Default James Bond to drive new Aston Martin DBS ??

Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond in the film, which is due to be released in November 2006 by MGM/Sony, visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday to view the featured car. While there he met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, and members of the workforce and also took the opportunity to take a short test drive.

In the true tradition of Bond, full details of the car to be used in ‘CASINO ROYALE’ are being kept top secret but the company did confirm that it would be a new model called the Aston Martin DBS.

Dr Ulrich Bez said: "It is great news that Bond will drive an Aston Martin again and we have built him something special to enable him to do his job in style."

The association with the marque began in 1964 with the film ‘Goldfinger’ when the DB5 was fitted with ‘optional extras’ such as ejector seats and rockets. The last Bond film, ‘Die Another Day’, featured Aston Martin’s flagship model, the Vanquish.
Apparently a sepcial Aston Martin is being prepared for the upcoming movie called "Casino Royal" staring Daniel Craig. So far only one picture is available and it's a simple sketch:

I wonder if this is just a one timer or if it's a new model. If it's the second option...it would be pretty stupid for a company to have 4 two-door coupes in it's line up.

The info is a repost ...

But yes i think its pretty stupid ... but you have the v8 vantage as the sports coupe , the db9 as the grand tourer ... and the vanquish another grandtourer but more extreme .

I bet the DBS will be the vanquish replacement ...

Aston Martin DBS - First Look
20th February 2006

James Bond fans will have to wait until November 17th 2006 to see the car in its full glory with 007 behind the wheel in "Casino Royale", but the first sneak peaks of the new Aston Martin DBS have appeared today.

Details of the gadgets featured in the car are being kept under close wraps - but MI6 can confirm that they all reside inside the car, and are not the usual pop-up machine guns or rocket launchers. Despite the car featuring MI6 technology, Q will not appear in the film.

Last month, Aston Martin confirmed that Daniel Craig visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday 13th January to view the featured car. While there he met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, and members of the workforce and also took the opportunity to take a short test drive.

Dr Ulrich Bez said: “It is great news that Bond will drive an Aston Martin again and we have built him something special to enable him to do his job in style.”

what if its a db9 S ???
theres the Vanquish S, so DB9 S seems logical, DB9+S = DBS

If it's going ot look anywhere like this than I'm awfully dissapointed. I understand that the current design scheme is very stylish but they are going over the top, they should be a bit more innovative and not expect to be able to copy the same design till the end of time. The concept drawing looked so promising...

I think this is just some magazines photoshop interpretation of what it might look like based on the side view sketch, so i don't think its anything to worry about.

And bmagni, I think you might be right about the car being a DB9 S version, or I think it even might be a vantage S version. Since the lead designer Henrik Fisker who was responsible for the DB9 and the Vantage has left Aston, I don't think they are in a hurry to redesign their flagship models. But I guess we will find out soon.

Not far away from that...

JAMES Bond is to become a MONDEO MAN.

Agent 007, usually seen in an Aston Martin loaded with gadgets, will drive the Ford in new movie Casino Royale.

The car makers paid movie chiefs nearly £14MILLION to get their car used by Bond.

It means new 007 Daniel Craig will test his licence to kill in a £22,000 Mondeo, popular with salesmen — not spies.

An insider said: “It’s a huge deal, worth far more than the £2million Daniel is getting. Moviegoers will see Bond using the car for chases and picking up girls.”

The Mondeo being used for chase scenes in the Bahamas is a souped-up 140mph model.

Craig, 38 yesterday, drives only automatics — so the car had to be modified.

It is one of many headaches he has given Bond bosses.

He got sunburn while filming, he doesn’t like guns and speedboats make him queasy. He also lost two teeth in a fight scene.

The Aston Martin hasn’t been totally ditched, however. Craig will also be driving a new model.

Well since the side view sketch looks exactly like every late aston...I wouldn't be surprised if it looked the same...

but a DB9 S or Vantage S sounds more likely than a whole new car...

I don't like the look of that thing. It seems like they thought, lets use the same road as Ferrari and Lamborghini have. Ferrari with the 430, which is IMO a restyled and more radical 360. And the new lambo Murcielago 640, which is also a pimped version of the basic car.

Aston Martins are a different breed however. They shouldn't be pimped or have a dozen spoilers on them.

I think its an improvment on an already beautiful design. I like it a lot, but then again, I like all Astons but the DBAR1
