Well - cops are allowed to have fun when they are off duty 
Let's face it, if they had been in a picku truck it would be a footnote on page 37 of the TV guide.. but because it is a "high perfromance sports car" it makes the news.
The 512TR is an old school supercar, and while being a H-12 and all that, was probably not at that high rate of speed when the accident occured, but even a 100mph "over the cliff" offroad excursion will hurt.. hurt real bad.

A 512TR ia a $100K car. After 15 years on the force, making maybe $60K a year, not including overtime and bonus pay - and cosidering he might have good credit and put $50K down and paid off the rest at $800 or so a month why couldn't a cop (or any other hard working person) afford a 512TR?
See - not to sound insensitive, but I have noticed MOST folks seem to worship people who own super cars like they are some kind of god or something just because they have "unobtaibly expensive" cars - when point of fact is that anyone can afford something if you plan correctly - and remember you must not always think of super performance as the sole playground of the uber wealthy - a used super car might be cheaper, but it is just as fast and capable as it was when it was new.
All y'all need to stop thinking int terms of "only the super rich can have col fast cars'

hopefully someone doesnt' decide to sue Ferrari, the cops estate, the actress who's fence they crashed into and the power company for putting the pole there like they fucking did with the CGT :roll:
I would like to know what happened to cause the car to veer left, but i have a feeling someone is going to fudge some numbers in the investigation so that it doesn't look like the cop fucked up :roll:

Veered.. probably is their explanation for a snap over steer moment .
Probably over cooked it into a bend and the car just got away from hime - no foair no foul. One of those "shit happens" things.

that would be difficult to buy one under a recruit's paygrade... but detectives, and guys who have moved up in the force often make upwards 60-80k USD per year... in the right areas... and in Malabu, im sure its even higher
here, a waiter isn't slumped into anywhere near that of a police officer's social and economic abilities... unless the waiter is going to school for the criminal justice system.
a builder... well, periodically, builders start up thier own contracting business; and make a fortune... and the workers after they are established often drive around 30-40k cars/trucks

Indeed, same old wrong comment.. actually many ppl can afford a Ferrari, even a V12. Not only a cop is not badly paid (well, I actually have no idea about US, but around here they start at some 4200 USD / month and the pay raise quite quickly to 6000+ without major efforts), but well, you just have to live in a pretty modest house, avoid having 3 childrens and a wife, and hop, you'll have your Ferrari quite easily afterall...
Pretty sad thought that when an average person buy a Ferrari, everybody point the finger wondering where he stole the money, while when the same person buy a nice house and send his 2 or 3 sons to University, nobody seems to argue :bad:
