Nice Jabba. I think Hefner got some competition!
Have you thought about painitings? I couple or even one good painting can really change the atmosphere.
Jabba
05-08-2004, 11:02 AM
I dont think I explained it right...
The brackets the quad setup rests on are on the viewing side of them is it possible to get them on the other side so they dont come so close to your keyboard?
The problem is the monitors need to run at 1600 x 1200 resolution to give a clean crisp image...something to do with an incompatibility issue with the quad video card I was told.
Therefore I need to have them that close to me so I can read the text more easily.

nice pic's as always
it is comming along nicley!!!
nice to see the before and after,
slightley off topic.. but how do you find using that style of mouse?
Jabba
05-08-2004, 11:17 AM
Better for multiple screens as you can give the ball a good spin and get the mouse pointer down to the other end in no time.
coombsie66

Usually giving me balls a good spin doesnt do anything to my mouse pointer position?! :P

Post up the dimensions of your rooms. Then we can have a fiddle with the layout. Our interior designer is coming over next week, so I may be cheeky and ask her opinion.

If shes a looker she can come over and "test the water" in person...will try and get some dimensions off the estate agents brochure for ya.

awsome setup, jabba! i wonder, the fish tank by itself looks great... but do you turn off the light in it when the TV goes on (at least for an important show) to not distract?
The problem is the monitors need to run at 1600 x 1200 resolution to give a clean crisp image...something to do with an incompatibility issue with the quad video card I was told.
damn compatibility issues :x although, ive only once worked on a 4 screen system before... a wonderful sun mycrosystems setup.
in windows xp, i do believe you can set the font, and icon size somewhere in the settings, after work ill see if i can find it unless somebody beats me to it.
totally awsome. and nice view outside the office

Yes the fish sometimes have to have an early night. You're right about the fonts and its an option in the control panel....I will give it a try when I get home. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is hillarious. I would have never thought untill now that getting the mouse pointer "some where else" could be a time consuming affair...lol

From what I have seen of your taste, she would be right up your street lol
In fact, her taste is not really an issue, if you say you want to room based on bright pink, she may say 'are you sure?' but she will do it.

Yep I think I have that and some other s/w that 9x media (the monitor company) sent me...it adds another icon alongside the minimize and maximize icons on the top of every window allowing you to select which monitor you would like your application to run on.
If you dont have it I can zip it up for you and send it over ?

House is shaping up very nice Jabba!
I like the living room with the aquarium. I forgot you had it, was it a pain in the ass to move?
When I first moved out of my moms I took mine with me, super pain in the ass to move. I don't want to have to ever do that again! Managed to not lose a single fish though! Then again, it was an all glass tank, so it was quite heavy.
The first pic of the quad screen setup had me fooled. Because of the dark picture, I thought it was a view from a bay window in your house somewhere! LOL
I wouldn't mind having scenery like that out my window!

Yeh you can say that again...it took alot of planning out.... as well as being a total pain in the ass to move.
It was well worth the effort though as I prefer the new rock layout than the previous way I had it.
Like you I never lost a fish either (so far).

Like you I never lost a fish either (so far).
How hardy are those fish? I believe they are tangs, but I know nothing about them.
I had Discus when I moved mine. That is why I was so surprised they all lived. Damn things will die at the slightest change.
Jabba
05-08-2004, 04:35 PM
Yeh I know about Discus...they are real sensitive so you done very well there not to loose any...
For some people yellow tangs seem easy to keep... other people seem to have a few problems.
I have always done quite well with them...I have had my current ones for just over four years now.

Hello Jabba, I have to say I love your site. Being just new here, I have learned a lot of some of you guys! I think it is quite nice to show so much of yourselves. I really like the Jabbas' moving thread. Nice to see you do all the man stuff yourself. Cutting the grass, cleaning the pool. I am fond of it as well. I am happy i don't have a garden as large as yours. I enclosed some pics of my pool. Hope you like it. I unfortunately do not have time to clean it myself. Here in Star Island Miami we a company that takes care of it, so I can enjoy the pool with my wife and children in our spare time.

