Default new christmas light"show" in Zürich

Last night I went to see the newly installed light-art called "The World’s Largest Timepiece" ,

~250'000 LED lights , mounted into 275 bars of 7m length along the 1.1km long street

first a picture from the old decoration, tousands of small lightbulbs covered the "sky" above the street.

The new light-decoration along the famous shopping street "Bahnhofsstrasse" (one of the most expensive places in the world, lots of jewelleries, banks, fashion stors and chocolate shops) in Zürich caused a lot of discussion, because most people don't like it --

IMO it's a great illumination-art, but too "cold" for a christmas decoration

I started at the beginning of the Bahnhofstrasse, close to the Main Station

the light-show generate different effects

here's a press picture (reduzed size to 1600x1600)

for more HI-RES, visit the page
http://www.bahnhofstrasse-zuerich.ch..._presse_d.html

one of the side streets still has a traditional lightdecoration , found a MB ML? and a RS4 parked

.

Call me old and crotchity, but what a waste of money..
Could be worse... My neighbors have a 6 foot snow globe and a fake sleigh and reindeer... They put up a 6 foot inflatable easter bunny in april...

There was a time when I loved this sort of stuff.. But nowadays I usually windup thinking its gone too far.

This new light-decoration is very modern art, but for Christmas I prefer the traditional light decoration like this one:

Thanks stmoritzer for the X-mas RS4 pix.
