The deputy thought he was playing with him. The deputy's aggrevation grew when another man who was standing there vouched for him as being the driver of the M-5. The deputy then asked the man who he was and did he see the accident. The man advised the deputy that he was the passenger of the M-5. Neither of the men had a scratch on them. Our client is bragging to everyone he meets as to the engineering abilities that his BMW has that kept them safe.

Although, I don't doubt a BMW's safety- I think this one has more to do with luck than anything. He needs to take something like this a little more serious.

i know the wreck isn't funny, but one of my coworkers just returned from M5 class. One of his buddies in Texas sent him that picture and he had it taped to his toolbox yesterday

BMW does alot of testing to make sure the passener compartment retains it's shape and rigidity in wrecks like this. Some of you may remember the E39 M5 that hammered the X5 that thamar posted some months ago and how, with exception of the jaws of life, the M5's compartment was still intact for the most part. and the X5's compartment wasn't deformed at all.

I think they both have alot to owe to the side curtain airbags as well as their seatbelts. Had they not been wearing them, they would have been fucked. No question.

It's good to know some companies (especially German ones) go that extra step to ensure their cars keep the occupants safe.

Aw seeing the M5 like that makes me want to cry

Very impressed the passenger compartment, esp the roof, held up so well. That looks like one hell of a roll
