power/weight won the first part.....absolute power won overall.....still, not too sure with these Top Gear bods, they have to factor in the entertainment value in the show too so maybe not as realistic as it should have been!

PS Veyron in red proves that money cant buy u everything!

Veyron didn't launch as hard as it can so it was tight race, it could have won with (much)bigger gap if launched properly

Yeah. For a such a high-budget show, they often slip up in editing. The drag race was purely for entertainment value, nothing more.

You can also clearly see that the Veyron's spoiler height changes for like a thousand times in the clip.

Yeah, I noticed that lol

That said... as much as I'm no fan of the F1... it's punch from 60-150 is pretty amazing. (one test I recall suggesting less than 10 seconds). Low weight, and a small profile help.

I love the F1, it is much cooler than the Veyron and personally my favorite between these two unbelievable cars, but like stated before if properly launched the Veyron with its four wheel drive would have smoked the F1 no question about it ... either hammond slipped up or top gear tried to make it more entertaining ... either way a shame given a rare opportunity on such a nice open road to truely compare these two wonderful cars

I remember reading contemporary road tests....they were stating that above 150mph it accelerates faster than an F1 car of the same period! I think it will always be the greatest in terms of purity - up there with the F50, its just a shame that topped out at ONLY 202mph

Thanks a lot of fun to watch. F1 still my favorite. and still the best in my world, as there is never a mile to race.

I'll say it again, if I had the money, I get the F1, no way I would get a veyron, because frankly, if money was no object, then it comes down to beauty, and sorry veyron fans but that is one ugly monster, no thanks

Oh yeah. Fo sho. And the F1 is a study in uncompromised engineering and purity in design. Gordon Murray claims that there was only one minor engineering clash during the entire project. Massively impressive when building a car, and not just any car, but the fast car of its time.

Veyron, as impressive as its performance it is, is less impressive in conception. A project that was completed by just throwing a lot of money at it. It's just not very evocative.
