I mean, sure most people could afford to buy a Ferrari... but most of those people couldn't afford to insure it, gas it up, pay for maintainence or afford the other car that a person who owned one probably would need.

Although its good to think that someone can live the dream.

Cheaper than you'd think if you are only using the car as a 'toy' for the weekends.

As others have said, the key to being able to afford supercars on average wage is being very careful with your money and staying single!

As TT said, most people end up spending all their money on raising children and providing a home for the family.

Mortgage on a four bedroom house in a nice area might be 4 times as much as renting a one bedroom flat in an ok-but-nothing-special area...

Owning a nice car does not necessarily mean one is rich. Some people want to own a Ferrari, so they save up to pay the deposit, and live within their means to pay off the loan. Ferraris are not prohibitively expensive, although you could probably buy a small apartment with the money you need to purchase one.

Policemen in New South Wales start off at around $42000, so around $30-31k in US money. Considering this bloke has been a cop for some time, you would expect him to earn a decent wage. Also, Americans earn slightly more money than Australians, on average, but the cost of living is a bit higher...

I am not sure why everyone keeps refering to this car as a 512TR when everything I have seen says that this is a Testarossa and yes, there is a difference. Since everyone already seems to be preoccupied with the cost factor, a Testarossa will fetch anywhere in the neighboorhood of $40,000 to $80,000 USD and a 512TR will bring $80,000 to $110,000.

While they are very similar in design, the cars have some significant differences. Most notable, size of the car (512 is smaller) and horsepower (Testarossa has 390 vs the 512's 428)

I think the main reason I will continue to call it a 512TR is the year given.

If it is a 1993 car then it should be a 512TR if I am not mistaken - didn't the Tstarossa run from 1984 through 1991, the 512TR from 1992 through 1994 and the 512M from 1994 through 1996?

Did you see how passenger side of the car was completely crushed... They must have hit that telephone pole real hard!
I thought they designed their poles with a weak point at the base so when incidents like this occur they just snap over.