Thanks Jabba. The climate is great, but I sure does rain.....Just took some pics while rainin'. I don't want to be to whiny, but in fact the scenery not so great as it used to be. It is still great for me. But my neighbours on my left look up against a container port. If you have a look at the left of the pic of my last post, you can see some of them. Luckily you can hardly see them from our garden.

Beautifull scenery, and a very nice position. The rain and waterways were like that down in florida near key west when my family went on holiday some years back, down to Ft Myres. Rented a waterside house for a couple weeks around the new year time. Weather wasnt quite wat we wanted but it was fun.
Welcome to JW!!
Oh yeah, that view of the ships coming and goin is kinda like we've got from our family apartment in sandbanks:

Thank you very much for your compliment. I already told you I really loved your estate in London. You really had a good interior decorator, especially on the white washed bathroom / kitchen. My wife is an interior decorator, so I am quite into what is hot...whitewash is. The bathroom is great with the jacuzzi...and ofcourse your garage with the exotics is great.

Yeah, miami, that is the condor ferry in the last pic, its a huge catermeran that carries cars and passengers, its jet powered and fuckin quick as far as ferries go. It goes from poole harbour to the channel islands and then on to st malo in france i think.
However it may be great in the calm, but in the shitty stormy weather its really light in the water and gets buffeted around everywhere! Hence when my family and i took a trip to gurnsey one shit wintery morning, my brother and dad were the only people aboard not to empty their guts into the toilets, sinks, urinals, and in my case, half way up the main stairs running for the balcony!! That was a fun trip!
Then when we got there and everyone said, oh thank god for that, 'how long are you staying for?' we were only on a day trip!!!!!!!! So had to endure the same on the way home that night!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah thats the ferry that is always getting cancelled in really rough weather- i've frequently heard its not sailing on the local radio down in dorset, i guess it doesn't handle the weather to well from your description. When i've been on day trips we take the Barfllour out of poole to cherbourg overnight (i know slow) and come back the next night, its much better and i've never felt sick even in proper gale force winds!,if you ever want to go to france i would reccomend that and not one of the light but quick ferrys if you don't want to empty your stomach again   I also have expierience of a very small ferry to the isle of white and I also chucked!!

Yeah, we used to own the house and garden 3 houses down from the flats, but due to inheritence tax reasons we had to sell it in order to keep it if u c wat i mean, so we sold that, and bought this penthouse, which was in shit order, so my grandad organised renovation of it, Its pretty nice now. Its great in the summer, and the ricers dont make it as far as sandbanks, cus there are too many ferraris porches, beemers, mercs etc to put them to shame!! lol

Sorry is that a gangsta rapper we have here on Jabbasworld, learn some comprehensible english please!! :D  The last pics weren't Jabba's house, just in case you missed that, you've got a whole 40 pages to read before posting in this topic
Nice Pics Miami01, your house looks even better inside! :D 8), i particularly like the way you have your wine- as Pato posted above and the long dining table shown below

Thanks guys for your compliments...but in fact it is all my wifes work, she is an interior designer, so the credits belong to her. The pics are all from the same house indeed. One of her latest projects in our house was the winecellar. I am really fond of some good wine.
I tried to make the best pics possible, but I am learning how to use my camera best. I cannot tell you what business I do exactly, but i can tell you that I am in the entertainment business....and no I am not an artist or a singer.

Haha, my god you have an Xray vision, you noticed my scalemodels on my office... I am affraid the answer is no. With a pilot like me on the stick the plane would certainly crash. I tried to fly one, but it was not a real succes.
The guess was nice...but not even close, nope my job is quite dull in fact.

