New HD and queries

So know both drives are installed, but i have a problem with my DVD burner.

it is an NEC 3500 (16x max etc..) and i am using Traxdata 8x Discs, burning at 4x with Nero. BUT the disc never completes, it gets to a certain point (usually 71%) and stops burning and using the drive's buffer. I don't know what is wrong

What problems could be causing this.
I really need to burn everything to DVD before reinstalling windows on the 200, as it is currently still on the 80GB
