996 GT2 - one of my favourite Porsches!!

I know the feeling of its brutal acceleration, and even above 200 (kmh) it just doesn't stop. :shock: Its still the most brutal acceleration I have felt in my life!

The sound is a letdown on this car IMO, really nothing special - compared to say a CS or Gallardo it was just boring to be honest.

Nowwww we can an talk Turkey! I bought the Ford GT, January of 2005 but couldn't pick it up until March 17th because of the control arm recall. Next I got the Carrera GT in April of 2005. I received the Maranello at the end of June 2005 and I bought the F430 in July of 2005. Then I went bonkers for Lambos and got the Gallardo in I believe October of 2005. I then took a break but was foaming at the mouth for the Murcielago and made myself a promise that I would try and get it for my 58th birthday in February of this year. I was able to work out my financial situation and bought the Murcielago February 9th of this year.

I traded the GT2 and my 645 BMW coupe on the Carrera GT. I then dealt a trade of my 645 Convertible that I bought for Euni on the Ferrari F430. It was one year old and only had around 1200 (give or take a couple hundred miles) on it. I'd used to get mad at her because she hardly ever drove it.

When I went looking for the Gallardo, I got lucky and found the Lambo dealer in Columbus also sold Dodges across the street from the Lamborghini dealership. I was able to trade my 2005 Dodge Ram SRT 10 pickup truck (Viper engine 500HP-6 speed) on the Gallardo.

When I bought the Murcielago, I didn't have any more cars to trade so I had to buy it naked, with no trade!

Lemme see...... if I had really 'stupid kind of money', (meaning just tons and tons of it) like Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch, Donald Trump or Richard Branson, I would get a.... yes...... Zonda F, a F40, an Enzo, a Bugatti Veyron, a McLaren F1 and a MC12 but not in any particular order. Have you ever heard of any of these guys driving around in any kind of special car or do they just get their asses chauffeured around all day long? That would drive me out of my mind! Could you imagine not having you hands on a sports car of any kind. Just sitting there like King Midas and counting you money but not enjoying life. Al least Branson is a little wacko and does some crazy things!

There's no way our business can tank because my Father made it virtually 'bullet proof' and my oldest son has taken after 'Dad' and is running it most of the time for me. I go in 3 or 4 days a week and make sure they didn't empty out my office and move him in! Seriously, Dad's business is super and we have beaucoup excellent people helping me to run it. But my oldest son is really putting in some very hard work and time. He has a great work ethic like Dad did. I'm hoping never to retire just like Dad, but just to fade away in the sunset someday and move on to my second time around up above..... I hope! :)

zonda f - great choice! supposedly the most user friendly supercar! unlike any other car! resale is only question mark? havent been around long and not building u.s. legal cars yet.
f40 - a legendary vehicle, great resale! none to comfy though!
enzo - great car! but you already have a cgt that can meet it's performance at less than half the price. does have the front lift system built in and is more comfy than the cgt. a friend of mine that has both says the only thing the enzo has over the cgt is paddle shifters, the front end lift system, and more comfortable seats. unless it's raining he takes the cgt although he is still having a bit of a problem with the clutch when parking on hills and getting the car to his garage because of the low foward front apron. he has to back it down his driveway at an angle.
btw! after may, ruf will be able to add a ohlins front end lift system to your cgt that would be adjustable up to a couple inches!
mc12 - just a maserati enzo without the resale!
veyron - a big fat pig! :shock: weighs over 4000 pounds! sports cars don't weigh over 4000 pounds! :)
mclaren f1 - :lol: :shock: :P :twisted: :!: :D THE LEGEND! would be my next move!

About 3 years ago I wanted to insure a car in NYC (which has the highest rates nationwide). I was quoted 6K for 6 months for liability (for those who don't know, it just covers one way). I never had any tickets.. no accidents... It was just because of my age, the period I had my license and the city I live in.

If he would have survived his cancer treatments, we were going to go to Akron, Ohio, to get him more than likely, a nice BMW 5 series. Unfortunately, we missed that trip together but he's always with me in all my cars because as you know, it's because of him I have them!

It really is great to have a son making it easy on me by showing extreme interest in the family business. He and Dad always teased me about my lack of hard work understanding. They always said they felt I thought that "Manual Labor was the President of Puerto Rico"!