The whole reason i'm studying design is to do something different/ interesting and have ambitions to set up my own business one day so i can't help but admire those who have already done it :D 8)EDIT SINCE DONNY'S A BULLSHITTER CONGRATS TO HIM ON BEING AN ASSHOLE AND NOT FOR OWNING A COOL HOUSE

like you, i also have ambitions to start my own buisness... the one thing i fear doing is barrowing money from investors who would be the real ones owning, with the threat of controling it rather then the entrapanuer (myself in this case)
ive long wanted to create an engineering firm of sorts after graduation, and some of my other dreams have been accomplished (owning/driving a black Testarossa for eg.)
i must say i respect everyone's privacy here, and right to it.

As I mentioned, I am not a real car nut. I used to drive a Mercedes S 600. Great quality, fantastic engine, but nothing really special compaired to Jabba's exotics. After 3 S 600's I wanted something different, but of the same quality. Allways loved the 911, but I do have a wife and children that I want to take with me. My MB dealer introduced me to their other S 600: the Maybach. I have to admit I did not fel in love with it immediatly, but as soon as I drove it, I signed the contract and put it together with my Personal Liaison Manager. The quality of the interior is even better than the S 600.
I asked my son to take some pics of it. I think he made pictures of every detail. We drove to my parents in Pebble Beach this weekend, so I parked it along the beach for a nice scenery. Some of the pics showed me on it. As I am still devoted to my privacy I rubbed myself of the pics as well as the licence plates.

Awesome car miami, thats got to be the best luxury on Jworld by far, it looks real funny how you rubbed yourself out of the pics, looks really mysterious and perfectly understandable, afterall we are really a bunch of strangers (some of use stranger than others :P ) Have you ever seen the maybach review on probably our favourite car program here: Top Gear, the reviewer really likes it and i'm sure you'll enjoy it :D I also prefer the colour of yours to the darker black ones i have seen before and love the idea of a rear speedo, the ultimate in control when your not driving!! :D
Wow, you must have a big or better long garage :P Is it the 57? it seems to, but not 100% sure.

I dont like being made a fool of by anyone. You are not a "jester" you are a LIAR !!! and nothing that you have done has been in anyway "fun". There was nothing original in your attempt at humour either as we saw in some of the April fools jokes earlier in the year.
I would suggest it isnt "fun" that you are trying to provide but more like seek "attention" for whatever the problem is that you seem to have.

Quite easy to say so now IMO, its alot harder when they produce pics pretty much on demand, you can't really doubt everyone in life, and this guy seemed resonably genuine. We asked for interior pics and car pics and got both, it was only when the car was a maybach that the real suspicions started. Never mind whats done is done can't change it now  :)
Well I was about to say something, but everyone bought it so I just went along with it having my doubts.
when was that cos me and TT played along for a while after TT actually discovered it was donny- we all got a bit suspicious about the maybach but you can only ask politely for proof- not much else you can do

That's a nice place Jab, how did you get so rich? I think we'd all like to know your secret..
"A loathsome slug of a gangster, Jabba the Hutt was the preeminent kingpin of crime in the Outer Rim Territories. Basing his operations out of Tatooine, the Hutt had his pudgy fingers in a number of lucrative and unsavory rackets -- slavery, gunrunning, spice-smuggling, extortion and more.
Jabba's physical appearance was as repulsive as his decadence. A hefty Hutt, Jabba resembled a worm-like slug, with a legless, tapered body coated in slime. A wide, drooling toothless grin split his flat face, and two yellow-red reptilian eyes stared covetously from his immense head. Jabba surrounded himself with the shiftless dregs of society, ensuring his protection with a screen of henchmen and hired guns. He lived in an opulent if sand-scarred palace out in the Tatooine deserts.
Jabba's depravity was legendary. He kept himself entertained by torturing and humiliating his subjects. He kept scantily-clad slave girls chained to his throne for his amusement. When fickle, Jabba would send his prize possessions to a ghastly end. For example, the beautiful Twi'lek slave Oola was fed to the terrible rancor monster living beneath Jabba's throne room when she failed to amuse him.
To spread his influence and business across the Outer Rim, Jabba employed a number of smugglers to traffic his illicit goods."

