Well first off, it's Spyker. They're a company from the Netherlands, have a history from the early 1900s for making 4WD cars and other endurance cars, but also made airplanes in WWI and WWII.

They were only recently resurrected as a car company with their C8 Spyder roadster, which features an Audi V8 engine. They've since made the C8 Laviolette coupe, and then made a racing version out of it. The car pictured above is the C8 Double-12R, and the street version of the race car is the C8 Double-12S.

They have planned for next year a C8 Spyder-T, which turbocharges the Audi V8, and a C8 Spyder-R, which will be entered in GTS class in LeMans in 2005. They're also toying with the idea of building a closed-top prototype like Bentley for LeMans.

I sort of kept the time when I first saw them in february 2001. I wasn't too impressed with the design beforehand, but I spent three quarters of an hour watching the C8 spyder and C8 Laviolette, continuously spotting new details.

The Double 12 is a real racer. Form follows function. IMO the rear is too long to call it beautiful.

Don't you guys also think that pictures in the night with the lights on are just beautiful not only with the Spyker but with any car is gives the car another extra edge.

Very beautiful car, and I've sat in one at the AutoRAI, it's really cool (also for a 6"4' guy)