Dad once took my BMW 850 for a few years and then my 740 IL and he had a BMW 3 series convertible. If he would have survived his cancer treatments, we were going to go to Akron, Ohio, to get him more than likely, a nice BMW 5 series. Unfortunately, we missed that trip together but he's always with me in all my cars because as you know, it's because of him I have them!

It's kinda funny about my oldest son, Jeff. For his 16th birthday, I bought him a Datsun (back then-19 years ago) 300ZX with a 5-speed. He was pretty coordinated so I figured he be able to drive stick. He did but one day at a friends house, backing out of his driveway, backed over a rock and tore up the suspension to the tune of $1500-2000. I wasn't too happy and he was all bummed out.

Since then, he has had mostly SUVs. Figured he be hard pressed to hurt those. He just bought himself and his family a new 2006 Mustang GT Convertible. He says he wants to try it out against the Ford GT! What's really unbelieveable about Jeff is that he's a tight wad. He throws quarters around like manhole covers. Smart as hell but every once in a while, he'll piss me off and I have to give him the evil eye just like I do to the others and then they know their up s_ _t creek without a paddle! Unlike today, I didn't spare the hand on the butt if they got out of line. You can't do that now a days or you might get in legal trouble.

Now my other two sons are a different story. Their tooling around in Mercedes G Wagons (SUV). My youngest son lives in Utah. My middle son is wacked out on cars just like me. He just picked up a 06 BMW M5 F1 4 door Sedan (550 HP). He rides Harleys just like I USED to and was a motocross racer for several years. Did pretty decent too. :)

Thanks, but you gotta know I was in the same place as you once. Driving Mom and Dad's car and then I got my first car, a 1956 2 door Chevy with a 265c.i. and a 4 speed on the floor with a Hurst shifter! I thought I had gone to heaven. I feel exactly the same way abou the Detroit Tigers :oops: im too young to personally recolect the glory days of the 84 Tigers... so i remember the glory days of the 91-93 Tigers... good enough to win, but always let us down late in the playoffs... and pre-steroids 51 home runs... just an amazing team at that time... i can still name about 80% of the starting line-up :lol:

Hi Everybody, Well it was a beautiful day here in Poland, Ohio yesterday, so I decided to do what a whole lot of you have asked for..... a group picture of all my cars or as I humorously refer to it.... 'Murderer's Row'! Again, I have nicknamed the pics 'Murderer's Row' honoring the memory of the 1927 New York Yankees baseball team and its unbelieveable batting line-up and reputation. It just sounded so appropriate because all of the cars potential and respectability and how they looked in their 'Line-Up'!.

I wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish this task. I tried to line them up close together but my drive is so narrow (only 9-10 feet - love it that way), some of the cars overhung onto the grass. But, they came out pretty good if I must say so myself.

It was kinda wierd taking the pics because the cars seemed so small in the viewfinder trying to get them all in the same frame. I took several different angles and even climbed atop an 10 foot step ladder to get some overhead shots of the fronts and backs and to give you a different perspective of the cars. I also thought it was best to spread the colors out instead of having the two Reds and two Silvers together. Boy, my 'ole' Porsche GT2 in Yellow sure would have added the final 'missing' color in this line-up but unfortunately she's in California with a new owner. :(

I wanted the initial post of these pictures to be here on JabbasWorld because all of you were the first to embrace me so kindly as a member and friend (of course, only after I gave you a blood sample, a DNA test, a urine sample, a Polygraph test and wriiten testaments from all my kin - hmmm... some of which declined knowing me)!

The fact that I've gotten tons of hits and huge amounts of replies and compliments from all of you, has really inspired me to do more and more and the best possible job I could do within my photographic capabilities.

