error when submitting form on the web

When trying to register for a site and i have to enter my desired details, then click sign up, nothing happens for a while, then i get the error message "MySQL server has gone away".

What does this mean, and will anything be different if i try again in a few hours (this is a website tha can't afford to have problems)??

try restarting, then registering again
SQL ought to be in your startup background... if somehow you ended that task, then that problme could occur is my guess
