Default Kid kills 5 in BMW M5 at Travolta's runway

This happened in late January, I hope this is not a Stan. I searched but could not find where this had been posted here.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=124526

I saw the horrific photo at Wrecked Exotics and searched for the news article.

The 18 year old in his dad's new (1100 mile) BMW M5 with 4 friends in the car (it was one kids birthday that night) at 3 am in the morning, snuck onto John Travolta's runway in Florida to do a top speed test. The driver didnt leave enough room to stop or assumed the runway went on forever, past its 1.5 mile length. The car went off the end of the runway and went airborne for 200 feet as there is an 85 foot drop off at the end. The car was ripped apart as it hit large live oaks killing all five kids on board.

The kid was posting on the M5 forum just days before the accident, talking about how the car was making harsh sounds as he paddle shifted at 140 mph.

RIP the four friends who were needlessly killed.

I would partially blame his dad for letting a kid have easy access to the keys to the M5 without properly educating him the way to drive and consequences.

Its all too late tho, RIP.

Sad story indeed. And it's also a stan.

^^ I for one feel like a complete idiot using the search function. I know it's advanced, and probably works great. But for me, 99% of the time it doesn't work at all!

No-one to blame for this except the driver.

Period.

The airfield is not to blame. BMW is not to blame. The father is not to blame. The internet is not to blame. Computer games are not to blame.

It's tme to stop "looking for the culprit" and just face up to the fact "shit happens in life".

RIP to the buddies, but for goodness sakes, its just 1 of 1000's and 1000's and 1000's of traffic accidents.

Since runway was unlocked. I suspect lawyers of parents of 4 boys who were killed, will use this as the deep pockets.

Yes, the driver was solely responsible for what happened.

I think a few DE courses would have been a good idea before this kid was given access to the car.

I am just amazed when I go to wrecked exotics at the lack of respect people seem to have for speed and alot of hp.

if the kids parents get ANY money from this then im gonna bullshit to teh justice system. WHo cares if its locked or not it doesnt mean an invite or anything like that. IF anything the father should be sent to jail for a while so he can learn that giving the keys to a power car to your son is a NO NO!!!.

The M5 dad should get financially raped by the lawyers of the other kids parents

It is the drivers fault, although I think it was his friends own choice to join him

Driver apparently wasnt drunk. I'm sure there was at least one kid in the back seat going "hey time to brake".