Thank you all for becoming my friend wherever you live in this very small world and sharing 'YOUR' time with me too!! Your friend, Michael :D :D

Not exactly sure how long it did take. Time goes fast when you're having fun... which I did! Yeah, I climbed atop a 10 foot step ladder and took a shot of the rear end of the cars and then a shot over the front end of the cars from both ends of the car line. Good thing I'm not a 'klutz' or you would be seeing a pic of me in a leg cast! Thanks, Michael :)

each shot is saved, and in 'loop' right now :lol: i love how the lambos' are the only two with 'extreme' and really exotic colors... and seeing a picture with the Gallardo, and the Murcielago next to each other... now i we can finally judge how small the Gallardo really is :lol: (well, smaller anyway)

it looks like the Ford is even lower (total height) then the CGT :shock: i guess i never read the stats; and definately never saw a picture of the two next to each other like that before :)

I had a visit today from Alex and Rob who asked if they could come on over and see my cars. How could I refuse? Alex came from Parma, Ohio... an hour and a half away and that mad car freak friend of his Alex, came all the way up from Columbus , Ohio..... almost 3 hours away!! We spent about 2 1/2 hours talking about the cars and them taking pictures. You talk about car nuts!

It was nice to see their faces as I pulled each car out of the garage. It was priceless!

What was really neat was watching them try to sit in each car. Especially the Ford GT, the Lamborghini Murcielago and the Porsche Carrera GT. Kinda laughed watching them contort their bodies to squeeze in the car. Now I don't feel so bad cause these two are each 100 lbs. lighter than me and probably 35-40 years younger than me and they still had a little trouble getiing in and out! Makes an 'old man' feel good!

I was more than happy to share my time with them and just sorry they had to travel so far to reach me.

Thanks for posting all the pics and videos. Now I have eyewitnesses for any 'duke of doubters'! Glad I could be of help to you guys. Michael 8)

the CGT video doesnt do the car justice because you dont just hear how amazing it sounds in person, you feel it just as much. the internals of the porsche race engine are so lightweight that the revs fly up and down so quickly that when you punch the throttle and it hits redline it feels like something just knocked the wind out of you. it's eerie. it's SICK. automotive bliss.

I don't know if Michael has had the pleasure of standing behind the CGT when someone else redlined it, but I'd be more than happy to oblige the next time we meet :lol:

R U Kiddin me?..... Look at the facts! You're 22 years old and you're not the only 'young' kid in the 20s I've been 'talking' to here on JabbasWorld. Ever since I started this thread in the middle of March, I've met people of all ages from all over the world. Virtually every one of them seems to have enjoyed my pictures and my reviews.

I only had one kinda negative remark and he was just busting my ass a little because I kept giving credit to my Father for putting me in the 'financial situation' I'm in now. He was banned for a short period of time for his remarks and I even supported the issue of getting him reinstated which was done. He and I are now good internet friends.

I've said this before and I mean it! What really 'makes my day' is all of you responding to my reviews. It's like your approval of my writing inspires me to try harder and harder on each story. Since the middle of March, this thread has been viewed 20,783 times (and STILL climbing) and there's been 429 replies. I think that's halfway decent for a beginning 'Ernest Hemmingway'!

I often wondered..... how would I react if I was a 'sports superstar'? Would I ignore my fans who came out to see me just because who I was or would I be like 'Babe Ruth' and clown around with my public, shake everybody's hand and hold little babies for their parents to take pictures. I think you already know the answer to that! I would try to outdo 'The Babe' for the all-time popularity even though I know it would be impossible to do. But boy, it would be one hell of a ride and I would enjoy every minute of it!

You think you're as happy as a 6 yr old in the candy stores. Heck twboy1999, Having all of you as friends and wanting to share parts of my life with all of you makes me feel like I'm your younger 4 year old brother and I'm getting more candy than you because I'm the 'little squirt'! That's happiness!

Hi Erez_Avital, It's good to hear from you again my fellow MOT. Everything I say is true! I can't believe the response to my 'supercar' review thread. It's truly a wonderful feeling having lots and lots of people approve of something you have done if your life and I've experienced it here on JabbasWorld.

I still want to post some pictures of my Father who as almost everyone knows was responsible for setting me up financially in life to be able to buy these wonderful cars.

I also would like to put on some pics of my girlfriend, dogs, home and grounds and pics of some of the wildlife who visit us everyday to eat the food I put out for them. I just had a beautiful little Red Fox wandering around the backyard yesterday trying to get a 'duck dinner' from one of the Mallards or Wood Ducks that were eating the corn I put out for them and swimming around in the creek behind my house. Don't worry... I would have chased him away for the time being if he would have gotten too close to them.

