Hmmm...monstrous power put onto a good chassis, but wearing a pretty boring suit by now. The face lift hasn't given it anything, the rear lights look like they came off the european Toyota Corolla

meh, does not excite me at all. the fact that it is auto-only is a major turnoff, especially when bmw is making its cars with manuals still (and if you say the m5 and m6 are SMG-only, they're developing manual versions)

Just beautiful, I love the E-Class! Thank goodness for a M5 competitor, I was never a big fan of it.

A few exterior changes make it look a bit better but it doesn't excite me at all.Imo a sports saloon should have a manual or a sequential gearbox which i even prefer from a manual, although its rarely appreciated by the press. Easily accessible monstrous power provided by the MB by just pressing the acceleration pedal is probably preferred by a big share of the intended customers and a softer ride is easier to live with on an everyday basis. It is nice that alternatives exist for different tastes but the M5 is the only truly exciting four door saloon in accordance with my tastes.

Looks great and the 514 hp engine. sounds like they have mad a great car. But still i would take the new M5 over this merc anyday.
We will see how it will handle in corners, the merc wera almost always fat straight line rockets.

Most powerful E-Class of all time
This is obviously a nice car.
But people that can afford these cars
and actually buy are lucky

I guess in a way the M5 and the E63 are aimed at different clientels. An M5 driver wouldn't buy an E class and vice versa. To a certain degree anyway. An M5 would be an alternate to a Porsche with more practicality whereas the E63 would be grand tourer with more space and stealth looks.
Nevertheless, it's still amazing see this horsepower race. I'd be happy to have any one of them.

Looks pretty much the same, but the rims seem a little small for the body.
They also finally put a 7-speed in one of their higher performance cars. I was wondering when that was going to happen.

Thanks
