The following is a test I read in a magazine. They tested several car accelerations from zero to 100 mph and then the stopping time. However you will notice that the total time is not the total of the acceleration and deceleration only but it also includes a reaction time. Reaction time is the interval between the acceleration phase and deceleration phase. This time is directly related to the car and the person driving.

The car were not test all against each other but rather were divided into several groups as follows:

Hot Hatches: 147 GTA - Civic R - 206 GTI - Clio 182 - Megane RS
Fast Coupes: TT - Crossfire - RX8 - 350Z - Monaro
Sports Cars: Alpina S - Elise 111R - Boxter S - TVR T350 - Vauxhall VX220
Clubsport Specials: M3 CSL - NSX R - 911 GT3
Big Guns: DB9 - Gallardo - Murcielago - CL65 AMG
The Rufs: R Turbo - CTR
0-100-0 Freaks: Dax Rush - Focus - Metro - Suzuki - Mini
Record Breakers: Caterham R500 Evo - Mosler MT900
Supercars: Enzo - Carrera GT - SLR - Zonda
