Yes they are from photomode all except the first one I believe thats an Subaru 360? The intro was just fucking badass I was speechless looked so freaking real! Go to GTPlanet.net once again if u havent seen the intro. Its a must watch! BTW I am over excited right now there is like 5546889489 million things running through my head GT4 fucking rocks!

Cant wait but the rims still have that paper thin look and low res textures..same nitpick I had about GT3 rims...Looks good in the garage but up close on a lap it looked flat...bah...niggles...Ill be too busy at the Ring to notice the rims..at least for the first year or so.. 8)

However good this game will be I still wish there was a greater emphasis on the Euro cars instead of the Japanese ones.....in others words I WANT Ferrari and Lambo. :(

You guys gotta rember that this is a Playstation 2 game so this game is putting the ps2 to its limit.

No Ferrari,Lamborghini,Porsche because EA has the liscense and on their contract it says only EA are allowed to use the models from the car companys stated above. I will replace those same pics in thumbnail form so its 56K friendly. :D

Yeah the textures and models are horrible.

I noticed that some of the car models are rather disappointing looking... a step backwards from GT3... almost the way SegaGT2002 Online was a modelling step back from SegaGT2002.

i have to disagree with u on that one.. to me. i havnt seen a picture of a car that looks worse then gt3.. everything just improved,, specially the background

i will be enjoying gt4 in a few day...pirate version.. lol.. which i think should be alot of stuff cut out... since the offical game is over 9gb

well I have spent some time reading through the 40+ pages at gtplanet to see what cars are in it - pretty good even without the big Italian makes.
We still get to drive the M5, M3 CSL, Zonda, Ford GT, Saleen S7, RS6, RUF R Turbo....etc.
It seems only 2 Aussie cars (Typhoon F6 and SS Commodore) made it into the game which is disappointing, though we may get a Monaro variant (Vauxhall or Pontiac). :)

See - they pulled the C5 Z06 from the game because it was kicking the R34's ass everywhere.. :P ehehe

So - basically the car list is not truly representative of the milestone cars anymore.

Rather sad really.

As time progresses I am becoming more jaded towards GT4, and may end up not buying it afterall.

The delays, combined with the lack of essential cars over time - and the fact that GT3 has unlimited potential with Hybrid cars.

I bought PGR2 just for the Nordschleife.. what a disappointment... and the 'Ring in GT4 is a nice attraction, but not being able to take an F355 or a P911TT around the ring is a huge factor.

I am almost secretly hoping that GT4 fails.. :twisted:

RC45 - they do have the z06 in the game. i have a screenshot of it. That site maybe suffering from lack of updates lol, they have 2 1964 corvetter convertible listed there for christ's sake.

wut's fucked up and totally bullshit is that they have these:

First let me straight things out to wipe that mad look off you face. THERE WILL INDEED BE OLD SCHOOL MUSTANG AND of course your Vette RC :D. Rember that the list at GTP is not yet fully updateing meaning they might have left out a few cars. BUt trust me your Vette HAS to be in. I have seen pics too! :D Ok enouhg of me talking let me upload some pics. I got about 49 pics to upload! I know you will love it! Now it might take me an hour or so depending on how long imageshack will take but please be patient! I am gonna upload them all in one post or maybe I will make 2 since my comptuer was fucking up today or you could have had these pictures right now! Ok I will be back in an hour hopefully. :lol:

:lol: Ok but I just saw that thing where you can upload multiple images! I am a non paying user on the site. So I am gonna try that out. It says I can only do 20 and then have to pay to get more credits but I was thinking I will just make another account or something. :lol: I got more than 49 today but all the ones i took were high res and the ones I thought you guys might like. Such as the SLR with a exaust backfire and things like that. I will get more about 50 more hopefully.

Yes you can use credits: but remember the zip must be smaller than 5 MB ;)

I even paid for 500 credits some time ago, but all the other (almost) 8500 pics I put there were done manually.. doesn't take much more afterall ;)

Soon I'm gonna stop checking this topic because it hurts to see but be unable to play it... I would really like to test it out myself at the store in town, but if I will, I will for sure buy a japanese PS2 and I don't want to waste money!

