Have you already tested a Ferrari?

Well i would like to know who have already driven a ferrari, or who has this one in the garage.
I would love to take one for a road test. It´s really my dream car, that makes me lost many time thinking about it, and thinking how can i own one. Off course it´s with hard - or i would say a bit of luck -work, but yes, i guess it´s worthwhile.

So if you had an experience like i sad, tell us

And so far the only person dumb enough to do that for me was a used car salesmen many years ago when he handed me the keys to a Mondial Cab. auto. It was an interesting but boring test drive...

hey TT, what´s worry with my age? just because i´m 16 i can´t drive one ferrari?
I know that it has 1 year to go to i take my driver´s license, but i drive since mine 13 years old and i am so used to go the fastest i can that i have never crashed before. It´s for this reason i´ll make a race car driver school soon, this year.

And you sad that no one would give me his ferrari keys, so, i sad that i would like to have one one day, if i could. I would not go fast on other´s cars, unless he allows me.

How is the ride, while inside it?

It is a well balanced car, the gear change is as good as everyone says. The engone screams behind you as you hit the high rpm.

You have to be smooth with it though. Everything, from applying the gas to steering and braking. If towards the exit you stomp on the gas, the back end will quickly overtake the front. Steering should be smooth, to allow the tires to do their job. In general, you should push the steering wheel, not pull it. So if you are turning right, push up with your left hand. This will make the turn in naturally much smoother, as you are less likely to snatch it.

The brakes are took some getting used to. Perhaps it is because I had never driven anything like it before, but dare I say they a bit 'woody'. They certainly did the job! But I felt little feedback, but they had spent a couple of hours on the track so it is unfair to judge them.

The car feels stable at 160mph even if putting in a sweeping turn. But at this speed, it is even more important to be smooth with the steering.

Well, yes... to young IMO and again you already proved to be completely irresponsible.. maybe after a racing school, and most important, after having your license, hoping you'll be more responsible, well, my opinion could change.. but definitely, now it would be crazy to give you the keys of a Ferrari...

It is not just you either, IMO, there should be (perhaps an optional) test/course for anyone driving a car that has for sake of argument 300bhp. There is no way that passing you driving test is enough! For example, if you purchase a Doge Viper, you can have a training course. I just think it should be more wide spread!

16 is a young age to be driving any powerful car on the open road (a track is a different matter) you have already admitted to driving your car to the limits, the problem is you can be the best driver in the world, but when that person walks in front of your car, or that other really bad driver pulls out in front of you, the consequences don't even bare thinking about.

What I am about to say is not an attack on you, in fact I am applying some of my own experiences to your situation:

I think you will struggle at a race school. I know I don't know you e.t.c but this is why. When I was a little older than you (17) I went to do the UK race courses. I went in there thinking I was a good driver, and I was a fairly good driver. However, being a red blooded male, what the instructers were telling me would just not sink in, I kept making the same mistakes for ages. Then I realised, much to my shock that I had not really been listening. I had heard what they were saying but not applying it. I say it came as a shock, as I went there with the full intention of learning, yet I was the only thing stopping me from doing that.

Also, part of a race course is to see if you have the right personality for the track. If you come booming about, tires screeeeeching then you will be spotted really early on. Being a racing driver has a lot to do with knowing when to push the envelope, and the public roads are certainly not the place for it.

However, on a brighter note, I have no doubts that you, like me will overcome these issues. I really do hope that you will enjoy race school, I also hope that you demonstrate a little more maturity with regards to driving and racing when you finish. I, more than anything, really hope you don't learn why a little more maturity is needed on the roads the hard way. Everytime you get behind the wheel, you could potentially kill someone, it may not even be your fault.

Anyway, enough of my ramble, above all, enjoy the time you have on the track.

I have driven my dads boss' Testarossa around the industrial area the office is in. Very uncomfortable, and very noise, nothing worked in it (air, radio) but who cares the car was lovely to look at, and a bitch to drive, he is thinking of selling it for an sl500, i keep telling my to tell him not to, but i guess his mind is made up.

I never driven one, but I've seen a 288GTO, FANTASTIC!!!
I think that if you are enough intelligent, you use for real your brain, you can drive even an Enzo without problems, you have simply to go within your limits, and everything will be right. If your can't go over 20mph, don't go, build on your experience, enter in confidence with your car and build up the pace slowly. the key is in your brain, If you enter in a car with 400hp and you think you can do like Tiff, well, call an ambulance before starting the engine

yeah i´ll do it this way....thanks for the tips, i guess u understood me...this is one of the most important things to me: to make a race car driver course...i would love to do it...
the basic driving techniques and even advanced i already know, as heel-and-toeing, over/understeering, racing line...i just have to put these on the track...on the roads i´ve already tried but it´s quite dangerous because you don´t have scape areas to secure you from crashing.

i did many times on closed roads near my house, with good grip and good corners. I personally don´t like to go fast when people are around me, for sample, on the "rush hour". I Just like to go fast when i´m alone in the area or when it´s day time. Yeah i made a video of me driving the fastest i can on the roads at midnight time, but this is the only time i can full-race.
I don´t like to do this, because it´s a bit dangerous, but it´s the only way for me to practice some driving techniques.

I can tell you a thing: i´ve just learned how to really drive fast, as in a real race, alone; my father gave me the first steps of driving, but the real fast driving i learned alone.

That´s why i wanna make the race car driver course, because if i have the prodriver´s-license i am allowed drive on the track, just paying some fee that´s not expensive. And, off course, on the track, the adrenaline, speed and safe are so much higher!!

it takes a lot of time to get used to the limits of any particular car on the track, and even more time for the driver to get a "feel" for it. i would definately agree with TT that all young drivers are reckless..... i know i cirtainly was for a long time.

what really changed me was driving Metro Detroit traffic rush hours every weekday the summers i was 16, and 17... comparitively, this kalamazoo traffic is booohya easy 30,000 miles for a 16-17 year old makes good experience/time ratios.

another thing that has helped me is the gradual graduation from power levels in cars.... 2.8V6 --->2.0 I4 turbo--->4.0 I6 ---->5.2 V8----->5.0 V8----> 4.6 V8---->5.7 V8---->4.6 supercharged V8
id say its safe for me drive a car with 405 hp now, as i have done 390
