i didnt' own a playstation until I could pick up a new PS2 for under $100; and also until there was a game worth buying it over... (GT4) which saw me also buy the DFP for 40$ under MSRP new.
I didn't buy my xbox until i found one for 68$ brand new; but i had already about 8 games by the time i bought it (roommates had an xbox)
Game Cube, i bought for 80$ new, and bought it soley for Zelda: The windwaker; but have about 3 or 4 games for it
friends of mine bought the PS2, and continued playing thier PS1 games for years w/out the hassle of carrying along a second system. Honestly, that is an important thing.
but ultimately, the name of my game... why pay full price when you can buy brand new with years left of life for much less?
computers are the ONLY thing worth getting/building when they first come out.
also, the only video game system i bought on launch was the Nintendo 64... super mario 64 baby! and a few other fun games back then. LOL, my gamecube was 120$ less then my N64, my Xb0x was 140$ less then my N64, and my PS2 was over 100$ less then my N64. Interesting comparison
