The one is a factory built race car with zero street options - the other is a pure street car running slicks
Hell, the StopTech car doesnt even have a rollcage, it has a rollbar - so its not even legal for competition - yet is faster than a race car hehe

There is something wrong there. The weight of the official 997 cup is 2491lbs and has 420 hp. The one in the video weight 2900 lbs and has 465 HP. Is it home made?
Anyway it was a one lap "H2H" and the 977 cup can repeat the same lap for 2 hours. But it was an interesting comparison. The z vettes are very impressive. I have been to track days at Infineon and the z07 or z06 are clearly ahead of the pack, even against F430 or GT3.

^ I take it the "stoptech" Corvette had a brake upgrade, so no I don't agree. Stock vettes do well with heating issues and stoptech took care of the brake fade. I know force induction brings its own set of problems for heating, but 621 hp from a 5.7 litre isn't really that aggressive of a setup either. This car should be able to hot lap no problem. While the editing doesn't make it clear how many laps they made, it seemed they were out there for an appreciable amount of time.
Listen to the commentary next time. The 2900 lbs was "with driver" which implies everything is ready to go (plenty of gas etc). The curb weight you mention is really just a fantasy land figure for an unladen car. In reality, the guy who eats too many cheeseburgers pays a bit at the track (not that the driver here was terribly heavy). I'll repeat, actual race weight is NOT equal to the curb weight.
And c'mon, it's slammin' Sam Hubinette, like he'd lose to some schmuck in a Porsche.

A GT3 Cup car is a 3.6 not a 3.8.
Anyway, where did they find an American track with corners in it??? Crazy.

Next time let's use a skini German Porsche Cup driver for the test
Note that the number I had where from Porsche AG and these numbers are quite reliable. In fact it seems that their Porsche was built "in house". Check there website.
Anyway, yes the Z-vettes are very impressive as is, so when they are tuned they can put many cars to shame...

hahaha, not really. Theres a lot of great tracks in the US.
The GT3 has around 6.21lbs per hp, to the vettes 4.95lbs per 1 hp. That puts it at a big power disadvantage. If both cars were to have similar power to weight ratio...either the vette would weigh (almost as much as a GT-R ) 3856lbs or the GT3 would weight 2300lbs.
Considering the relatively close performance and the fact that the GT3 is purpose made for racing and would almost certainly lap longer, be more fuel efficient for pit stops, is N/A with a flatter torque curve, etc etc..
I would have to say that I'd take the GT3 cup.
Also, cages are heavy. You should say the vette is lucky it doesnt have that cage weighing it down.
Is it weird that every time I argue with you like this I feel like japan after pearl harbor? "Oh shit, we probably shouldnt have done that just now"

All the above is only contextual if you want a track-only car though.. -- that's the point here, the C5 Z could be driven to the track, kick a purpose-built-race car in the nuts, and drive home again

Full chromoly cage for the Vette would be less than 80lbs I believe.
