Default Insane turbo rotary Datsun 510 on Ebay

If only I had the money...

The auction has ended, but I am sure the car is still for sale. I have known about this car for years now and the work done to it is very impressive.

That is a awesome car that is perfection to the limit that would be awesome if you swapped the engine for a 20 b 3 rotor engine.

Someone should tell him that just because he put $28k into it, doesn't mean it's worth that much. I'd be surprised if he could get half that.

Also, I'd love to have a 510, but they are impossible to find in decent condition in my area.

The coolest 510s will always be the BRE's.

It has enough power as it is. It only weighs about 1700lbs and has 300+ hp. Thats a pretty good power to weight ratio.

I have heard some of those vintage 510 racers have been selling in the neighboorhood of $90,000+!

I love 510s. They are so much fun to drive, like little go karts for the streets. I wish I had the time/money/space to have kept the 510 I had

The first time I ever saw a 510 in the flesh, it was one of the BRE cars at Road America during the ALMS race.

Here is a pic:

I knew they were small, but I was surprised at just how small they really are. I would love to have one of these things.

Jaguar did it for quite a long time (and IIRC this is a Jag rear end on this car). I know certain (if not all) E-Types had that type of rear end/brake set up as well as some XJs. Not sure exactly when they started using them or when/if they stopped. The XJ rear end was a popular choice for hot rodders to use because it was a fairly cheap way to get an independent rear suspension.

Halibrand made a quick-change rear end with the brakes set up that was also very popular with drag racers because, as the name suggests, you could change gear ratios a lot quicker than a normal rear end (has nothing to do with the brake set up though). Im not sure if the Jag rear ends offered the same quick-change possibility or not.

I believe some de-Dion suspensions were set up the same way too. Im sure other companies/cars had the same setup at some point, but I can't think of them.

Man, great car, but kind of sad it not really a daily driver. Would of been much cooler. Reminds me, for years, I was wanting to get a SR20DET 510 daily driver, but realized that decent cars are way over priced, hard to find without rust or completely trashed, and part are really hard to find. Its a shame, I still want one, but seems like too much trouble.
