Default I had a small accident, I sort of need help...

I'll try to be as short as possible especially since the "how" is not that important, but well, yesterday I was reversing out of a parkplace, checked in the mirrors, all was fine, turned my lovely head.. all was fine, GO! ... BOOM!.. LOL, an Ibiza suddently appeared, passing by in the small road and got hit by my mighty rear bumper's left corner... since we were both moving, although not that fast, the damage in his side was pretty impressive for the speeds involved

The sad part is that it's my fucking fault... luckily my car didn't suffered to much of a damage... here are a couple of pics

Yes, I know, the car is sure very clean

The corner of the bumper was slighty deformed, ence those plastic strip bumped out of its track, but I managed to make it slide a little so it remains just some scratch in the paint and the invisbile deformation.. and maybe some special polish would fix that too...

Well here is the question... any idea about how much could be asked to fix the damn Ibiza?
I talked with the guy today (and already informed my insurance and launched the "thing").. he already quickly went to a garage where they warned him that maybe he will need to change the whole body part..
Ah yes, I hit him some 30 cm in front of it's rear wheel, then since he was moving forward, the damage is also a little on the overfender and on the side of the rearbumper (very minor here)... the garage said the "hole" beeing to big, the won't maybe be able to have mean to apply the force to bump it out.. in that case they would need to change the bodypart...
The car was luckily "only" a small Ibiza (the last model) and not a Maybach but still, I'm pretty worried about the price.. if there is to buy a new body part, paint it and fit it.. the price risks to rise quite quickly..

And since I can't wait for the results of the investigation of my insurance, i was wondering if somebody can maybe already shoot some prices right away

Basically if it would be less than around 1700 USD it would still be better to pay it myself instead of the insurance to avoid rising to much what I pay yearly to them... but hell, if it would be close to that I would be seriously pissed off!!
Of course if they could simply bump out and polish the Ibiza it won't be even close (I hope.. because here in Switzerland it's not cheap at all when you have to do such things..)

Any ideas...

Damn, Sorry TT
hate when that shit happens.
cant really give you a guess as to the price. where i live, we dont have the option of paying out of our own pocket. gotta let insurance handle the whole thing, and end up getting bent over in the long run.......

Oh well not a big deal.. the 320 was my aunt's car for some 30'000 km.. and she never had to many problems in ramming everything she had in sight of course I'm not happy when I approach my car from the back but it's not the end of the world and the important part is that nobody get hurt and that the other guy was as positive as me even if he was taking his car home after a check up at a garage LOL!

Anyway yes, here is very cool.. the insurance will check up his car, will pay for the repair costs and only after that they will write me with the bill, indicating how much they paid and how much would my insurance change.. and then I can choose to pay the bill myself to keep what I pay them the lowest possible
And that way the dude will get his car fixed pretty quickly too...

But well.. if it would arrive some 1000 or more USD it won't be a happy day.

LOL it's normal that balck plastic strip is actually in 3 pieces.. a central one and two curved ones on the corners and thanks to that small gap between them, I was able to make it slide and put it back in place but thanks a lot for the concern

it depends on how many panels are damaged......and the severity.....if there is damage to two or more exterior panels.....the price(for a body shop to do the work) can get high very quickly indeed.....know ne one who can do the work on the side for u TT?

No, I have no friends in the business and anyway when the insurance is involved they will do that their way of course. And clearly the car not beeing mine, I can't really take decisions as long as the owner won't do something completely crazy...

I begin to be slightly worried...

Well I dented the rear side panel of an Oldsmobile Alero and did some good damage (enough to have to replace the panel stupid cheap fiberglass) It wasn't my fault since the girl parked too close to me in our school parking lot but I offered to pay for it and it ended up beeing around $700 it would have been $550 to fix the damage so I just payed to get it replaced. *note* I didn't have to pay for labor and that would have been another $600! so for a shit box Ibiza it shouldn't be that much and if it is, have your mechanic look at it. PS: I had the work done at a dealer also.

Thanks for the input T-Bird. You know, the Ibiza may be a shit box, but still under the big wing of VW... and here in Switzerland as I said, you can't really get away with such things for cheap.. and just the labor is usually at least some 80 USD (easily more) per hour...
