what to get in the new car area?
now that winter is almost done, im gearing in to sell my Jeep Grand cherokee laredo (8500$ usd to interested persons)
anyway, im looking to get a car with a V8 and RWD and a manuel is a must.
ive thus far test drove 2 cars, a 99 mustang GT, (auto) it seemed to handle much better then the other car i tested, and accellerated similarly except for the downside of being an automatic with a totally gay 3rd gear
the other car was a 2000 comaro Z28 with a six speed. being a six speed was great for fast highway driving, and straignt line. but its steering felt more loose (18000 miles) and felt more on the limit then the mustang did at faster speeds.
both were tons of fun, and im not looking to spend a huge amount... 10-15000 usd.
if its fairly easy/cheap to get the handling on the comaro... id likely go with it.
(mustang looks better to me, and has better all round view from interior)
greywolf, i know you are knowlegable about modifying suspensions for the F body...
thanks for the help all

save ur money and buy a better one next year. None of those cars are really worth it, but then again I dont like mustangs/ camaros/ corvettes so im a little biased.

hmm, not much help here
firstly tell me a car that is better performance for the dollar, and reliable
if mustangs suck, how come they survived, and comaro is in the used market (i still love comaros/ trans ams)
both are highly tunable engines
a vette is outta my insurance price range til im 24 at least

Visit http://www.LS1Tech.com for the low down on just how far you could take a Y2K LS1 Camaro - you are correct - for gut wrenching performance at a reasonable price, you struggleto do better than an LS1.

On the other hand, if you liked the 'stang...we could probably get you a new one (year old but still on the dealer's lot) for somewhere in the neighborhood of 20k. I don't know how the gearbox in the Camaro feels (I've never driven one) but I certainly wouldn't suggest the auto in the Mustang...the stick is decent, but oddly positioned.
I would imagine you could do better than 15 grand for a V8 manual though.

you might consider looking nearer to Detroit, there are quite a few Mustangs for sale...try the tradin times too...they've got a website: www.traderonline.com I'd recommend that over a variety of other classified ad publishers, as you can get a bit of certification of the vehicle's record from them as well.

I'd suggest an f-body over a mustang any day of the week, for most any purpose, except maybe rolling it off a cliff. They can be made to handle a lot better for fairly cheap. Greywolfe knows a lot about that, your right. PM him if your really interested. And if you want a thirdgen with the suspension done, I think hes selling an IROC
