Where to stay in LA?
I need a little help with choosing the right location to stay in LA for just 2 days.
What would be a good location considering: - It should be in a nice part of LA or surrounding areas
- LAX should be easily accessible by taxi or public transport (what I mean is that I must be able to be at the airport in max 30 to 40 min on a Sunday)
- It shouldn't be too far from the tourist attractions
Anyone who has any suggestions?

Not sure what your budget is, but The Fairmont Miramar and The Georgian are pretty nice, with The Fairmont being the nicer of the two (I think).

I was actually looking for some interesting areas, but hotel suggestions are welcome as well Thanks for your help so far, guys!

In The Georgian only the real expensive rooms are still available. And when adding the local tax (how much is it?) the Fairmont will also become over budget.
So as interesting areas we have:
- Santa Monica
- Hollywood
How about Marina Del Rey and Manhattan Beach?
Are there any car events going on in LA the weekend of Oct 28th, 29th?

I believe LA County tax is 8.25%.
You might also want to check out "The W Hotel". Those are nice and targeted at the younger crowd.

Manhattan Beach is my hometown Lived there from birth until I was 18. My parents still live there, but it has gotten so trendy and upscale lately its like a mini Beverly Hills in the making. Though its nice and filled with tons of hot chicks, Manhattan is also quickly becomming over filled with trend concious jerk offs that think they run the place.
Hermosa Beach borders Manhattan and is more of a "youth" town. Lots of bars and girls. Redondo Beach, where I live, is nice too. It borders the two cities, but Hermosa and Manhattan definitely get more attention although King Harbor in Redondo is a nice place to visit with lots of restaurants and stuff to do.
Marina Del Rey is nice also. I lived there for about 2-3 years and its a nice quiet town, but not a whole lot to do. If you do go to Marina and want to go to a different kind of bar, Brennans is nice. Thursday nights feature the turtle races, which is entertaining and a good place to see hot girls bend over and show their ass. http://www.brennanspub-la.com/
Venice Beach is right next to Marina, and is always fun to check out for its odd people, tattoo/piercing shops, bong shops, etc.
Both areas are still close to LAX but you wont see a whole lot of car show activity. There are nice cars floating around, but nothing like a Crystal Cove type of meet, as far as I know.
I guess it really depends on what you want to see/do. Would you rather see the Hollywood type stuff or go to the beach?

Thanks for all the advise guys. I made a reservation in Santa Monica.
On Firday I prolly rent a car and go for a drive along the coast. Any suggestions of scenic routes I should take, and places I should definitely visit?

Well, since your gonna be in Santa Monica, I would suggest driving North up PCH. Its a nice coastal route that will take to up towards Malibu and also take you past some pretty nice canyon roads along the way like Mulholland (Rock Store is up there and you can also drive the road James Dean died on) Kanan Rd and Topanga Cyn to name a couple. Make sure you get a decent car if you want to tackle some of those roads though, they cant get kinda tricky and take a map so if you go exploring, you wont get lost.
Just dont drive up PCH when everyone else will be going to or coming from work or lunch, traffic will be terrible. 10 am or anytime past 7pm should be ok.

Take the PCH north to 'Neptune's Net' (It's a restaurant). Make a right, and take Yerba Buena road. Make a pit stop at the top at Circle X ranch. pull back out, keep going. You'll hit a road (I forget the name), make a right. Take that road back down to PCH. Make a left onto PCH, head back south to go home.

I may be free sometime Saturday afternoon. Have you decided what your agenda is going to be?

I may be free, my Mom had surgery yesterday so she is still recovering and I have 2 soccer games this weekend, one Sat and one Sun. I think, but im not sure, that my game is early Sat morning, ill know tomorrow. It would be nice to at least meet up for a beer or coffee or some shit seeing as you normally live halfway around the world.

On Saturday I prolly go to the Universal Studios to have the Studio Tour. I'm not really interested in the theme parc attractions. But I've no idea how long this tour will take.
