Barrett-Jackson Phoenix 2007
I'm going to the big Barrett-Jackson car auction in Phoenix tommorrow is there anything anybody wants to see. Shelby's personal Cobra, The last Stingray (RC?), or something more like this.
Let me know, if its there I'll photo it.

Very nice 917 K, I like so much this racecar...for sure we want high-res pix of it.
This Porsche 917 with the number 20 was driven by Siffert and Redman or driven by Steve McQueen in the famous movie 'Le Mans'.

The photo was from last year. Barrett-Jackson is sort of a free for all, its buyer beware, although advertised as the real deal from the movie with Steve, fine print said it was a recreation, not a real Porsche after all, a fancey kit car. It still sold for 187,000 dollars. Real pretty but only a 350hp 911 engine.

Well we would need chassis #'s to be sure who really drove it. Too bad none of these guys did since it was a fake.

I can't wait to see the pictures from the event. I watched some of it on Speed last night and it looks like so much fun.

I watched the Cobra sell for $5,000,000 and the Last Sting Ray sell for $600,000 on Speed Channel.

I'm back, it will take a while to get the pictures up. There was a 956 but it was in two pieces so youll have to use your imagination. The sale of the Cobra for 5 million was electric got picks of ol'Shel and got picks of the car. Not much Italian tons of American muscle cars. In fact a black Lingenfelter Covette was for sale too.
Quite a car fest.

<3 Firebird Trans Am. I think a 70-73 TA in my driveway would look very nice next to my 79.
Did you by any chance see all of those gravity racers go across the block?

The blue paint on Carol Shelby's Cobra looks amazing.. Any chance that you got a better shot of it?

Yes, now that I'm back why didn't I photo the gravity racers especially since they were very cool.
I have more photos of the cars. Unfortunatly for the 956 (962?) it was in pieces. I should have photoed the overall car but I didnt. So you'll just see pieces of the car which does not do it justice.
It was pretty wild after the Shelby car sold. All the photos were taken just before and just after the sale. Flashes only work so far. It was at night outside the tent. I wasn't invited by ol'Shel to go up on to the auction block with him so it was the best I could get. I had the camera on fill in flash so it held the exposure open so I could get more distance out of the flash, but you have to hold the camera steady. I was being jostled by everyone it was wild afterwords. It was as I said "Electric".
I knew where to wait for Carol afterwards and I got the back of a security guard or two, but I did get his picture. Its not very good, but I doubt if I will get another chance.
I'll try to post them tonight.
