You know a buddy of mine is in video production, he said in the 80s it cost a fortune to do those sweeps and clip fades. We're talking $25,000 a piece in 80s money. The equipment was also expensive, $250,000 - $500,000 just for one editing machine. Now you get silly Windows Movie Maker for free.

lol @ the grand national ad, dealers used to drop in a boost controller and raise the boost to ungodly levels for customers, it was the ugliest fast car you could have at the time, my father had one, I still wished it came with a manual but they were only available auto slush box

A friend of mine stuck his neck out on the line to make the Grand National happen... kind of a funny story.
GM brass were making a concept of a woman's buick. Steve Pasteiner brought in a sketch of a bad ass mean looking regal variant. His boss said "you're on your own with this one!"
A mock up was made, and an easel to show GM's big-wigs the progress of projects at Buick... first, the woman's car... than, the presentation ends, with the page being flipped to the GNX concept renderings... Steve's boss side-steps to physically show his disapproval... but the guys loved it, and gave it a "Go!" ... suddenly, his boss takes a big step back in the picture basically attempting to take credit for that initiative. The rest is history

^Yeah, the car is a minor cult classic. Despite the fact that it is a bit wanky now, it must have been pretty cool at the time.
