We've heard tell of the Wild Charge system that replenishes power in cellphones, PSPs, notebooks and iPods, and now we can confirm: It really works. We played with the system for a while tonight, putting the special cases on cellphones and attachments on iPods, and then suddenly those devices begin charging as soon as you place them on the metallic strip. How the heck does this thing work? It uses non-inductive technology to pass the current from strip to device without all that falderal you usually have to go through to charge it. The company says we'll be seeing the first charging strips for sale in March, and the larger laptop-sized charger will be shipping in June. This is the real deal, folks—get your $49 ready, and that includes one "enablement case." WTF, this was back in Jan 8th and I didn't see it. Well it is coming up on April now, and I still haven't heard anything.

This definitely would be a cool device.

What they really need to do is to improve the batteries in our current devices right now. It sucks because manufacture are demanding more and more power for their devices at the same time they want the battery to get smaller and smaller. Those two requirements just doesn't exactly go together.

i wouldnt like em very much thou .... whats the difference when you have to put it at one place when you have to do the same with a wired charger ...

I've heard about this technology years ago... You can see it in things like battery operated toothbrushes that have to be water proof. They charge through the plastic with out any open metal contacts.


The only thing that sucks about this thing is that you have to put the device in a special "case".

It's going to be nice when gadget manufactures make this feature built in to the devices.


Now we just have to get the Army to develop a user friendly high range wireless power delivery system so we can power our electronics from across the room.

well, it is not wireless. I mean Wireless does not mean EXACTLY without wire, but rather you can move around without a cord attached to it.

The device have to be Glued to that Zapping electronic sheet, you just hope it will not discharge to your brains....

The US Army has the technology to recharge tanks from satellites in orbit. Only bad part is that the driver would probably die instantly or from cancer later on.