The place looks better than ever Jabba........ :D
I have been waiting for a update in this thread....
I love how the bathroom came out, and the carpets looks very nice, looks very soft and comfy......
I didnt realize how large the area around your house where I can understand you wanting a bad ass lawn mower for that "field".....
The fish pond have you made it or where it a part of the deal when you bought the farm?
another question that white house whats that for, is it a guest house?
the chair looks like it can make coffe along with giving you a nice ride.
great place you got jabba, noe remember to enjoy it too....
and if you are looking for a little hideout in Norway I posted a pic of a cabin I tought could be for you in "what you saw today" forum.
Glad that you were first to make a post brembo...you own this thread and along with TT I know you have always shown the most interest (along with a few more now)
The carpet does indeed feel great to walk on and adds some confort to the upstairs from the hard floors of downstairs.
We re-built the fish pond as the liner had been very badly damaged by the last owners dog.
THe "pool" house contains a sauna and shower and used to have a sink and toliet as well but I had them ripped out as I wasnt happy with the drainage. I may well turn it into another tupe of "pool" house next year with a "pool" table and small bar.
The chair is great although a little on the expensive side for what it is at the end of the day....

and feelt bad for you when shit have happend.........
Talking about the worst shit ever...I came home yesterday expecting my house to have been painted an approriate dark brown...to find it had been painted bright fucking red...I was expecting someone to come out from behind the tree...from one of those TV practicle joke type shows.
The painter said I knew you would either love it or hate it.
I think he could tell from the expression on my face that I didnt like it...as my face was almost as red as the paint he had used...
Anyway I am glad to say that he has re-painted it the right colour now and I should have some pictures up tommorow.

LOL sounds like a nightmare I would hate to come home to find my house in a different color than the one I ordered....and that red isnt actually my cup of tea either.....
But why the hell did he paint it in a red color when you wanted it dark brown???
The other mystery was...when he realised it wasnt brown or looked totally wrong...why he carried on with the painting...
I am just glad I hadnt gone away for a few days and that he had gone on to paint the whole house red.

LOL did your face just go the same colour as the paint again?!!, anyway i'm a bit later replying, so i'll start with the inside :)
As everyone else has said the carpet looks very nice- though of course guests must have strict instructions not to spill ANYTHING LOL (currently cleaning up what is definately lager from my carpet before leaving halls on saturday- of course nobody told me they spilt it :()
The bathroom also looks very luxurious nice to see the jacuzzi front finished off nicely :D
Outside i like your plans for the 'pool' house, exactly what i would do Pool table and a bar sounds perfect to me :D
The pics of the grounds you took once again give a true view of the scale of the place, and fully justify that beast of a mower, when you do have half the county to cut :P
BTW if you wern't a veggie you could have a free dinner from those rabbits :D but its nice to have some wildlife to look at, so long as they don't become a pest.
Finally the paint, oh dear, i'm not sure how calm i would have stayed in your shoes, i'm colour blind but not that bad!!!!! LOL talk about lack of taste, glad to see you have retained yours throughout the house :D
well.. 2am here shit happens..

Yeah I don't think we ever worked out why that was such a big deal to people- you are allowed to park your car sideways if you want or HAVE to (due to a BIG fucking skip) anyhow just wanted to say 50 pages, i wonder how far this thread will go :D

The house looks great Jabba! Inside and out. the bathroom turned out fantastic IMO.
LOL, I'm not sure what I'd do if I came home and someone was painting my house that color! At least he didn't get the whole damn thing done before you caught him!
I know I said it before, but your yard is pretty damn big. Waay bigger than I had first thought when you started this thread. Lots of room to play on!
The pond is pretty cool as well, I didn't know you were putting one in. I must have missed that somewhere along the line. I would like to have one myself, but the Apartment manager might not be happy with me digging a hole in the yard.
BTW, why do you have rabbit statues around the pond? They are all over the yard!
Are you gonna have the house appraised now that you have gutted and rebuilt just about everything?

