Did they manage to actually run any apps? Maybe encode a vidoe or render an 3DMax drawing -- something actually useful.. of course thats assuming the box would stay up long enough

Yeh, this is more about the hobby of getting the biggest overclocks as he is using LN2 with a heavily modified mobo and a golden chip etc, still 8 GHZ is one hell of an achievement (if you are into the hobby) even if it only lasts long enough to get a screen grab.