Well I dont have the game since I am in the states and from what I hear it has improved. Any more questions? Oh and "NOZ" is in the game. You can use it at the Drag races or even on road races! Thats just plain stupid! Who has heard of a Bently EXP speed 8 with "NOZ"? But anyways you can only use it for 30 seconds if you hold the button down and no tapping or anything. I will get translated menu screens and things like that but GTP is unforutually having troubles. 150 000 + people went into just one thread in about under 24 hours that was just crazy!

Yeah plus you are not gonna see the rims when racing unless you are drifting or just spun out. :lol: I hear the sound is excellent! with about 50 tracks and 700 cars compared to GT3 which had like 20 something tracks and 100 something cars. You tell me which is better.

Thats because it is, its a Pentium 3 (733 I think) with an nvidia based gpu. With a standart ide harddrive(partioned in a special format) and a modified DVD-ROm.

I am not sure if GTR goes straight in comparison with GT4 (till it is on xbox) which I suppose will take a while. Though thats my opinion. GTR is an awesome game. The GTR Demo and Press Demo were just brilliant in every aspect, cept' the tracks looked a bit dull (kinda like overcast even when it would be bright and sunny) which really doesnt make any negative point.. Its just that, Thats the only thing you can point out on while trying to pick flaws, i suppose.
Still I think GT4 will kick some major butt when it comes to GamePlay and Physics.
On Graphics, I have no complaints either.
Besides, One is a Driving Sim and one is a Racing Sim.. (HAHAHAHA - Now That arguement will never end). :wink:

One is a real simulation(GTR) and one is a joke. Please never use the word simulation and grand turismo in the same sentce.

I drove GT3 and its as far from a proper sim as dildos from the real thing.

Grand Turismo should've never used simulation on any of their packages.

One lap around Laguna Seca and I can point out tons of things that are wrong with it.

Its a very bad simulation lets put it that way.

Has anyone actually gotten GT4 yet?

I'm sitting here with a copy of the chinese GT4 release next to me (full retail), wondering why it won't work on my ps2 >.<

Its a really sad day for me really... being so close yet so far from being able to play it. Well the thing is, as you know, its a duel layer disc. This means that the slide card software doesnt actually enable the ps2 to read duel layer dvd's (cos its new stuff!). So i was wondering, has anybody with a chipped ps2 gotten GT4 to work?

If so, surely my baby is going in for a chip service :)

i just read throught the whole thread... dayymmm! GT4 is looking great. I am happy that it will come out march cuz I dont have money to repair my G35's front bumper but a ps2 modded, buy a TV, buy the game, and buy the steering wheel.

one last thing bout GTR... its out to buy on PC or not? From what I understand it is, and the XBOX version will be better? Why will it be better and will there be another gtr release afterwards for the PC?

*EDIT* I got a few small videos combined the videos are 17.3 MB's I have 6 videos all together. Two of them are only audio and lets you hear the cars. I have one that does the oil change (shows a guy chaning oil on the car. ) I have one with the car wash where the guys are washing the car.
I have one with the wing shop.

BEST OF ALL! I have a VIDEO of THE PIT CREW! ACTUAL PEOPLE CHANING TIRES AND ADDING GAS IN THE CAR!

Btw, anybody knows the rumors about component cable?
i've read on "gamespot" (http://www.gamespot.com) that the GT4 wouldn't take the advantage from the component AV cable, which is better and crisp graphics...and worse they said that using component makes the car texture more hard, not as smooth as using ordinary Sony AV cable?

They are resolutions. I think if your TV supports it all you have to do is go in the options menu and change it. I have seen screenshots of the options menu and I see you can pick from the different resoultions. Ok another HUGE! I mean this one is gonna be awesome update! BTW I am pretty sure the game is not gonna look that crappy in the 480i resoulton maybe it was just the capture card?

Problem with consols is that those rims are only 3d when the car is not moving. They turn completly 2d once the car starts moving. No console these days is capable of rendering 3d rims :(

Wont argue with that. Rims in GT4 look rather blunt, even while comparing it with a mediocre PC Racing Sim. Although the Brake Calipers are seen clearly (shining red hot while braking), they arent close to even say LFS or NetKar.
But I wont really crib about that, I know the limitations of a PS2 (4 year old hardware) and wouldnt want to sacrifise the Mamoth 60FPS rate, just for Rims which are not even seen while flying around "the Ring" in anycar..
And besides, the RIMs in GT4 Prologue and the Jap Demo were decent enough, for watching the replay and for the photo-modes..