06-10-2004, 08:34 PM
lol, tell me whats with the red paint Jabba :P
j/k ;)
some nice pics though, the house is sure coming along very nicely apart from that little mishap.. bathroom looks nice all tiled up, the huge desk with your puter on is cool.. the garden looks nice, since you gave the grass a good seeing to with the red machine, prolly helped that all the trees/plants are in full bloom now its summer, and its great to see the wildlife enjoying it :)
I already saw most of the pics :D but nice to see them all :D I love the way the fishes aren't scared by the fake bird LOL :D brave fishes :D
Inside it's already perfect :D I love your PC setup and nice desk w/o to many cables around :D now you only need broadband :D
As for the roof tiles, I'm sure the finished result will be very neat :D

Looks very very good, Jabba! The carpets, bathroom, garden, fish pond etc. :D
The mower clearly does a nice job. In two pictures it can be seen in the background, probably resting after work, hehe.
Although the red paint would definately make it clear a Ferrari enthusiast is living in the house, it doesn't suit it. I can't believe they called that brown... Pity, but I'm sure everything is going to be fine.
Good luck with the house and garden and, more importantly, enjoy living there!

PMSL! Spot of hunting!!
Here is a pointless bit of legal stuff for you...as you probnably can work out, the wild rabbits don't belong to anyone...but as soon as you kill them and you killed them on your land, they become your property, and are capable of being stolen e.t.c lol ahhhh now I know where all that training went! (obviously if the animal is protected the above does not apply!)
Anyway, I think the new 'red' looks a lot better. What depth is your pond?? Being a cpmplete fish novice I am literally winging it with this pond. I am making mine about 4ft deep, with all the correct filters e.t.c I thought Koi can't be that bad, then to discover that there are whole books on how to keep the fuckers!! Expensive things too! Anyway, I will leave my pond out of your house thread, but I may be after some advice at some point!
Do you feel like you have settled in yet? Or can that not happen until the painters e.t.c go away? Imagine if they changed the Rosso Red of the 355  I can imagine your face would be brighter than the old red on the tiles!
Anonymous
06-11-2004, 10:54 AM
Yeah i think the new colour is good and once the whole roof is painted it will look fine, plus with time it will weather a bit so it doesn't look so new and blends in better. As for the air rifles hehehe talk about big boys toy's excellent pieces of kit, where i worked we used to sell a few but nothing like those, expect the SAS to call round asking for thier guns back if you get one, they look mean :D I bet you can't believe how much you've done to the place in the past few months, but i'm sure you'll feel all the effort is worth it with the final outcome :D

LOL thanks it does look very sparkly :D 8) That pic was taken during a rare bit of good weather at easter, Sadly all the way down from derby the mini was cutting out a idle LOL so i was having fun catching it at roundabouts etc all the way. Still as you say TT 1500 wasn't that bad, i was expecting that many just on the topic of the england match  The one thing i have to try and avoid is logging out and losing so many posts as you say Jabba extremely annoying
Indeed, same problem here. Sometimes I don't have the time to read all of the new posts at once and I don't want to loose the new posts signs... So I now have a second account (Kiran) that I occasionally use when I know I don't have enough time to read everything.
Btw TT, nice concept on jabba's house!! :)

wow jabba i havent been seing this thread alot lately but with the new pics i can tell i have been missing out on alot!
first of all congrats again on ur house its awosome! very very big for a single man (im right right  ), the backyard ir very very big i recomend u to buy a rc nitro car and put some ramps and u dont know how much fun u will have!! of coaurce until u wreck one cause u wont land perfect everytime, but u can always buy a new one instead of fixing it :D , and also another idea is that in ur yard it would look cooler if u cut ur grass like sideways or cris cros or in circles like in a soccer field, at least i think it would look better.
the pond is cool, it looks relaxing... and the tub! wow very relaxing!! i could stay there hours! ohh  another idea, u can put a monitor next to ur tub conected to ur computer and put a wirless keyboard and mouse so u can b on JW even from the tub! , i bet there has to b like a waterproof thing u can put on the keyboard, o ull think of something.
But thers one thing... about the color of the house i dont know why but it looks weirf to me, cause the house looks well pretty old and classy and the paint looks like shiny, well not shiny but new, cause it is hehe, maybe when it gets a little dirtier ir will look better.
and maybe u already said this but what have u decided to put on ur garage? cause u said u were going to put like some ferrari and lambo stuff inside..., i think it would look great if u painted the ferrari and lambo logos on the grage gate.

