Don't worry alot of people do Oh and as for the McLaren F1 not exciting clarkson i think he's talking more about passion more that driving excitement and speed.... remember he is a Ferrari Nut!! (something sbout them just excites most people including myself) Though i still think the F1 is an awesome bit of kit, and of course top notch engineering from woking

Yeah that’s a good point. I feel the same about Ferraris. I got to drive a 360 the other day at thurxton (21st birthday present). Could of gone for a Porsche 911 turbo for the same price and although it’s a faster car I didn't care it had to be the Ferrari. Superb day and I would recommend it to any petrol head. However the best part of the day wasn't driving the 360 it was driving a formula Renault on slick tyres!! Even with a 5,000rpm rev limit the thing is seriously quick. :shock:

i was thinking going on the one with the lambo/360 package.....

How was it? Been on any before you can compare it to? Rev or driving limits enforced?

Cool I'd love too get the chance of a drive, i'm a bit young though Any pics of your drive in the 360/ formula renault BTW?? Do they do a lambo and 360 package as one now? If they do go for it I had to drive a Merc SLK (told my Dad NOT to take any photos when I was driving that).

In terms of rev limits being enforced the answer is yes They tell you to change gear in the road cars and its electronically controlled in the single seater (you will get that wherever you go). It also depends on which instructor you get. I went out first in an MG (can't remember which one) with an instructor called "Ken" and that was poor (not the car I was surprised by that). Then I went out with a different instructor in the Merc SLK, coming to the end of the first lap the instructor said yeah good but we're not going for a Sunday drive, so I thought right then and started to pick up the pace (quite a lot) and he didn't say slow down. By the final lap I was carrying some serious speed into the corners and on the straight looked at the speedo and it was touching 130mph. Then I had a go in the Ferrari with another instructor and it a different story. It was quite fast doing roughly 95mph through church corner and 120mph on the straight but doing what I had just do in teh merc I wanted to go faster and change up higher up the rev range. I however did hit 6,000rpm overtaking the Porsche 911 turbo but that was a one off most changes where at about 4,000prm the 360 doesn't have a bit of torque so it wasnt't so bad. Then came the drive in the formula Renault. This was amazing, my dad used to race Formula ford and he tells me "no road car is fast" he's right. The formula Renault was just mind blowing through the bends. You can’t beat the rev limiter but trust me unless your used to driving a single seater racing car it won’t leave you unsatisfied.

I did a formula ford experience at castle combe for my 18th birthday and that was very good but not as good as thurxton, its a very slick operation (get out of one car and jump into the next) compared to castle combe and they have more cars. In terms of value for money castle combe is the best but for choice of cars thuruxton is hard to beat. Next for me will be the F1 car at malory park or I might just buy a formula ford and go testing.

If you can afford it, do it!! Just driving the forumla renault is worth every penny.