Well guys, I visited Michael today with my friend Rob. Michael was kind enough to take time out of his day to show a couple of supercar freaks his jaw dropping collection of fine exotics.

well michael. i just spent about 3 or 4 hours reading through 23 pages of posts and i gotta say i enjoyed every single one of you reviews of the cars. its written so indepth to make you actually believe that you're there when you roll that brand new Gallardo off the lorry or walking out of the post office and talking to that 80 year old man. it just amazes me that you own this collection of cars its just wow is that possible but your reviews make me see them in rainy Seattle :D . by the way is there an M5 review coming soon? haha ive just gotten a ride in a 470hp and 415ft-lbs M5 with a Dinan S2 package and i am absolutely raving about it (and its for sale too :wink: ). but just sitting in that M5 while it revs is just whoa. im just imagining that feeling when you start up your cars and tap on the gas a little bit. it will just be like wow the feeling is surreal. and now i know what it feels like when people say they get whiplash. i mean owning all of them must be like whoa every day. they are all works of art truly. but i love the choices you have made like keeping the Ferrari over the SLR :lol: . i cant even begin to fathom going into a dealership of that status and actually CONSIDERING to buy one of those cars. haha cheers man

Point well taken on the garage! I'm actually a little embarassed looking at a few of the pictures myself!. Sometimes I can get a little lazy and things start to get a little cluttered. My girlfriend bitches me out all the time.

In 2 or 3 weeks, on a couple nice warm days, I'm going to clean the garage up and even paint it white instead of the off yellow color. That's the color it was when I bought the house several years ago. I apologize for the mess! :oops: Michael

p.s. The covers were off because of the picture shoot from the two guys who came over. All the cars are washed and covered now though!

Really don't know too much about them other that what I read... the same as you. The dealer where I got my Maranello, had a new Saleen S7 but it was too much money especially after I had just bought the Carrara GT.

The Koenigsegg, the Zonda, the MC12 and I think the Spyker are all too damn much money. You gotta be a shiek, Bill Gates or another big time tycoon to be able to buy those. I'm not in that league of players! :lol: Michael

Hi Alex, Yeah, it's been raining beaucoup over here too. Kinda tough to cut the grass or take one of the cars out until it blows over.

I put all the Battery Tenders/chargers on. It took the Carraera GT 3 or 4 days for the charging light to go off. I guess I hadn't been driving her enough.

Hopefully the rain will stop in a day or two. But to be honest, the weathermen saiid we were down 3+ inches and the farmers were hurting so even though it's tough on us, other peolple are benefitting from all the rain. "Se la vie!"..... did I spell that right?

Aston Martin DB9 would be an amazing car to get Michael. It is one of my favorites, because it's just so gorgeous to looks at. I would spend most of the time just looking at it :drool:

This car would be a great addition to your already amazing car collection. The DB9 or even a V8 Vantage would be great, and maybe you'll feel a bit like James Bond when you'll drive it. :P

Just wanted to ask, but why don't you have any classic cars? Just not into them? They won't be any where near as fast as your current line up and they tend to be a major pain the ass, but just look at them!

Just wanted to ask, but why don't you have any classic cars? Just not into them? They won't be any where near as fast as your current line up and they tend to be a major pain the ass, but just look at them!

phew, that's an impressive stable! as for the daily driver, i.e. replaceing the Range, DB9 is indeed an eyecatcher and would perfectly fit into your
garage but considering all the sporty GT's you have I would recommend a
Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT as a daily ride, also an alternative if you
take some friend around!

Looking at this collection makes me pause and is now giving me a headache. Maybe because it's 444am or i should be sleeping already. I honestly didnt see this thread for the whole time I've been on JW. I only heard about it from Sir_GT a few days ago in front of his house. I wasnt even looking for it but when I saw this thread I was thinking "is this the fellow that Sir_GT told me about?".

I havent really taken a good look at your collection for very long in fear of myself being sucked into looking at it for longer than it is healthy. The cars are beautiful and I wish I was the one who took pictures of your collection. Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine accumulating that many nice cars at any given time. Living where I live would make ownership virtually impossible to enjoy because of the bad roads and traffic. Then again I could probably build my own FIA-certified race track for trackdays with friends & family.

