Saturn aims to make dealerships like Apple Store
If there's one thing Saturn has an especially good reputation for, it's customer service and friendly dealers. Accordingly, General Motors is hoping to further strengthen that image by giving its dealerships a massive makeover. General Manager Jill Lajdziak said that the changes will give Saturn showrooms a "more contemporary, more interactive look and feel – like an Apple store."
According to GlobalAuto Systems, one component that should be a hit with customers is the planned installation of the Saturn "Sky Dome" in showrooms.
"Showgoers stepped into a domed room with pictures of the sky flashing on the ceiling and a silver Saturn Sky roadster in the middle of the floor," explains analyst Anita Lienert. "After pressing a button on the kiosk near the vehicle to call up features ranging from engine to safety, a series of computerized projectors beamed images onto the car’s exterior. The setup basically enabled consumers to get a look inside the vehicle in a virtual way, without using the primitive cut-away vehicles that populate older displays."
Saturn is also said to be courting celebrities — everyone from Howard Stern to Cheryl Tiegs — to spread the word about its latest products, the report said. Stern recently held a party in the Hamptons to preview the Sky, and Tiegs was given a new Vue Red Line to build buzz.

I hate Apple and have never been a fan of Saturn. I do have respect for the VUE because it has a Honda V6 and I’m very glad to see GM come out with the sky/solstice. It’s about time we get an affordable American roadster that is RWD!
But anyone that would choose to buy a car because of the way the showroom looks would have to be pretty stupid and not very into cars in the first place! Kind of like the people that buy Apple computers!! lol

While a nice attractive showroom might not get people to actually buy the cars, it will get more people into the dealer, thus creating more potential buyers. I know when I'm faced with say, a Radio Shack (or whatever it is now), or the Sony Store, I'll go to the Sony Store first just because it's a much more pleasant place to be. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a place where the people know what they're doing (regardless of whether they do or not), and that's definitely the feeling you want to give consumers when they're looking at your product.
I think it's a good move personally. An attractive, modern, and innovative showroom, combined with Saturn's customer service, seems like it could be quite a potent combination for pushing the revamped Saturn brand.

What's Saturn planning to do put in more ethically-diverse & gay/lesbian sales staff? Apple Store store staff are largly made up of iPod-obsessed boneheads.

Um, what? They're talking about aesthetics, as in interior design and the overall modern style of the dealership.

nickthaskater just speculation seeming they want the "Apple Store look" they may go all the way and also hire "Apple Store" sales teams/staff.
My brother, dad & friends observed the very same thing (largely homosexual & ethinically diverse sales staff) but if you put the question on any politically-correct Mac User Group and they'll give you hell. This is just my speculation from people's observation, that Apple knows a lot of their customers are gay so they put in the gay staff to make sales easier.
I didnt know you got good service by the gay staff of an Apple Store, SFDMALEX. How was it?
Now just a reminder there isnt anything bad being gay so long as they aint gay over me.

What an intelligent post... 'I can tell a gay when I see one', sure you can buddy.
And since when does a person's sexual orientation determine the quality of service they'll be able to provide you?

ahhh?
Sure I can, my sisters has many gay friends, my best friends cousin is gay, and there is a clear difference between a bisexual/gay and a heterosexual.
How they speak, how they behave many things...I live in Toronto, the gayest city next to San Francisco.
I guess you guys there smoke to much of that BC bud to be able to recongnize differences like that.

Not every gay person talks in the stereotypical way, or dresses like a metrosexual, or flips their wrist when talking. Liking the same sex doesn't automatically make you act like that.
And anyways, this thread is about a fucking Saturn dealership, not gay people working at the Apple store.

I personally have never been in an Apple store. And I can’t think of any reason I ever would in the future.