Okay, one more question to you PR :
Can you save while doing Endurance Races? I just saw that theres 24 hours of Nurburgring Race in the Endurances.. As much as I'd love to do it NON-STOP, I cant. I am a human, not a BOT! :P .. Atleast not in front of a TeleVision. I'd be awesome if we could save in between pitstops or something you know. Even though theres no fun, but we dont pit just for the heck of it, we pit for tyre, fuel etc change, refill etc. So that means while we restart the race after a refreshing save, we have a fresh pair o tyres, fuel etc..
I'd be obliged if you could confirm this, MY GTP is too slow as of now, been waiting for the page to load since 6 mins..

Gran Turismo 4: Import Playtest

January 3, 2005 - While gamers in America were feasting on new PSTwo and DS systems following Christmas, gamers in Japan were spending some quality time with the latest in Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital's line of real driving simulators: Gran Turirsmo 4. Yes, the long awaited part four of the series has overcome delay, further delay and further delay still to finally see Japanese release on 12/28 of 2004. A few days after Christmas, to be sure, but in time to bring in the New Year with GT4 spinning in your PS2.

So did Polyphony give us a racer worth over a year's extra wait? Well, 700 cars and 50 tracks is certainly quite a bit. We're sure Polyphony could have released the game earlier if it had cut down the car and course count. But, the development team chose to go all the way for Gran Turismo's grand finale on the PS2 (not counting Gran Turismo for Boys, of course), and having such an exhaustive car collection on a single DVD alone makes this game worthy of such an extended development cycle.

When first starting up play, we were greeted with some pleasing news. GT4 makes use of save files from previous GT games. A GT3 save file will start you off with a whole lot of cash in the main GT mode of play, meaning you can pick yourself up a nice car right from the start. Similarly, those who have the Gran Turismo 4 Prologue import will want to make sure that they've cleared all the license tests from that game. Tests that have been cleared in Prologue won't have to be cleared in the final version of GT4.

We were also surprised from the start to see the level of technical show in GT4, especially after Prologue and the recent demo disk. Polyphony is known for pushing the PS2 to extremes, and GT4 shows it. The game offers Dolby Pro Logic II sound support, allowing those with compatible sound equipment to experience races in surround. Video output is compatible with 480p and, surprisingly, 1080i output. Both offer clear improvements over the standard interlaced output that you get on a normal television, and although the 1080i output isn't as stunning as the 720p output we've seen in other non-PS2 titles, you'll still want to make sure you have the proper television equipment to get the ultimate GT experience.

And the fun started even before we'd opened up the box! SCE gave GT4 (probably its biggest game since GT3) the royal treatment, with a sweet package bundling the game in a white DVD case, a reference guide book and a cover sleeve. SCE even made the disk art full color! The guide book, created by Polyphony Digital, is over 200 pages in length and in full color and includes specs on the cars and tracks along with special commentary on racing modes and the photo mode. We hope Sony will give us a similar package for the American release.

For those who want to make photo printouts from the game's Photo Mode there are some Epson photo printers that are recommended as well. By simply hooking up the USB cable to the USB port on the PS2 users can print high-res shots of their cars from the game. It's also possible to connect USB storage devices to the PS2 which can be then used to transfer data to your computer. The pamphlet lists compatibility with Sony PocketBit storage devices between 32 and 256 Megabytes.

GT4 has also spawned a couple of soundtracks. The GT4 original game soundtrack, "Hi-Fi Village Disk" saw release on 12/22. It will be followed on 2/23/2005 with "Gran Turismo Kicks."

The game intro, at over three minutes length, starts off with the GT4 "Moon Over the Castle" theme song like you've never heard it before -- a full vocalization featuring lyrics by Kazunori Yamauchi himself. Yamauchi's Japanese lyrics have been translated to Italian for the song. The original theme song finishes off the intro with speedy racing shots.

Okay, one more question to you PR :
Can you save while doing Endurance Races? I just saw that theres 24 hours of Nurburgring Race in the Endurances.. As much as I'd love to do it NON-STOP, I cant. I am a human, not a BOT! :P .. Atleast not in front of a TeleVision. I'd be awesome if we could save in between pitstops or something you know. Even though theres no fun, but we dont pit just for the heck of it, we pit for tyre, fuel etc change, refill etc. So that means while we restart the race after a refreshing save, we have a fresh pair o tyres, fuel etc..
I'd be obliged if you could confirm this, MY GTP is too slow as of now, been waiting for the page to load since 6 mins..

