RC, Steve and I got together today. The plan was to go on a backroads drive, find some choice spots, whip out the video camera and take some clips of all three cars.
The threat of being done in by a sniper commissioned by the Crazy JW Russian from Prague was hanging heavy on our minds. Unfortunately the man upstairs wasn't in a good mood and sent buckets of rain down, slickening up the roads and pretty much killing all photo/video shoots opportunities. The temps were in 40-50f range - not condusive to high RPMs/low gears.
To make the most of it, we went on a drive at moderate speeds. I got the tail out two times - it was FUN. It is possible to get sideways in the first two gears with injudicious throttle usage This was a new experience to me after the good old S4 which resolutely held its path whatever the throttle position. The long throttle pedal int he 348 makes it easy to progressively feed in the power - I had to really jump on it to get the tail out.

I proved that contrary to popular belief, Ferraris dont dissolve in the rain. I also was happy to note that my roof was watertight - not a drop sneaked - until I had the bright idea to leave a window cracked open when parking the car :roll:

I bought the 348 during Thanksgiving. It is a blast - minimal electronics, simple car but with lots of soul.

Good point - we had a perfect mix of cars - rear engine, mid engine and front engine. The corvette is more front mid-engine though. All the cars make different sounds - have the gruff V8 in the Vette, the high pitched Ferrari and the turbine like Porker. Lovely!

I really wanted to check the integrity of my roof seals - 348s are known to be leaky in wet conditions. Also the glass bonnet was a question mark in my mind - will the rubber seals around it keep the water away from the engine block? I am happy to report that my car passed with flying colors

Seems like you guys had a great time even though the weather wasn't nice. It's good to know these cars are also driven in less favourable conditions. I love the rolling pics!

The interior of your 348 looks in perfect condition, judging from this pic. I don't think many 348's are in this good shape!
