Cool way to spend a saturday morning!
8)
Okay, if anyone saw my last thread (a question about the Benz brake pads and rotors). I took my car ('02 c230 k coupe ) to another dealer, the one where I got my car.
They told me it will take a couple of hours, and gave me a rental car to drive around. It was a pontiac grand prix or something.
So I drove a quarter-mile down the road, into the Porsche dealership (Which I think was actually together with the Benz one).
I met the sales associate, who was really cool. He was from Germany, and had the accent and everything
I told him that I was interested in the Porsche Boxster (which is true). So I took it for a test drive with my bro. and it was awesome! My first time driving a Porsche, first time driving a 2-seater, and my first time driving a convertible. The drive was swweeeet, it was brand new (2004, about 20 miles on it). The sticker price was $51,000.
I am in love with this car!
Originally, I was looking at getting either the new vette, the boxster coupe (which I was told has been put on ice, and may not reach the States even), or the new SLK.
I took pics with my camera phone, I will post them as soons as I can.
Paz

At this stage, the new vette is probably too much car for me
Plus the insurance will kill me as well.
But I'm not going to rule it out. And if I were to take the vette, it would be the coupe.
The guy at porsche was really cool, once I said that I was in the market, he made a copy of my license and then brought the car around.
I promise to have some pics by tomorrow, maybe tonight.

I vote for neither. I am down for a first shipment Elise. Honestly, that is the car to have. Absolutely brilliant, and what I've been saying we need to do for a long time.
190 bhp, 140 ft-lb, high-revving engine that should be pretty faultless (toyota), under 2000 lbs, removable top, 140mph (PLENTY fast, although yes, it's easy to get up there and then some, there's no NEED), and this thing will keep you entertained for YEARS to come.
That said, as a daily driver it may get cumbersome to deal with everyting that comes with a car that has no sound deadening, etc.
Oh, and it's ~40k, so less than the boxster.

I say you should take the Boxster the corvette is another type of car. For me it couldn“t beat that mid engined two seater. And if not, the Z4 and the Elise are pretty good choices too. (for me it would definitely be the Z4)

The elise is 40 base, but when you add in a hard top, cool paint and the sport package, you're right at 45 sans state taxes.

You forgot to add in the giant dealer markup due to super high demand and low supply.
Oh yea, if you get a Boxster, get the new Boxster S Anniversary. Looks awesome. Unless they aren't being sold in the States.

There isn't much markup at all. You can get a car if you lookhard enough. At MSRP.
I dunno, I'm just not into the porsches at all. I have respect for the race cars, but otherwise... however that elise is really the ticket, imo. a bit overpriced, but where else will you get what it offers?

I'm living in Orlando, Florida.
The boxster S may be a possibility. I'll have to start pricing soon.
