The diesel engines I have tried have been pushing real good already at 1500 rpm and up to 4000 rpm and then the redline is at 4500 rpm. For track racing this might feel a bit impractical, but for cruising it's great. You don't have to change down just because you suddenly need some extra power. You don't need an automatic transmission when you can drive in top gear from 50km/h to top speed.

Just if anybody cares, the strongest diesel at the moment is IMO a VW Pheaton from B&B with the V10 TDI engine producing 400bhp.

Its not the strongest of course. VW is V10

5.35d -even stock- is the most impressive diesel engine
