my contact in MTM told me....new RS6 and R8 V10 info
Hello,
It happened beginning of this week so the news are very hot....
First, my little finger learned the RS6 will have twin turbo V10 engine. That's for sure and obvious for everybody. The power range will be 520-550 hp but it will be very torquey engine.
My little finger then found out a new V10 is being developped for minimun 550hp. This will be for the next Gallardo and .......... for the R8. Yes, yes the R8. And the R8 will not received the Twin Turbo V10, neither V12TDI. At least not planned yet.
As for the R8, huge success in Germany. All the R8 for this country were sold in
1 day ! ! ! !
Regarding the V12, the Q7 V12 TDI is actually a big story around Ingolstadt because there is no engine and no gearbox ready yet...... But on the V12 TDI area, Audi Sport is working really hard to be a problem for Peugeot at the next Le Mans.....
My little finger should travel soon again in the beautifull land of Bavaria.....
Cheers,
XXXXXXX

Yes my favorite car of ALL times, the RS6 is finally getting somewhere... 550 bhp V10, could this be any better?
Just hope the styling gets done properly too!
And btw, R8 or Gallardo, what would you choose? V10 in both....

No doubt that a 550bhp twin turbo V10 RS6 will kick ass. Yet I'm not so impressed by the figures. Even if the engine is very "torquey" it basically has the same output as the 63 AMG and the M5 and they are both NA engines. The gap between the the S6 and RS6 seems to be to small. But hey this is just my two cents.

just crazy when people say "only" 550 bhp!
But I understand, two turbos should give some more 'oomph' right?
I wanna know the tourqe, Nm, before I complain about the horsepower issue.

No matter what people say it's NOT the same V10 in the Gallardo even if they share the same basis.

I'm surprised there no "show me the official Audi letterhead talking about all this or STFU! Haha.
That pretty damn cool news. I wish I had the money for these types of cars. Trickle down technology just doesn't cut if for me. I want the V10 twin turbo....damn it!

In a couple of year (maybe less then a year) the V10 in the M5 will be at 550hp to put it back up with the Audi. I really think this V10 TT in the RS6 is severly undertuned. They're holding back on the PSI so that later models can get more power out of the same engine without putting more money into RD for a new engine. I assure you that a year after it comes out there will at least be 600hp coming from the same engine from the factory. Don't we all remember the RS6+? And as mrmojo said, an easy chip and exhaust will bring the power up to 600hp, so whats the worry?

So I guess 500hp-600hp for family sedans will be the norm now . Supercars will definitely need to be in the 700hp-800hp range.

500+ hp is insane! any news when that RS6 will come up? BTW, by next Gallardo from your statement, does that only mean a mid-life refreshening/update or a completely new model which should go by another name?

telemetry data has shown some interesting things with cars that have similar cornering abilities, and similar Power to weight ratios
... a peaky engine vs. a engine tuned for more torque... the torque wins out each time.
HP sells cars, torque wins races...