/\/\/\/\ I think the lambo and ferrari badge are a good idea, but inside the garage no need to advertise that there are two exotics in there maybe......
i didint mean it like that, i meant like when the garage door is closed the logos there facing the outside, if not just the words ferrari and lambo on the door or something like that, i think it would b a nice touch, ot in the inside paint all one side read and all tht other side yellow, maybe a bit too crazy but it would b cool

Imagine how much the house will set back a person!
My conclusion is: Jabba is rich and I'm jealous.
I like the Idea of the garage bin part of the house, and cars under the spotlight.

Wow. It took me 2 goes at it, but I managed to read most of the posts in this thread :).
I have 2 questions.
1. Why did you park the lambo sideways?
2. What the hell were you thinking with the red paint, the original brown looks much better.
Those questions are a joke BTW :).
Although it's nothing like yours, I just bought my first house and move in on the 6th of August. My new garage is a tin shed, but it should be fine for my mini :).
Thanks for the insite into your life Jabba, very interesting.

Good luck with your new place. Seems to me that it is a beautiful residence.
It is nice to see that the surroundings look stunning as well, a typical English countryside I geuss.
I've once seen pictures of the surroundings (which were taken by a guy who I know over the internet and lives) close to Blackpool. It is hard not to fall in love with those countrysides :)
Cheers
wow!!! what a nice place? ur livin the life man; ferrari, lambo, million pound house, possibly a go-kart track, and ur only 33! is there anything u don't have? (or anything ur willing to spare? )

Well, the pool obviously can't be used year round. But the jacuzzi certainly could be. A few friends have them and they all use it in the middle of winter. It gets damn cold here too.
The floor looks great Jabba, the second pic really shows the difference before and after. It was definately worth it IMO.
Was it sanded before it was varnished? Or was it just given another coat of varnish?
LOL, was it varnished, or is that some sort of stain?
<--- not a carpenter LOL

Sanded then three coats of varnish.....talk about a mini sand storm and what a mess....but the results speak for themselves.

Thinking about this as a short term fix for the climate issue.

What are the advatages of having an air dome?
An Air Dome extends the season in which you can use your pool
An Air Dome extends the time of day you can use your pool. Even after a warm July day, if you get home at 7pm it can to be too cold by then enjoy a swim - not if you have a dome!
An Air Dome extends the number of times you use your pool. Even in July not every day is a scorcher but with a dome you can swim in just about all weathers.
An Air Dome means you won't be cold when you get out. Even a slight breeze on a sunny day can make you cold when your skin is wet. No breeze inside your dome!
An Air Dome means saftey for your children and animals. With the pool sealed off you can let your children play outside without worrying if they will accidentaly fall in the pool.
An Air Dome acts like a green house making the inside nice and warm on a sunny but cool day.
An Air Dome saves on heating and chemical costs and maintenance. No leaves get in your pool with a dome and the green house effect does wonders for your water temperature.
An Air Dome can be taken down if it gets too hot, and it can get very warm in there on a warm sunny day.
How do they work?
They are a bit like a big bubble. A small fan blows air in to the dome to keep it up and it is kept down either by a water bag around the bottom or bolted to the ground via a cable around the bottom. The fan uses as much power as a 100 watt light bulb. You get in and out through a zip door. They can be taken down in about 30 minutes if it is so warm you don't need it up.
How much do they cost?
They are not an inexpensive item but they advatages they bring make them worth the money. Select the size you want and see how much it will cost. You will need about 3-4 feet or room on the side of your pool and say 5ft at one end and 10 to 12 ft at the other end to get your patio set in.
