similar weight, good suspension, good tires and excellent brakes...oh and 200hp more. Im not too too surprised.

There is something wrong there. The weight of the official 997 cup is 2491lbs and has 420 hp. The one in the video weight 2900 lbs and has 465 HP. Is it home made?
Anyway it was a one lap "H2H" and the 977 cup can repeat the same lap for 2 hours. But it was an interesting comparison. The z vettes are very impressive. I have been to track days at Infineon and the z07 or z06 are clearly ahead of the pack, even against F430 or GT3. |
^ I take it the "stoptech" Corvette had a brake upgrade, so no I don't agree. Stock vettes do well with heating issues and stoptech took care of the brake fade. I know force induction brings its own set of problems for heating, but 621 hp from a 5.7 litre isn't really that aggressive of a setup either. This car should be able to hot lap no problem. While the editing doesn't make it clear how many laps they made, it seemed they were out there for an appreciable amount of time.
Listen to the commentary next time. The 2900 lbs was "with driver" which implies everything is ready to go (plenty of gas etc). The curb weight you mention is really just a fantasy land figure for an unladen car. In reality, the guy who eats too many cheeseburgers pays a bit at the track (not that the driver here was terribly heavy). I'll repeat, actual race weight is NOT equal to the curb weight. And c'mon, it's slammin' Sam Hubinette, like he'd lose to some schmuck in a Porsche. |

A GT3 Cup car is a 3.6 not a 3.8.
Anyway, where did they find an American track with corners in it??? Crazy. |

If both cars were to have similar power to weight ratio...either the vette would weigh (almost as much as a GT-R ;) ) 3856lbs or the GT3 would weight 2300lbs.
