no big surprise that the ford gt came out the winner. i'm pretty sure the results would have been different had there been an slr or a carrera gt. i'm also a bit dissapointed that ferrari didn't want to join. would have wanted to see how a 360CS do the 1/4 mile.

Too bad regular streets are'nt perfectly clean and dry then. Seems to me the plain vanilla 911 turbo walked the Z06 in perfect conditions.

Hehe. So the Ford GT is the fastest production car to be bought in any dealership on planet earth. Surely they must mean "Ford Dealership"

I kinda understand why Ferrari didn't want to participate. Let's be honest, Ferrari hasn't got anything to prove when it comes to fast cars. Also, they don't build cars to win dragraces at the stop lights.

It's a funny test, nothing more than that. They could've put more cars there to make a comparison. I didn't see budget racers like the SR3 Radical Turbo or other "Lotus Seven"-derivatives, no TVR's, no Vertigo Gillet (one of the fastest cars off the line) and the aforementionned blasters.

What surprises me more is that the AWD cars have no real advantage over the RWD cars.

Next time read the article before you post. The GT got second, the S7 won.

Some magazine out there needs to get their hands on all the exotics out there, the slr, cgt, s7, zonda, enzo, and do a full out track, drag, street test.

yeah, but i mean this is Popular Mechanics, they did pretty well for what they could get.

if it were motor trend or car and driver or something, THEN im sure all the big dogs would come out.

ps, in the article i think it said ferrari wouldnt give them any cars.

For me there have been some surprises in this test.......first of all....i didnt expect that the gallardo was going to be beaten by as many car as these, and mostly by the corvette(i was expecting to get it the last place)
secondly.....i didnt expect that good speed of the porsche 911 turbo
thirdly......i was expecting a bit more of the merc e55 AMG, and quite more about the RS6, although their expectations are less than in the supercars
fourthly.....i was supposing that the SL was going to be slower than the E55 once both have 500 bhp, but the SL weights quite more
fifthly....the performances of the american supercars overall were very good