I am not sure about this I have to get an offical answer from someone with the game I will get back to you in a few...........days or weeks. :lol:

This game is gonna start giving me wet dreams...
notice they even went so far as to add the bursts of flame from the exhausts! Another thing i'm loving is the shadows on the track and the trees and backgrounds... The trees actually look like trees and not cardboard cutouts! They actually have volume

no kidding, i played my friends copy when i was at home over the break, and now i really cant wait for it to be released. the attention to detail is just ridiculous. does it really take 3 bloody months to translate a damn game?! :x

BTW GT-R_R34, how is the experience dude? Is it a turnoff when u start the game and see everything in Japanese and not understanding almost anything? Or does the gaming experience take over the pleasure and the Jap text doesnt bother that much, I know I shouldnt be asking that at-all, but I was just wondering what if it was actually a disaster. Like I am not much of a tuner guy, So I'll be needing guidance of what does a part do to your car, which generally is shown or written while u go to buy that part while tuning, but in this game it'll be all written in JAP, right? Wouldnt that be a major disaster? Atleast the Simulation mode?

WOW, they went all out! The drifting cars are especially impressive! Thats just cool how they actually re-made them with decals, neons, and all! I CANT WAIT! I think I may actually break tradition and pre-order this game!

not a big deal on the language, because my brother speaks japanese. i just ask him what some words meaning then i'm set. some of the game is on english.
the game is amazing although i'm still getting the license. there are 16 stages for every license.
overall is a 10/10 .

damn it looks really really nice, and the thing bout importing your cash, is just uber great ill start with big cash, hehehe.... buuuuuut theres a thing called forza motorsports thats coming out for xbox and looks simply as great as gt4, and it has Ferrari and Porsche which Gt4 does not, plus all the important brands.... so that makes it better IMO, ill wait to play both to see if its really a GT rival or maybe even killer, for what ive read it has great possibilities of being so.
Ha thats the only thing people say is not good about GT4. Other than that GT4 has about 700 cars so.......cant argue! :D

BTW guys my "site" is for some reason down! I have contacted the people and asked them what is wrong hopefully if they read their email i will get an answer! I am extremely pissed right now!

yeah the thing with GT is to start from scratch and buy used cars until u can afford an Mclaren, yeah its great, but instead of starting with a 1982 nissan sentra, its better to start with a brand new lets say hmmmm an alfa 147, not even the GTA.

Because that's EA's job and utter meh. :P . Though I admit I played and completed both, Underground 1 and 2, Toca RaceDriver 1 and 2, but the story thing is a tiny bit for NON-Car-Enthusiasts. People who need a reason to drive cars. I know it adds up to the thrill and fun of gaming and eventually no matter what they claim it is, it's only going to be a "Game". But Story Mode and FREE Roaming City, well its just not GT and Kazunori Yamauchi-ish!
I can almost bet, that even in PlayStation4 and GT 7 & 8, where there'll be plenty of space. They will never add a "Story-Mode" in GT series. :mrgreen:

And as far as Forza Motorsports is concerned, it convinced me to buy THE X-box. Even though its sitting aside, covered with dust for the moment and no amount of Halo2 or Call of Duty : Finest Hour can make me attract to it, only time will tell whether the almighty Forza lives up to the expectations and takes my focus away from the ever green PS2. :roll:

You can see the driver and some parts of the cars interior. Most cars in GT4 have mildly dark tints and during replays, in certain angles you can see the driver fighting the steering wheel, very clearly. So, I have seen in the videos.

do you guys knows that the final version GT4 wouldn't be able to play online? I read it from the gamespot, and it says that the next upcoming GT4 online will release around next year (that will be 2007 maybe, they usually late on making games). The reason is We'll get the bad news out of the way first, though, which is that Gran Turismo 4 will not be shipping with any online functionality. Yamauchi cited "challenges" with the European and Japanese online infrastructures as the reason behind the decision--challenges that would presumably have taken until well after the game's targeted December release date to overcome. Well, today I couldn't resist and I went to the store to play it for a while :D

NÃ¼rburgring + BMW E46 M3!! OHH!! :D too funny! I didn't really lapped like a ring meister, best lap was a 8:36 with a pretty big accident :D I finished 2nd behind a damn NSX wich was 20 seconds ahead :D

