There's another topic on this car already somewhere at the forum, but as far as I know it doesn't have these pics.

I can't help but like this car. It's deeply flawed, but it looks good (from the perspective of the eighties, that is) and it sounds brilliant.

Is it front or rear wheel drive? I should think it sounds lovely. Doen't look great though!

The engine derived from the 328's engine, not the 348. 8.32 (like in the Thema's name) means the same as 328. 3.2 litres and 8 cylinders.

I think they detuned it because the suspension and driven wheels couldn't cope with the original output. Judging by the financial state of Lancia at that time, converting it to RWD and re-work the whole suspension would have been too expensive. Besides, it would never have gave them any profit like that. Most simple and feasible solution for them must have been detuning the engine. Too bad. Like I said in the other thread, if they would have taken the pricy and difficult road, this car could have become an icon like the Lotus Omega.

It might have some similarities, but it's different. The Saab 9000 did share its platform with this car, however. So did the Alfa 164.
