Average work days are 8 hours long in Switzerland, not counting lunch break. So with a 1 hour lunch at noon, you'll work from 9 to 6, or 5 to 8... whatever time you come to work.
Vacation time is quite often 5 weeks, but this is nothing compared to what they offer in France, where vacation time is like 8 weeks for my colleagues, and they only need to work like 35 hours a day.
eh, vive la revolution! lol
They don't get paid as much as I do however.
I don't take a lot of vacation, which is why I've accumulated them over the years. Right now I have like 40 days of vacation which I "should" take, but I don't really have the time. I also usually work closer to 9-10 hours a day not counting other overtime which I might spend doing some troubleshooting at night, weekends, or during business trips where I easily work roughly 80-100 hours a week...
Unfortunately my company is reluctant to pay for overtime (so far I've managed to convince them

), and I'd much rather they give me my vacation days in cash. I'm only planning to take one vacation trip (2 and a half weeks) this summer, so what the heck am I gonna do with the other +20 days?
Oh well...
