Well guys, after three years with my SRT, I'm throwing in the towel. I've put 20k on top of the price of the car, and I'm moving on. I want to reinvest the money I get from the car. Maybe one day I can get a good one...

Well that sucks because you are not going to get anywhere near all that money back. but that is the trouble behind modding a car you never get a return in the wallet. hell I'm taking a huge hit selling my T-bird right now.

Oh - and $25,000 will buy a 2001 C5 Z06 at the moment... hihger miles ok condition, or about $30,000 lower miles.

There are 200mph capable modded C5's for sale for less than $30,000 as well

But anyway, to each their own - if you have the place, funds and need for a single use uber-modded car, then thats the way to go

Don't envy us that much. I have seen awesome prices for used exotics in the UK. The new cars are ridiculously expensive there but once used, the prices are really reasonable.

Look at the Ferrari 355 for instance. In the US, a decent well-serviced coupe sells for about $75,000 while the same will be available for $50,000 in UK. The service is ridiculously expensive here - basically a bend over and open wide scenario here. Service is cheap there.

But I guess it all evens out somewhere else - fuel prices, insurance, taxes ....

that's like my truck I plan on driving it into the ground so I am putting money into it to make it more fun offroad and on-road. I schooled my buddies RX-8 and that made him very mad. I'm still paying off the work on the T-bird and trying to sell that then we'll see what's up next. sadly most of what we get in at work are 3 year old luxury cars. we've had a C5 & C6 drop top 6-speeds, and 2 05 mustangs one auto one manual, a G35 coupe auto and a 350Z 6-speed, all sold before employee's could buy them.

Yeap. It sucks bigtime, but you live you learn, and I'm putting this and about 10k I already have right back in the stock portfolio/mutual fund. I figure if I start off now I can have a good car in a few years.

I saw the C5 Z06's for about 35k, most are low mileage gauge posts on ebay. The normal C5's are even cheaper though. 24k for a 28k mile Black on black--which is obviously the best color. And the good thing about a C5 is it isn't a neon...

As for a 200mph RX-7 that 25k sounds really really generous. It took that much money to get an SRT-4 into the tens.

Just out of curiousity? Why didn't you get a used car with some decent specs and saved up those 3 years to be here today showing us pics of maybe a used C5 Z06 with low miles and something worth keeping?

$11,000 will get you a 200mph bike and 9 sec flat in the quarter , stock ...... just sayin. wouldn't mind having a Z06 though, that'd be way cool.

well I need to find something with good gase mileage to drive 60 miles a day so I might end up with an Integra GSR which I would make fast without going to the rice. Probably in a year or so I will do a REAL muscle buildup on either a 99-04 Mustang or LS1 camaro platform due to the fact in a few years they will be dirt cheap to pick up and just as cheap to work on. I like the LS1's because they are already horsepower monsters but they are a pain to work on in the F-bodies. Mustangs I have experience with already and they are alot easier to work on room wise. They both have positives and negatives we'll see soon enough.

Old wounds as it were, but here goes.

I made the money off ASKJ, if you look at their stock from back in the day you'll see how. At the time I bought the car the money was mine but I was under the guidance of my parents. They refused to let me buy a used C5 or a Cobra, and ain't life grand, it would've been cheaper anyway.

They were only trying to do what's best so I have no animosity. I just made bad choices, you know? You live you learn, and I'm going to try to unload this thing and get some money into the stocks. Right now's a buyer's market anyway, everything is tanking. Summer's typically a low point in the economic cycle anyway.