It's bloody nice to race on the NÃ¼rburgring :D

I managed to resist since I spent lot of money to rent the damn Smart 45 this month and will spend more to buy a new scale model (Red Line) today.. so a third PS2 is not likely to arrive here for now.. and I still need to finish Star Ocean 3, MGS 3 and Metroid 2.. considering Resident Evil 4 will arrive Friday here, I have lot to play while waiting for the US version

Question to PimpRacer,
Dude, Can you confirm if the Nurburgring F1 Track is in the Game? When I played GT4 JPN Demo, in the Nurburgring Nordschliefe just b4 finishing the lap you can see the complete detailed GrandStands and some part of the F1 track through the Barricades. I wonder if it is in the game? I know its a lame question, I can always go check out the tracklist somewhere in GTP, but as I said due to heavy load of users the speeds there are too boring.

Pimpracer you should chill out a bit with GT4. There is nothing worse the anticipating something so hard and then getting it and realizing that its not that great...Im not saying that GT4 is going to suck or anything like that....just dont get your expectations to hard. Happens to me with computer hardware a lot....expect a lot when in reality its not that much :wink:
Yeah I agree. Its like Doom 3. I heard alot of people say it was gonna rock and stuff but then those same people said it wasnt as great as they thought! :lol: I know its not gonna be this great since I have read a few things people dont like about the game. I will see if I can find that thread at GTP with some dudes LONG ASS review of the game.

@Adswrx I will see what I can find not alot of people have taken screen shots of it yet. BUt I will try. :D

The bad part in all this and that's why I don't really pay much attention to the posts in here (sorry) is that, by seeing 30'000 pics, screengrabs and reading reviews and impressions, you won't enjoy the game anymore.. you will know already what car you will get for the golds in the license, wich modes you will unlock and so on.. it sucks IMO :)

Yeah I agree with you man I am a bit of one of them person that does not want the ending or such to be spoiled but on the other hand I do want the cars and such to be spoild. You get me? I am like 50/50 here. :lol:

I am not sure dingo22, if you'd enjoy the sounds of the cars that much in this game. What they have done is recorded each and every sample of the sound from its real life counterpart (car). But they have recorded with the cars stationary. As theres no load on the engine, so the cars would sound very accurate on low revs, but onces you're pushing hard near the redline, everything would sound pretty much the same 'cept for a few howling machines of which the sounds have been recorded while doing a dyno run, which would put the load on the engine and it would sound, just like it should.
I just hope for the next game they learn that the sounds has to be taken with a load on the engine, either taking an effort and recording the sound while running on the track or during a dyno run (which would be slightly less good than recording it straight from the engine while its pushing hard on the track).

Im in the same boat as u, im very excited for the game, and true i might be spoiling the game a bit by looking at all these videos and pics and stuff, but it just makes me want the game more. I know that if the game is half as good as GT3, i will be in heaven, and im sure this game will be much better than GT3, so keep up the good work. One more question, since there are 24hr races at lemans and nurburing, does this mean we have day to night effects? I sure hope so, i would hate to do the 24hrs in all daylight!

You'll have to keep the PS2 "on" for a lot more than those 24 hours, coz I bet you cant stare at the screen for that long with the immence concentration (that this game needs).

So basically it'll be 24hours Day racing which will go on for most likely 48 hours. :D

That is true they have spent AGES on the sound! I heard a soundclip of a Civic Type R or SI or something with the V Tec and you can hear the V Tec kick in at the high revs! It was mother fucking unbelievable man! OMG!

Thats gonna be tough. Sometimes i never understand why things are done a certain way. It seems obvious to everyone that plays GT3 & 4 that there needs to be a way to save during the race. But once again that smalll detail got left out.

How unrealistic is that? To save during a race? Ok GT ain't really the best driving simulator out there, but to save during a race is simply not right :D it's already a lot to be allowed to pause the game actually!

Hehe TT, Then I think you take the word "Simulation" a little t00 seriously, it means trying to be real. :)
Well I think most of the games that are interesting are more games, than real. Like I like Solid Snake more fun to play with than Sam Fisher, its that "Gaming" Element that makes games more interesting, though it has to be game but also has to try to be realistic. So OutRun may be Fun, but its not as interesting as these games that try to be realistic.

Have you seen the in-game videos from Forza? They had a TV special on TechTV or Spike (I forget which), and it didn'y look very impressive. I caught a lap around Laguna Seca, and it didn't look as good as it does in GT3.
