Default SLR - Glowing discs under braking

I just found this image and thought id share it with everyone, its amazing!!

that is a nice, not many road cars light up like that. Is it the carbon that does it? Cause i was talking to my cusin who is a track driver and he says he dosnt see red brakes on road cars.

Damn...that looks really cool. I didn't know that they fit such a mechanism in the SLR. Any more pics of it ??

there´s a six page article in the previous AMS issue, a comparision between 300 SLR Uhlenhaut-Coupé and SLR McLaren, very nice and good read, unfortunately in german only...

why would you try to get your brakes to glow it ruins them :roll: but if i was a track driver i would do that just for show

It doesn't ruin the brakes, the SLR has ceramic brakes, they are made to take abuse and it it normal for them to glow when you are under hard braking, its how they disipate heat.

What is this mechanism you speak of? The brakes on that SLR are glowing because of the heat created by heavy braking. This is not some ricer glowy shit. Why would they put that on a SLR?
