It looks pretty nice, the taillights remind me of a S2000. But Toyota expects to outsell the 350Z by bringing in a 40k car?? The 350Z starts at around 27k, that's a 13k difference! Good luck to them! I would never spend 40k on a Toyota, i'd rather buy myself the IS350(yes it's still a Toyota, but it is more upscale) or 330i.

This is a nice design - pays homage to the previous SUpra.. 
Zot... when last have you walked through a Nissan dealership and seen how few 350Z's are around $30K... most seem to be $36-$39K - with many in the $40 to $42K range with options.
The 350Z is no longer a cheap car.

And the next gen Z will be more expensive with its V-8 up front, the Supra will be price competetive and easily performance competetive.

Oh I completely agree that with options, the Z will deffinitly get in the high 30k range, and the fully loaded convertible version will bring the cost over 40k. My point was just that the Z starts at a pretty "cheap" price, and that it might be a little difficult to compare a car with the base price of 27k to a car with the base price of 40k.

The base Z started at $27k, with the Track at close to $35k, back in 2002 (Car and Driver review I just happen to have). I don't think the Supra will have $13k of options.

We are currently in 2006, and you cannot find a "$27K" 350Z around these parts.
Had the Supra been released in 2002 it might have also been $10K cheaper.

Good point RC. But I still forsee that more Z's will be sold just based on the fact that it is cheaper(whether it be only a 4k or 13k difference)
EDIT: Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I cannot wait for another Supra and I really hope it does well!

No, they learned they lesson trying to sell the Toyota Supra for $40k here in the US. They will have Lexus sell their $100k V10 Supercar..

Hmm.. interesting.
It would make more sense for them to just sell the Lexus SC (to charge more from the branding)
The SC was loosely based on the Supra, it had the same drivetrain..
But I feel like Toyota would want to have a mid priced sports car to fight off the likes of a new RX-7, the 350z, EVO's and WRX's..

god damnit.. that's the only reason why I like Honda as a company more than Toyota.. although they are both corporations.. Toyota seems to cater towards making money more than making real nice cars to drive with out having to milk the community for money.
Sigh. I guess they wont be making a new Hachi Roku anytime soon..
