Why did't BMW made this car like the SL.. a hard top convertible.. it would have been much much better..

BMW said that the reason it went with soft top was to allow more space in the trunk and back seats, since the retractable hard tops take up so much room. The design of the soft top lets them give the convertible a similar roof line to the coupe and they also claim a new soft top material design will keep is almost as quiet and comfortable.