Seeing your collection inspires me to work a bit harder in what I do now and your giving credit to your father reminds me that we must cherish the time we have with our family. My mom also had a close call with cancer but we got it out in time but it still haunts me when I hear the C word.

I think it is great that you're sharing this. It brightens up the day of a lot of people. :)

Thanks for the compliment! I wish I could say I worked my ass off to acquire these cars but as you know it was my Father who busted his butt all his life that gave me the ability to enjoy these cars.

I had a scare myself 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I didn't want to take any chances and had my prostate removed. Kinda humbles your ass no matter who you are when you have to wear diapers for 8 months because of incontinence.

Well, I guess I didn't keep my word when I said I was done buying cars for a while. A friend of mine mentioned to me that he was at our local Porsche dealer and he saw a new 997 Turbo there. He said it was outrageous and I should stop by and check it out.

This is at the same dealer I had a problem with when I bought my 2003 GT2. His GM screwed me into a 4 year lease deal saying Porsche wouldn't approve a 3 year lease. I found out 2 weeks later that it was a lie by the GM so he could reap more kickback from the 4 year lease. :slap:

Ironically, one of my sons called me the same day and said he had drove by the dealer, saw the Turbo, stopped in and freaked out over it and he too thought I should stop in to check it out.

So with that agitation, I knew I needed to pay the dealer a visit. Well I jumped in the Carrera GT and went to the dealer's new showroom. Sure enough, there it was on the spotlight stage, a new 997 Turbo in Colbalt Blue Metallic with Stone Grey leather interior. It was beautiful. BUT it had a 'SOLD' tag on the windshield! Bummed out!

I called the owner over, had a friendly pow-wow, smoked the peace pipe and then asked what was the situation on the 997 Turbo? He told me it was 'supposedly' sold to a car dealer (non-Porsche) in Florida but he hadn't done any paper work on her yet.

Long story short...... he decided to sell it to me..... at STICKER..... $132,905. I guess he was trying to mend broken fences! I certainly appreciated his gesture no matter what the reason.

It's an awesome car with unreal power as far as I can tell. I'll give everyone some more reflections on her at a later date.

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the story and pics of the 997 Turbo. Magwheel :mrgreen:

First off, let me thank you Mag for sharing this truly amazing collection of cars. I can honestly say that one of your cars occupies my desktop (the murchiealago) for the time being. It is a simply awesome collection of cars that I'm sure every one at jabbas world would love to have or at least drool over for a few hours.

I am absolutely in love with the Blue 997 Turbo. Porsche's are just amazing cars to drive. I actually have the privlege of driving on everyday (a 1986 944, yea no Carrera GT, but still awesome) and I love it to death. I also love that you got the 6-speed, im not a big fan of the automatics, but I'm sure you might be able to provide some actual insight to what a supercar with an auto is actually like to live with day to day, better than a manual or not?

The Ferrari 430 is my dream car and hopefully I will one day be able to say that I own an awesome collection of cars like this, its just a shame that I live in Florida and not up by you, or I would have been knocking on your front door yesterday :lol:

Sorry, but I think I lost my marbles and went ahead and dun dood it! :crazyeyes: I sold the 04 Ferrari 575 Maranello. Just had too many cars and not enough asses! I would rotate the cars in order so that they all got equal road time and exercise. But..... I wouldn't drive any of them in the rain so they're on Battery Tenders a whole lot and it just seemed stupid to try and keep them all. I loved the Maranello but I just got the new Porsche 997 Turbo :drool: and it's a little more fun to drive and obviously a lot faster. Hated to see the 575 go because it was a beauty and ALWAYS turned heads and got comments on being the most 'classy' sports car they had ever seen!
I may decide to possibly sell the F430 next Spring or Summer and get a 599 :mrgreen: but only after I hear some readers reviews. a good friend of mine should have the first 599 to Michigan (if i remember right)... and well, because of the pan-America drive, we may have some additional infor for you ;)

in either case; I should be able to let you know the goods from a owners perspective... Currently, he thinks his F430 (carbon brakes) is most drivable of his cars; while his Enzo is his favorite.
