Bonhams Ferrari sale: F40 LM, 288GTO, 250GT TDF... 66 pics

I waited the last 12 months for this event to repeat itself! The Ferrari sale in Gstaad is something magical. Deep in the Alps in winter, an unlikely place to find such cars.. again it was snowing like in 2004, again the trip was just magical, again there were marvellous car and an athmosphere I never found elsewhere. Droool!
Not many cars, barely 30 I guess, but you can be so intimate with them. You can open most of them to take a look inside, and I can sweat that popping open an F40 LM, one of the few real ones around this planet is such a moment!
Anyway, just enjoy the pics, not many of them because many angles were just impossible, and I was in such a rush that I now realize that I got 3 F40 pics (and there were two F40), 3 Dino pics (and there were two Dino), 4 288 GTO (and there were two 288...), what a loony, but some of the ones I brought back should be ok.
It was the first time I was using my 350D inside on a tripod and it's so painfull compared to the Pro 1 with its rotating LCD next buy will be the little button you can plug in and use to remotely shoot, so you can avoid using the timer which, beeing 10 seconds on the 350D and impossible to make shorter, is very hard to use since in 10 seconds many ppl can step in front of the car. Also of course I got some problems with the settings at time, and the standard 18-55 is really crap as far as quality goes. I often read ppl on the net saying it is ok, but frankly, even my "cheap" 90-300 is much better. Sadly beeing so cramped I could only take two pics at 90mm the Barchetta's ass and the LM hiding behind the Dinos..
Lastly, the light is a bit on the cold side, I admit I could have set the white balance better, but still good I hope

This Daytona Spider is not one of the few "real" ones but a later conversion, but when conversions are for sale in Gstaad it means they are the best money can buy


What about this 250GT Tour de France? If it will seel tomorrow it will most likely be the one going for the higher price! Just amazing!


There were a couple of 330GTC, while the 2+2 is kinda common, it's pretty rare the GTC around

275 NART Spyder, again a conversion, again a perfect one, estimated value above 1 milion Swiss francs. Another car that was really stressing to pop open think if you brake the handle someway

And the lady, the one I really wanted to see, my first real F40 LM! The Bugatti Veyron might boost 1000 hp today, but this sweetie has close to 900 coming from a little V8! One of 17 cars produced, I was in awe!
To put it in perspective, in the catalogue they quote a lap at the modern Nurburgring in 1 min 40 seconds. A Ferrari Formula 1 car from the same period, the 412 lapped in 1:43 (talking about a trackday held in 1998).
I was informed today an FXX was shortly in Geneva to be boarded on a plane and fly to middle east. Honestly, how cooler an F40 LM is?????????????????

That F40 LM is damn impressive :shock: But that shooting break is really horrible. It's quite rare to say this about a Ferrari but this time is true

The 330GTC is damn sexy too.

Ohh I found another one a bit ugly.... the 330GT. That front is just a bit weird :roll:

The F40 LM is gorgeous, what a brutal car.....and your right its way cooler than an FXX!!!! It might only be able to achieve that 850hp in "qualifying mode", but it has more than enough even in standard mode. :shock:

The other F40 and 288GTO's get completely overshadowed by the LM unfortunately, but stunning in their own right. I also really like the 550 Barchetta - different.

Well, it's open to the public. You just need to buy their marvellous catalogue, which costs 50 Swiss francs but grant access for two persons.

And of course you need to have a car able to be driven on a mountain road covered with snow .. like this:
