Default Jerez: The new Williams on top!

Jerez: the new Williams on top !
Impressive result by Juan Pablo Montoya

The new FW26 starts its "career" on a high note
he new Williams FW26 was the fastest car today in Jerez. Juan Pablo Montoya is close the track record held by a McLaren MP4-19 (1´16"210) and the Colombian improves his own best time at this circuit.

This result is very encouraging for Williams, since the Grove-based team had only done a few laps since the car´s launch on Monday.

Ferrari were also running today but their performance was rather discreet. McLaren will start testing tomorrow and BAR should arrive on Friday.

Jerez - 07/01/04
1. J.P. Montoya Williams-BMW FW26 1´16"630 51 laps
2. R. Zonta Toyota TF103 1´17"984 72 laps
3. J. Trulli Renault R23 1´18"092 99 laps
4. M. Gene Williams-BMW FW25 1´18"099 41 laps
5. F. Montagny Renault R23 1´18"424 90 laps
6. F. Massa Ferrari F2003-GA 1´19"002 60 laps
7. L. Badoer Ferrari F2003-GA 1´19"207 60 laps
8. O. Panis Toyota TF103 1´19"377 47 laps

But remember, Schumi didn't drive, and it's the old Ferrari - probably with a new engine though. Marc Genè's performance looks good as well, but he's in the old Williams, probably with the new engine for him as well (BMW.WilliamsF1 has tested with the old car and new engine during the last months).

Either way an encouraging start for the BMW.WilliamsF1 Team!

Well i have to say i always keep my fingers crossed for Williams F1 team. I like montoya, i guess it´s the fastest driver on the F1. Webber is too fast too, and others, but i like montoya´s reckless driving techniques. And this new front wing will make Williams more competitive, i hope since the Australian grand prix. Well, let´s wait to see!!

Except that it is one of the ugliest cars on the track. All of these testing is kind of funny. A team could run really well one day but suck the next. Teams switch the top spots all the time now. Two days ago, BAR dominated at Spain, and today Renault was significantly faster.

All I gotta say is, "We'll see at Melbourne".

Yes its true that the fw26 is fast, it also proved that when Antonio Pizzonia held the fastest time at valencia, testing is not as important as tha actual race so just wait for melbourne
