Pitfield, the aerodynimisist!

800 hp, 254.7 mph, drag is quite easily calculable, assuming its a cool day around 70F...

great find Pagani! Seriously great find! I'm told the whole DVD is available on Callaway's website

http://store.callawaycars.com/apparelcollectibles.aspx

although, I'm not sure which DVD it is on..

^ for a 'vette? I think that applies to most any car that goes faster than the Veyron.

imo that is the most remarkable fact about this car... so was this a private project or sponsored by the company?

I had a nice conversation with Reeves Callaway yesterday...

GM's then chief engineer, Dave McClellen (sp?) was very much involved with the project (and later the ZR-1) The project was backed officially by GM to have Callaway find the limits of what a Corvette can do....

The tires alone were $1,000,000 each in 1988... and closely guarded by Goodyear...

Did GM lose the notebooks and reseacrh data? Because we are in 2008, 20 years later and there is still no production GM car that is even close to the Sledgehammer.

In fact, it would seem there is only 1 production vehicle on the planet that can do what they pulled off - be a 250mph daily driver - the Veyron. ( I bet the Germans stole their notes )
