The1 6r4 is still a very fast rallycar today still competive whit the current wrc cars on national rally's(not wrc ofcourse).

Awesome video! I always thought the 6R4 was a great car and it sounds awesome with its 3.0L V6 with over 400bhp at 9000rpm!

I always liked the rally metro, it had an awesome engine! Same they put in the Jaguar XJ220 so I believe

You cannot blame the driver of the 307 because he was using the launch control. Push a button - press the accelerator - the revs are limited - release the break... and VROOOM! Easy.

Ok, the 307 wasn't the most competitive car either - but the Metro was worse comparatively. With the RS200, Quattro S1, Delta S4... the Metro was more like the Skoda Fabia of its time

Anyway, there's one crucial fact that is the power limitations. Nowadays, WRC cars are limited to 300hp... although most of the cars are slightly over that. Groups B rallycars were FREE basically, everything was possible... so that Metro may be has some good 200hp over the Peugeot... and that's why it's faster even despite the wheelspin

not to mention that the Metro should be also lighter, due to less strip safety measures

The metro 6r4 acked development.
And and the 6r4 was the last proper group b car.

I think peugot 307 wrc is not that fast on none graval rally's
Maby on gravel it's faster but at the end of the day it's all up the driver and co driver.
Some of these 6r4's have modern suspension bigger brakes and a stand alone ecu.

Hi guys, and naturally thanks for the video which Ive been watching it 6 times at least, and naturally for pleasure

Once more I agree with dani; its a big truth that the 307WRC was a bit difficult and strange to drive, but when accelerating its very easy; apart from the traction control, active differential and the joystick gearbox; it also has an independent program which only works when the car is launched which takes the clutch off authomatically in the right moment

However, despite every technological development thoroughout 20 years, the launch control program, the traction control, the better torque/power balance and so on; it doesnt make any miracle, the video is more than enough to see the difference; in the very start the 307 goes ahead due to the traction stuff that I said, and afterwards the metro is ahead due to the clearly better power/weight ratio

If anyone has got some doubts here we go the clue

approximately 529bhp/ton for the metro, and 230bhp/ton for the 307 although the pug has much more torque area in less revs

Finally some additional information

- If the metro embarrasses the 307 as the figure shows, I prefer not to see the difference between a Audi S1 (the most powerful and trickiest grB ever made so far) against a 07 Ford Focus WRC or a Citroen C4; and on the other hand, the 307 WRCs level was much better than the Fabia WRC today or the Metro´s in 1986

- Its a big truth that the metro had a similar level to the Fabia WRC today, but it wasnt the worst car; the BX 4TC was the slowest, the less reliable, the less balanced and so on

- Finally, the metro´s engine is a V6 from Jaguar, and exactly the same engine as the XJ220 except the turbos

However, and of course, its possible that the metro has been improved, or modified, but I dont think that its acceleration will be much better since mostly the acceleration depends on power/weight ratio, and the test was made in dry tarmac in good conditions; its another story if we talk about the equivalent test on gravel, on wet, a track lap time instead of acceleration, and so on

And don't forget another thing ... is this an oficial 307? Does this 307 has the goodies of an oficial car? When a oficial car passes to private sometimes some "extras" are remove. But still... it was nice to see

I have heard 6r4's that run a 3,5 litre v6 with 485 hp.
And rather have the 6r4 than a boring peugot wrc car.
