Each Ford GT will be powered by a hand-built aluminum 5.4-litre supercharged V-8 producing 550 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. With a top speed of 205 miles per hour, it is the fastest production car ever to wear the Ford oval. "I can't wait to get behind the wheel," said Shirley, a retired Microsoft executive who lives in Medina, Wash. "The GT has classic lines and great power, and it's reminiscent of the GT40s of the 1960's that were so successful. It's going to be a thrill to drive this car." Public sale number two will take place next week in Los Angeles, when Jay Leno receives his 2005 Ford GT in Los Angeles.

It´s a nice capable car and everything but $557,000 is way too much money. But I guess if you have millions and you want the first car no matter what and you´re giving money to charities, then it´s ok.

think of what chassis #1 could possibly get 50 years down the road I would consider that a sound investment. And yeah it's for charity so it's all good. And one hell of a car.

that's because of people with attitudes like yours that don't think it can happen. If people actually tried to figure it out they could. I will never give up a gasoline engine until the day there is actually no source of gasoline on the planet period. and even then I will keep the car at home as a memorial.
