Kursk Conspiracy
Don't know if this has been posted before, but anyways the brief outline below describes an alternative theory to what happend...
Film: Kursk: a Submarine in Troubled Waters
Koursk: un sous-marin en eaux troubles, which aired on 7 January 2005 on French TV channel France 2, alleged that Kursk sank because of an exchange triggered by the collision with the US submarine USS Toledo. According to Carré, the Kursk was performing tests of a new torpedo called Shkval and the tests were being observed by two US submarines on duty in the region, the USS Toledo and USS Memphis.
At some point, the Kursk and the Toledo collided, damaging the latter (video footage shows long gashes carved in the side of the Kursk) and, in order to prevent the Kursk firing upon the Toledo (allegedly presaged by the audible opening of the Kursk's torpedo tubes), the Memphis fired a Mark 48 torpedo into the Russian submarine.

I saw a documentary made by CBC, and actually they were saying that Shkval exploded
when they tried to launch it at a target.
I would say that it`s totall bullshit, IF an american submarine would sink a russian one it would be a classic case of casus belli.
And I doubt that "curiosity" would push the two american Los Angeles class subs, so close to a russian exercise.
Anybody heard/read some other theories ?
BTW Max can you upload the whole movie ?

Me too, I have serious doubt about this "French theory" about what sunk the Kurks submarine. The Kursk an Akula class (Typhoon) type 949A nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine (SSGN) is built around three concentric cylinder (multi-hulled) and is designed to resist from the assault of several conventional torpedo hits.
I remain with the version of an accident around the handling by Russian navy of the famous "bubble gas" torpedo named Shkval. It's true the US Navy was in the sector to observe the Russian Navy maneuvers, but they are not responsible. In more they offered their assistance to the Russian government which has refused any International help during several days.
BTW, I am very interested to see this French theory video. Merci à l'avance !

schwalbe is right, there is undeniable documented evidence...
It is my understanding that the russian people (families of those who died) don't trust the story, however... but this is a very different russia then it used to be.
since i don't speak more then 10 words of french, i shall pass, thanks for the offer tho.

I've heard of this theory, and don't believe it. It sounds plausible in theory, but given the post Cold War political climate, you would think Russia and the US would not be engaging in acts of war against each other.

Like several JW people, I very like all about military contents. I'm happy to see the first video from the reborn "Conspiracy theory" topic it's about a military issue. Thanks a lot Max Power for this one. :good:

It's cool, I'll just wiki it.
I'm downloading a vid called "Secret societies" done by the history channel. If I get it I'll try to upload it.
