Default Please help me out

i know this might be a dumb question (specially coming from a big BMW fan) but i couldn't figure out how u know the models by saying E36 E60 E whatever... i don't know what that stands for ?! i mean i have a 328i but i don't know if it is a E36 or what ... please tell me how it works

Uhm.. well basically usually you simply know it the E36 was the 90's model, as mine (link in the picture), while the E46 is the present one... and before the E36 in the 3-Series there was the E30...

Now let's see if I can find a good site where all the models are listed with also their model indentification code...

The E36 was the last 3 serie, the "new" 3 serie (from 1998 to now) is codenamed e46.
The E60 is the new BMW 5 serie.
