I recall running a poll on this site when it was busier asking the european contingent what car they would rather have, and the american contingent the same thing.

It was backwards to what the common euro belief was. They would rather have a Mercedes AMG car with a slushbox than something like a GT3. Of course this wasn't everybody; but the vast majority of euro's on the site.

Contrary, the Americans wanted cars like hte GT3 and Z06 rather than the straight line rockets.

Oh, tforth, I would rather have a Buick T type Riviera than many euro cars from the same era... incl. Jaguars/ Mercedes/ BMW's/ Renault's... there are of course a few exceptions, but the T type was awesome!

Car sales are motivated by the market, the reason American cars aren't really sold in Europe is because they're (historically) a bit big and wobbly for the narrow roads here which involve 'corners'. Fuel prices also play a massive role. Conditions are very different.

Also FYI, an apostrophe is used to denote possession, not plurality....

I'm not a fan of the styling on any BMW's before or after the E30 M3, until the E39 5, and E46 3. And today, I again am no fan of the styling. They are better than some other cars of the era, but nowhere near my cup of milk.

Also, four periods is overuse; three is correct.

The truth of the matter is; European countries have huge tax disadvantages on importing American cars in general. The US market cars don't do too many favors to themselves either when pricing those cars in the European markets. It isn't about what Europeans prefer, since the market was never allowed to properly set itself like it has in the USA traditionally.

Periods? No bleeding on this end boss. I think you might have your import tax theory mixed up. Japan isn't part of Europe yet cars from the East are not over priced wether they're built here or there. The thing with American cars, a Mustang in the U.K. e.g. is that it has to be personally imported, which attracts import duty. Try to remember that European cars are very different from those in North America, needs are different, expectations are different.

You can buy a Corvette here, but from a Cadillac dealer (if you can find one), Chevrolet here is what used to be Daewoo (Daewho?). America might well be a good friend to Europe and thank goodness, otherwise we might all be speaking German but cars do a different job. The market speaks for itself, if you could sell thousands of cobalts here then you'd be able to buy a cobalt here..............
